RARE TROPICAL PLANT GREENHOUSE TOUR | MASSIVE WILD MONSTERA DELICIOSA, 5FT COLOCASIA | LA Arboretum

- Опубликовано: 20 апр 2019
- We came to #LAArboretum this Easter weekend to check it out as I am a fan of Botanical Gardens and anything #PLANT related!
Seeing all the peacocks roaming around was one of the best moments of our tour. This place really is off the charts and rocking! Parking is rvery easy, but bring walking shoes, because you are gonna want to walk, like a lot! We were not able to get into the orchid room, but we did got into the big main #TropicalGreenHouse! We saw some amazing rare Anthurium and Caudiciform plants, and they were absolutely mind-blowing! Taking a stroll at the amazing Pre-historical forest, you can find the most incredible wild #MONSTERADELICIOSA and Giant 5FT COLOCASIA! What an amazing hidden gem in this busy city, this place will always hold an important place in my heart.

I love the jungle
“Okay, I need self control!”🤣🤣🤣 I know what you mean, sister!
lol!
Thanks a lot! I have the same phobia & i can’t stop itching! Love you guys.
Brasil, Brasil ama muito!
I loved this field trip! 💛
Thanks for sharing Jolene and Josh. It's good to see plants in different environments. I just got in from a little walk around my community and was looking at a blooming Air Plant and wondered how many persons who owns one ever saw them bloom. I was also wondering what other people who has them growing naturally in their locales call them. Here, in our local vernacular I've heard them called "Pingwing" or "Wild Pine". Lives so amazing. See you. Bye 👋
You guys are so adorable and fun to watch. It was nice to see you recording your husband for a change because his commentary is hysterical. Btw the look on your face when you were trying not to steal cuttings 😆😆😆😆😆. Thanks for sharing😊👍❤.
Thank you Ruthie! IKR?! He can be really funny! But still took an arm wrestling to get this shy guy on camera! lol!
Love this video, you and hubby are so cute.
At 9:47 it is a Drimiopsis maculata, also known as the false african hosta. I have one, they get beautiful flowers!
Jolene that vine its look like a purple yum
That's what we thought too! lol! It's a Dioscorea Mexicana.
Love your videos. may you have all the happiness of the world. Ameen. love from pakistan.

It's so sweet to see Josh learning about plants with you! I adore when my partner joins in on the plant love, it's a great calming hobby to share when you both have stressful work lives too!
Hi Brian! I'm so glad Josh is getting into plants too! You are absolutely right, it is so calming, and I always feel like I'm the most relaxed when I water and repot my plants.
New subscriber here!I LSO have some begonia plants and I love it ..
You guys are such a cute couple. I would love to hear the story of how you guys met. I’m just a sucker for cute love stories lol
Thank you! I'd love to talk about it in the future videos! (If I can get this shy guy on camera without an arm wrestling, lol!)

You are ridiculously adorable. Your enthusiasm is infectious. 💚💚💚
Thank you so much love! xoxo
Hi, I just discovered you. you are a sweetheart. Of course I subscribed.!!!
I'm so excited. My grandma gave me a couple hostas and 4 clippings from her 25 year old fines. No clue what the vine is but I know its variegated. I'm just waiting for the roots to grow on the vine clippings and hang them up. The also gave me 11 pots and I've only found 2 that are cracked. I planted the hostas in the cracked hanging basket, the crack isn't big enough to do any damage. Even being recently in remission from cancer and having an extremely injured ankle and having surgery tomorrow, I'm still happy to have more plants, albeit starting from scratch.
Yesterday I planted ALOT of seeds. Multiple colors of lilac, cherry seeds, yellow fleshed watermelon, yellow honeydew, monkey faced orchids, and guavas. Oh and a blue shade of irises. I'm so excited to see what pops up and what doesnt (some of the seeds which were special ordered looked pretty old and kinda dry rotted. I didnt pay a ton for them so I dont expect it all to be 100% ok for germination from where i got them. I spent less than $15 for all the seeds.
I do have to do my carrots and green beans over again because the farmers almanac was a month and a half off on when to start indoor seed sewing. They got straight 65°F-73°F sunlight for a week and then nothing but cold and dark skies and even snow and they were too close to the window. The green beans and carrots just couldn't make it. I ALMOST got Christmas cactus that my grandmother had but she threatened to kill me if I killed either plant (she wasnt serious but she would have been very angry) so I say decided not to wake one of the baby shoots in case remove of the baby damaged the mother plant. The roots are very mixed and knotted so I couldn't risk it. It's one of the plants her sister gave to her several years before she passed. Those Christmas cacti are very sentimental to her.
Also, I found a brown widow spider in the hostas and almost totally lost my mind. I managed to get close enough to kill it and get the courage to kill it because she was super pregnant and I dont even want one brown widow spiders let alone babies brown widows hatching.
I am SUPER arachnophobic.
Lots of love to a fellow plant lover,
-Bri
Really nice video
This is so pretty thank you for sharing! Glad your begonia is doing better!
Wow, that was awesome!!! Thanks for sharing with us!!! Happy Easter!!!
The plant at 9:46 is a African Hosta. The little white thing on the end is their flower and Honey Bees just love them. Love your videos and how enthusiastic you are about plants. I thought I was the only nut job out there that felt that way about plants. You guys get a house so that you can have a yard and a little greenhouse. It is Spring here in Florida. I have been outside working for 3 months straight, doing cuttings and potting up. Happy Planting to You !! ✌🏻&❤
Thank you! We will eventually get a house and most importantly...a yard! lol! Cannot wait to do some amazing gardening!
Thanks guys, really enjoyed the trip.
So gorgeous! All the plants!❤
And happy easter!

Hi Jolene! Thanks for giving us another wonderful video, I love both you and Josh's personalities! :) I was wondering if you can do an updated house plant tour, since you've acquired so many new babies lately!
Thank you hun! I'll to do an updated houseplant tour soon! You are right, I've acquired so many new plants, and more in the mail! lol! Stay tuned!
Love your videos so much! I would have been so tempted to take a few cuttings myself. The giant Anthuriums were beautiful, soo many beautiful plants.
Lol! Thank you hun!
you should try going to Lowes for a variegated peace lily. I saw some big ones there the other day. I was also able to get a smaller one at trader joe's.

Great video! At 16:30 my guess is an Anthurium pendulifolium.
I like the way you edited this video.

Thank you Jeremy! It's a very popular Leopard plant cultivar called Farfugium japonicum Giganteum! One of my favorites! I cannot believe I forgot to mention those beauties! lol
@@JoleneFoliage thank you :)
Youre sooo cute hehe
Are you wearing colored contacts?
Yes! A friend gifted them to me and they look CRAZY on camera!! lol
Nice video! I just uploaded one too!
I would’ve taken some cuttings 🤷🏻♀️ only god can judge me lmao! (Jk btw) I drove by someones house yesterdays on my way to pick up my friend, and they had a giant burgundy rubber tree in their front yard! It was overflowing and i wanted to get off and ask if i could have a cutting but i didn’t 😭
U should ask them, if it were me, i wouldnt mind
Just ask. Most avid gardeners are happy to share. I'm a commercial grower, using other people's yards, and I've had people cut flowers and it's infuriating. 1.) That's my livelihood. 2.) It's a shit load of work. 3.) It takes a lot of work to make a garden, especially one that is appealing. Years and years. 4.) It's illegal. It's theft. Theft is theft.
karatepop i think i will stop by next time im in the neighborhood and ask if there is anyway i could have a cutting from the rubber tree... I’ll even offer to pay her lol. Just not too sure how people feel about strangers coming up to theirs doors hahaha 😅
Haha! I feel you. I would've been too shy to ask too... But who knows, maybe they would appreciate that you liked their plants/garden and gladly offer you a cutting!
I have trypophobia too, gurl. I love my plants but if it looks funky I draw the line
LOL! Maybe sometimes we need that exposure therapy! #BegoniaFerox
As a calathea enthusiast. You keep renaming one of the Calatheas wrong. The 'Calathea W' is not a Velvet touch. it also doesnt feel liek velvet. It's a Calathea Zebrina. >.
Moonkitten I just picked up my first calathea! So excited about it. Just uploaded it
You are right, they were Calathea Zebrina! I kept getting it mixed up with Calathea Warscewiczii! lol
The loud music suck.
Hahahaha
