    • @redcrimson1028

      I can live with that, but I have all pc handhelds, and I think switch is still the best. Getting right into games, dock mode, controller options, table top mode, docked mode, some games are just more fun ner to play on switch, battery life and portability switch wins hands down. That is why the switch sold more. Also, a molded switch allows it to play the same games as the deck with high framerates and better graphics as well. Steam deck is overrated, and the sales proves that.

    • @KD6-3.7.2
      @KD6-3.7.2 2 месяца назад

      @@redcrimson1028 I love my switch but the steam sales are significantly better compared to Nintendo’s. I personally prefer the unibody and larger design of the deck over the switches slim design as a man with large hands. I have to use a grip on the switch to play comfortably and even then it’s not as comfortable as the Deck. Also there are many indie games and others that you can play on Deck that are simply not on the Nintendo eshop. Nintendo sells more systems because the company has been in the industry decades longer and has exclusive IPs people have grown up playing. If all Nintendo exclusives were on the steam store I would choose steam deck over switch no question

      @@redcrimson1028 also what kind of mod allows the switch to graphically outperform the steam deck? I would think it would have to be a hardware mod because the Switches hardware is significantly weaker than the Decks.

    On the battery life.
    Steam Deck is a portable PC (though some games cover it and does not allow user to tweak settings, unless additional CMD param is provided, and are using Steam Deck preset). The point is this device offers compromise between graphical fidelity and battery life which is up to user to use. From picking lower settings at which game still looks good, to tweaking fps limit, tdp limit, or gpu speed.
    It is not a console.
    For people not willing to set the settings themselves or play with max out this is not a right device as handhelds have their limitations.

      @JokARTainment  2 месяца назад

      Yeah, especially if you have both. There's no need to measure which one is better than the other because both have their pros and cons. It's ultimately up to the consumer to determine which one is right for them.
      At the end of the day, we're all doing something we love and that's playing video games. Sure, some of us play them differently than others, but that's what makes this a fun hobby. 40 FPS is for sure the sweet spot between performance and battery. You can get fantastic settings between 2:30-3:30 hours on any PS4 era, and for newer games you are probably still looking at medium settings and 2:00 HRS so it can handle that well too. Just the very demanding/unoptomized games are out of its wheelhouse. To me it's the everything machine, 99% of the games I like accross every generation of consoles and PC are playable on it with excellent performance.

    The switch is so fun for multiplayer games (Mario kart 8/Smash Bros Ultimate/Mario Maker2) or for the more "gimicky" games like Skyward sword, i COULD emulate Skyward Sword HD on Steam Deck but i personally would rather play it on a smaller console with much better battery life AND with the option to use motion controls at any time.
    The Steam Deck is great since a bunch of games i want to play ARENT availalbe on the Eshop (oficial games like Sonic Generations/Unleashed/SADX/SA2B, or even fan games like P-06, Fallen Star, Robo Blast 2, Triple Trouble 16 bit etc), but the battery life, the size and how hard it is to find for a decent price in my country (Brazil, had to pay almost 700$ for this 400$ device, you dont even wanna KNOW about the Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go lol) makes it hard to recommend for people who just dont care about mods or graphics.
    These consoles are phenomenal for different reasons, just cuz u like the switch doesnt mean you'll like the steam deck and vise versa, but i adore these 2 consoles, i love playing Tetris 99 and Mario kart with my family and i love playing Sonic Unleashed, SADX and SA2 with mods on road trips
    Thing is, i havent turned on my ps5 in MONTHS, i might actually jsut sell it and get a pc ngl, had a lot of fun with spiderman 2 but i think its time for me to move on idk

    my big problem with these portable PC's is I already have a pc, so I don't really see the point spending money on a mobile pc platform like the steam deck when I could just spend that money upgrading my desktop, and for mobile emulation there are better options that cost way less. I didn't buy the switch because I wanted the novelty of owning what at the time of release was the worlds most powerful handheld, I bought it to play Metroid prime remastered and Metroid dread and a ton of other exclusives that are more trouble then its worth to emulate

      That's valid. It's the same reason I bought a switch and still play it today. Some people have their preferences and the fact that more options are available to more people is a net positive when it comes to video games.

      No, Hedgemodmanager doesn't work for me on Deck. I usually just stream Generations modded on my PC to my Deck.

    just a tip, limiting gpu frequencies can not only save battery life (one of the complaints im sure a lot of ppl have made lol) but also if it’s set to around 900 for ps3 and 360 games it can actually run games better since it allows the steam deck to output more power to the cpu (emulation usually runs better on cpu)

      i tried playing the ps3 version of shadow of the colossus and it wouldn’t run great at first , barely 30fps but limiting to 900 got me to around 60 easy

    Never forget to limit your GPU wattage and clock speed, and lock your screen refresh rate. These actions will help keep your battery life and temperatures in check. Trust me, just do it, and don't underestimate how much better your experience will be.
