    man the cutting limes part was like every math problem ever

  • @carolbetarello
    @carolbetarello 11 месяцев назад +4352

    A couple of notes:
    First blend only the limes with the water, do it for no longer than 10 seconds so it doesn't get too sour, and strain it.
    Rinse the blender and then you blend that with the condensed milk, ice and a little sugar.
    Trust me.
    Also, I think it's so funny you guys say "Brazilian lemonade" when we call it "swiss lemonade" over here. Our "normal" lemonade doesn't have the condensed milk.

      @carolbetarello 11 месяцев назад +70

      @@rae6140 yes! That's our "normal" version. It's really nice too! The normal version stay to the rule of the 10 seconds especially, and normally don't take too long to drink it all, or it can also be sour later. It's best to drink right when it's made.

    I actually blend the limes and water on their own, strain it, add it back, then condensed milk, and just a handful of ice. Just a handful gets you foamy effect and doesn’t have any ice chunks which makes it way smoother.

  • @ConnorSinclairCavin

    Tip: if you peel the central pith out before fully chopping/blending you will keep all the flavor but avoid at least some of the bitter back edge of tongue cloying punch that can be unpleasant and almost chemically.
    Additionally, if you heat the limes first (like use 3-5 sec turns in a microwave at a time) until they are warmed to like… sitting in the sun mid summer type heat, and roll the lime until its almost like a stressball (while warm) this activates the sugars and transmutes some of the alkali components, leading to an even more intensely citrus taste, reducing the harsher bite, and creating a natural sweet Pop to the flavor you would not otherwise get.
    Also works with other citrons

      first: peel it like one normally does with an orange, making “slices” (do Not actually cut).
      Second: grab any of the fluffy pith and pull it off
      Third: you should have “slices” that have most stuff off of them, but still have the “sack” around the inner fruit, take a knife or scissors and cut Just the seam that runs on the inner curve, try to not cut the pulp sacs that are inside, you are just opening the outer sack’s skin.
      Fourth: hold the body of the pulp cluster in one hand and gently peel off one side of the outer sack so that its free from the seam to the corner, the flip and repeat on the other side
      Fifth: now that both sides are loosened hold the pulp sack in one set of fingers so that it cant easily move, and use the other hand to peel the sides back and pull it away from the spine of the “slice”
      Sixth: use a toothpick to pull any bits out that didnt come off clean and slide any seeds out
      That is the low tech way, its free to do, but a bit tedious, however, there is another option, and, is how companies make the massive batches of mandarin oranges look like they do:
      Buy Pectinase, follow the directions on the packaging, it dissolves ALL the pith and sack materials in one go. In a quick glance the type you can get on amazon can run between 95¢ an ounce and 35$ an ounce, most likely with varying degrees of accuracy, taste modification, and more, but, this makes almost Every citrus fruit better. You can actually like inject it into or submerge a full fruit in the mix and leave it a while so that you have clean slices inside a newly thinned peel, but that can be a mess or go strange, and uses Way more material. Its generally better to make a big mason jar filled with “slices” the pour in a batch to cover it

Let me tell you it was by far the single best fast food entree I've ever had. Unfortunately, it's been many years since I've been able to get one, it's become my white whale, so to speak. The white flesh under the skin-the “pulp,” or also known as pith- can cause the flavor of this drink to be unpleasantly bitter when you blend the limes whole, but it depends on what kind of limes you’re using. Jordan appears to be using a smaller, rounder variety of lime that has a thinner layer of pith. If your limes have a lot of pith in them, you can zest the skin into the blender and discard the pith before blending the rest of the lime to avoid this.

      Brazilian limeade is amazing and so is Vietnamese lemonade. With Brazilian limeade, it's all about the condense milk as that's the secret. With Vietnamese lemonade, it's the exact same as American lemonade but, they add a little bit of salt into it, which then completely changes the taste. Well, might as well try Vietnamese coffee as well as that's amazingly good and also uses condense milk as a sweetener.

      If you add a bit, not a lot,, not a spoon mountain, of salt, and maybe heat the sugar up slightly so it caramelizes, aint gonna care if people use more sugar in the actual recipes, yours going to turn sweeter (if, you heat it up the right enough way, there isn't a right way but there are wrong ways or mixtures to heat up sugar)...

    Fun fact: You can make bucees/gift shop fudge (the kind that costs $20 per pound) with 14oz sweetened condensed milk (You can also use stevia sweetened or coconut condensed for dietary requirements) per 16oz of chips (If you want chocolate, use chocolate, else you can use peanut butter, cherry, mint, etc.) Melt them together in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time to prevent burning, then spread into a baking pan, and put on the top rack of the fridge for 1 hour or until hardened.

    Ive made brazilian limeade a few time and while its interesting its an inferior citrus beverage that will get you an upset stomach solely because of the amount of condense milk in this drink.
    Youre better off making Egyptian Lemonade instead. Its basically ice blended lemonade with mint leaf in it and its the most delicious refreshing drink you'll ever have.
    Just slice up lemons and put in a blender along with water, sugar and a handful if mint leaves, blend it then strain and lastly pour liquid back in the blender and blend with ice and enjoy a very refreshing drink during the hot summers.

    I saw this recipe months back, and decided to make it earlier this week (before this video) since I had both lemons and condensed milk on hand...it was very bitter. Either remove the pith (white part) or use limes as the recipes recommend since they tend to have way less pith in comparison to lemons...unless you really like bitter stuff. It's certainly refreshing and creamy, but I would have enjoyed it more if it tasted more like sweet or sour lemonade. I'm looking forward to trying it again with limes ☺️

    • @kamekomiyamora
      @kamekomiyamora 11 месяцев назад

      Okay I tried it today with a lime. I only used 1/3 of the peel/pith just in case, but it's not bitter at all 🙏 I may try the whole lime next time if that's the case! I don't mind a hint of bitterness, but I don't want bitter to be the main node and the main aftertaste like it was last time when I used a whole lemon 😅 I really couldn't finish it

Thankfully, we got a thin garlic grater thingy, but just being able to cut em and throw em in is nice when you're lazy 🤭 I was wondering if the pith adds to the thickness/creaminess at all, cause if we wanted a watery drink with a bit more oomph, we could just make normal lemonade and add some zest to it 🤔 but regardless, a tastier drink is always preferred! 😋

      @kamekomiyamora 11 месяцев назад
