In this video I walk you through the steps to build up a pair of lasts to fit sneaker soles / cup soles * This method is fully reversible so if you want to remove the leather patches to get your original last shape, simply reactivate the glue with a heat-gun and peel them off.
*Remember that when you build up the lasts you will be affecting their size so make sure the cup sole you have chosen is as close a match as possible. You don't want the cup soles to be too snug a fit otherwise there is no room for your uppers 😊
Over the past decade, I've taught my shoemaking method to thousands of students from all over the world 🌍 As you might have guessed I am super passionate about home shoemaking and so happy to share what I know here on RUclips 😊

How can one find a source for new sneaker soles/cup soles? I have been looking everywhere online and it's hard to find.

This was a really cool demo, thank you! I have a question though - I always thought that for sneakers, you need a bit of 'height' for the lasts because the cup soles' sides are hiding so much from the shoe upper. I thought you were going to somehow add a strip or two of leather to the bottom because of this. Or is it not really necessary?

Wouldn't you alter the sneaker mold instead? Now your shoes don't fit you...!
