I have two of these trucks. Use them for my lawn care business and they are reliable. Have had to do work on them but both together have costed me much less than a brand new truck. Good luck with your project!
Unfortunately I had to walk away from this truck, the frame is completely shot, I don’t have the money to find a replacement. So I’m just working on my other one, ever so slowly.
Check the frame for rust. It appears the frame is collapsing between the cab and bed, it's why the gap looks the way it does. Edit: the frame will need to be replaced after seeing how bad that rust is. It's not repairable and unsafe to drive.

On a single cab it’d be like a 1/3rd panel lmao. Cheer up and worry about more important stuff than trying to make people feel stupid 👍🏻
