  • This is an overview of my 1952 Schwinn Hornet, what I’ve done to it and discussing what I might be doing to it.

    Great looking bike. Definitely take metal components clean and new. Bearings need replaced if you're riding a lot. Chain soaked in oil. Stuff like that helps a lot. As far as paint can't go wrong either way. Really like that design. Definitely new grips. Now that's just my take. Good luck with that bike.

    I have a 1953 Excelsior, built by Schwinn , it also says Hornet on the chain Guard.

    As nice as that.... yep..... id preserve it as is and ride it hard the wife has the girls mate to yours ... a beauty for sure. subbed thanks for sharing ... love real bikes.

    I would just keep her the way it is by polishing up the old Chrome and use a little fine 1800 Grit wet sandpaper to polish up the paint by wet sanding and then use rubbing compound or wax too preserve the paint but other than that that's a sweet looking Rider !!, I'm glad you took the old tires off the old ones probably rode like hard rubber lots of rolling resistance.

      It sure did. The new tires make a huge difference! It’s a fun bike to ride and gets many looks for sure

      Now if I remember correctly when this bike was sold through the BF Goodrich Tire Store companies BF Goodrich supplied the tires for these bikes .​@@aliveandwell2078

    They Built them because they made BF GOODRICH and FIRESTONE tires for Bikes back in the Day

    Old bikes are just plain built better. All it needs now is a motor. Lol.
