The bike looks like a retro-newer style it has a welded Kickstand. The kickstands on the old school Hornet were bolt on with a bracket above the chain stay..
+Johnswebs i have a 1950 and a 1953 hornet and both are welded on. frame appears to be brazed instead of welded which is an indication of the older schwinns.

+Johnswebs good catch, thanks for the info i suppose i coulda searched that as well before commenting but i just know mine are welded so i had to watch the video a couple times to see the other components and what not to realize what a nice "original" bike this was. you mentioned it could possibly a repro so i searched it out, the serial number says real deal, thats a good thing to me, i love the old bikes, i have over 100 bicycles, a lot of which are collectible schwinns so i try to get all the info i can before i buy them so as to not get stiffed, the delux must have a removable stand, where as neither of my hornets do but i have others that predate and post date those that do have a detachable stand. as far as the removable stand in the add, guess his could be more like mine and not really a deluxe as mine are identical, or it could be like everything else and things change along the lines.
according to the serial number it was built between `11-04 and 11-08 of 1952. now for a little other info to help other bike lovers as myself , im guessing the wheels are either not original or he had those rings chromed as they didnt use chrome on the hornets, they were a creamy color with a red pin stripe. the style of bars is slightly different shape from original (earlier hornets had painted bars) but overall it is a very nice restoration, whomever done the work did very well, glad to see another old schwinn saved, getting very hard to find these old bikes in any condition these days.
Carolina beacher on the Hornet Deluxe yes they did but the Plain Jane Hornets used white enameled blue pinstripe S2 rims I myself have a 1951 hornet that's got those enameled rims.
What's the gear ratio on that?? I wonder what it would be to move one of those with a hard wind on your face.. I secretly don't like cruiser style bikes due to the lack of final speed, but they definately look cool.
with all your experimenting, Bart - youre an authority on broadcasting and audio engineering. Good job - this approach is fine for me ---IF, you do more of your how-tos like you used to
While I love these cool older bikes, I have become spoiled with newer cruisers both custom and production made, especially the production versions from Electra bikes who make a high quality cruiser bicycle.
great looking bike, I would be scared to ride it if I had it restored, I'm more into the racers and speedsters because they're not as special as these beautiful cruisers and I can ride and repaint them without worrying about people trying to steal them, though that is starting to change nowadays.
@@predatory_fish_keeper_9553 yes you are right on that Pee Wee Herman's bike was a DX 97 model with a slightly curved middle bar and it sported a different style tank but the bike in the video can be different variance of a straight bar known as the basic model b97 or b107 also noted in the video that the bicycle has a b 107 or p607 6 hole Deluxe rack what's this bike should sport is a 9 Hole rack.
Beatiful
Amazing

I love almost all bikes... :) Old ones, new ones, trikes... tandem if I could find somebody that like bikes as much as I do... :)

+Johnswebs It might be a 1957 26 inch Deluxe Hornet with a older style heart shaped crank. The 1957 deluxe had a springer front end.

+carolina cruisers I also looked up the serial number; from what I got, she was built in November of 1952, possibly for the 1953 season.
The locking headset is very clever indeed! Also groovin' on the integrated kickstand. A true work of art.

Yes you would be correct about that according to the 1895 to 2004 Schwinn catalog the rims were actually white they were not chromed.
badass quality built to last not like today's garbage lol

Are they using cheap steel, or is it high quality? 6061 aluminum is great too.
is that a Freddy/Santa bike???

camera is an iphone
Just type, "dating your Schwinn bicycle" into Google. Or, "Schwinn Date Codes" It's not that hard.
That’s peewee Herman’s bike
No it’s not.... different model
