To anyone who's interested in this amp: Know that this amp is in no way a bedroom amp; it can get really loud. It was also born for modification, but even without it, it rocks. However, depending on your unit, you may need to take it to amp servicer to have the buzz fixed. With that fixed, this amp is a real champ. By the way, this amp loves pedals. Also, the gain structure changes a little between the different inputs. The normal channel, if you want to call it that, actually takes on more tight bass than the dark channel. And, the tone knob is particularly useful, as it cuts flub as you crank it. Another important note; the speaker really needs to be broken in to hear what this amp can do. I played mine at max boost and volume (with a lot of boost coming from my pedals) for hours; the difference was phenomenal. If you can't handle playing loud for hours on end, get a Looper and Connect the speaker to a powerful solid state amp; it's easy as pie. Just unscrew the back cover and you'll see that there's actually a speaker input that the speaker is plugged into, no mod necessary. Oh, and while your at it, there's an internal bias that's, well, really not all that internal (little screw knob on top of the chassis); adjust that if you want more clean headroom (trust me there's more than you think; this thing goes up to around 30 watts). This amp, if you noticed from the video, has a speaker input that runs in parallel with the internal speaker (it only accepts 8 ohms); so it can be very loud. And if you want to use only you own cab and use this as a head you can leave the back off (or drill a hill in the little grill on the back cover), and connect it were the internal speaker was connected. Really there's a whole lot you can do with this amp. It will truly reward you if you put a lot into it ( like, for instance taking it to a specialist and having an effects loop put in), trust me, I have this amp and don't want anything else.

This amp is some gorgeous art deco furniture for sure. That boost feature really sounded great. 👍🏻

I'm considering using it stock for blues jams and when components fail, fix and mod as per when necessary.

I had to remove the Chinese tubes for NOS USA Tubes. It made a great difference in tone. I like this amp after I had a tech to remove all the quirks one reads about.

You have wires coming out of your head! Oh Poster in the back. This is an amp I have been looking at. Would love to hear what folks who have one think of it. My best guess is it doesn't do clean very well at least at reasonable volumes.

This is not a rock amp! It surely was meant to interest guitarists that play swing and blues (like it was done in the 30ies and 40ies).

No such thing as a rock amp. Or jazz amp or any kind of amp. It's just an amp. You can play whatever you want on it. Don't forget that the les paul was designed for jazz musicians
