Ana-- Never apologize for excellence! You have delightful use of color, shape and texture-- When you know your voice, your explanations will surely be meaningful to others. I enjoy your work.
I appreciated the pre chat before kiln opening…I find you easy to follow with your explanations…kiln open was super ❤Thank you for your time and sharing of your tips and tricks!!🥰
Thank you for sharing in such detail, you do beautiful work! Just to help out, the small cones are not meant to be used that way. They are strictly only for using in a kiln sitter of a manual kiln. The company explains on their Orton RUclips page and their website 😊
Thank you! Yes I know that but I ran out of my large witness cones so had to improvise. The stand is a piece of firebrick I had laying around. I don’t use them in every firing I do but I’ve been using lately because I’m using a new firing schedule. Thanks again for the info!👍🏻
Everything is so gorgeous, you are so talented:). Black Aventurine and Oatmal by Amaco is like an aurora borealis! It's amazing...I'm wanting to try pearl white now to see the difference! It's so interesting you mentioned the porcelain lamp shades as I've been looking for pendant lamp parts for the last week!. I'm sure yours will be gorgeous as all your work is. Thanks for sharing
Thank you! Yes the Pearl white over BA makes those copper crystals which I was pleasantly surprised. Now I need to try it with Oatmeal. Thanks for letting me know!🙏🏻
Love your review of your fired pots. I have watched your cuerda seca videos and will try it. I am not as detailed as you are, but would like to see how I can use it to enhance what I do.
Your work is absolutely STUNNING! One of the most beautiful pieces of pottery I've seen on RUclips! Could you tell me what you use to paint the birds, frogs, butterfly etc? Is that underglaze? I'm new to pottery, but I'm eager to try some of these techniques... THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm so inspired!
@@Unstoppable_Stephanie Thank you so much Stephanie, that’s so kind of you to say!🩷 I use Amaco and Mayco underglazes then I use a zinc free clear glaze over them.👍🏻💕
Some lovely pieces and those frogs are adorable along with lovely glaze combo's on the leaves. Thank you for sharing and Amaryllis over Marigold celedon is also very pretty. Could you say what your favorite carving tool is if you have one? Beautiful pieces and thanks for sharing! 🥰
Thank you! I used Amarillis over Amaco flux blossom and also under Spectrum Pearl white. But I bet it would be beautiful over Marigold which I plan on getting btw.😄 I use diamondcore carving tools they are my favorite. My favorite if I have to pick one is the P1 diamondcoretools.com/products/p1-v-tip-pencil-carver They make the best carving tools and they last!
@@anasclayhouse Thank you so much for your reply and my next order I plan on picking up the blossom flux to use on some test tiles. I've only been at this for 2 yrs and use b-mix currently .......the possibilities are endless! I absolutely love black aventurine! Thank you again. 😁
Thank you! I have a video on how I make the frogs. Here’s the link: ruclips.net/video/UPbKpVmNINI/видео.htmlsi=QO7ykhHZ0cutDS50 I will try to make one with the butterflies. Thank you for subscribing!💞
Such beautiful pieces ! Can you tell me where you slow cool schedule is found ? I have a skutt kiln as well but I don’t know how to program a slow cool.
I used Standard 214 red clay with Spectrum glaze- Kimchi n Sangria, had pin holes also. Refired once, more pin holes. I hate to give up on those carved pieces, so I added honey flux on top and refired again, pin holes went away!!! 😅
That’s good to know! Sometimes it just happens with a certain type of clay. I haven’t had anymore pinhole issues. I also fire to a slow cool schedule which helps a lot.👍🏻
The peak temperature is 2185 for 5 minutes. For refire I raise the hold time to 6-8 minutes if I want it to run a little more. My firing schedule is listed under the Community tab.
Beautiful work! I do have a question. I hand build so maybe that is the problem. When I put additions on my mugs they tend to tork or warp. I use groggy stoneware and compress the clay and avoid picking up so not to give it a memory. Do you wait until your mugs are quite leather hard?
Thank you! I attach a little before getting to leather hard (I score and use slip) and then I wrap my pieces in plastic to dry slowly. I think that’s the key.

Thank you for taking the time to explain before you showed your beautiful work. I love hearing why you started using stoneware again, I feel the same way about porcelain and stoneware. I’m going from Laguna Frost to stoneware - Mid Smooth Stone Speck from Tuckers. It looks light in color, good with many glazes and very low absorbency for a stoneware.
@@SamanthaB390 thank you Samantha! That’s good to know. I just bought two new clay bags from Kentucky Muddworks, White bear and Dark star. I can’t wait to try them. I’ve never tried any from Tuckers. I will be sharing my results soon!❤️

I love the detail you give ❤ Do you hold at the top temp for a little (like 20 minutes) when you refire?
The peak temperature is 2185 for 5 minutes. For refire I raise the hold time to 6-8 minutes if I want it to run a little more. My firing schedule is listed under the Community tab.

Cool do you put those over a candle? Do you use a plate under them?
The luminaries I do and I have added a plate for some of them.👍🏻
What does the Elmer's glue do specifically? Does it somehow protect the other glazes that don't necessarily need re-firing?
It just helps the glaze to adheres to the surface. Some people use hairspray for the same purpose. If you don’t use anything the glaze will not stay.
I love your pottery. Is any for sale.
Thank you! I don’t have anything for sale at the moment, but in January I’ll have a few pieces. Anything in particular?
Where do you get your glass beads?
I had some old ones laying around my studio. You can get them at Michael’s, Hobby Libby or Amazon to name a few.

What glaze do you use for the stems?
I used Amaco iron celadon, it shows the texture really well.
Your work is absolutely beautiful but did you know you talked before showing work for 14 MINUTES?
