    • @CarettaLynn
      @CarettaLynn Год назад +1

      @@kdwalters4146 it's a great effect if that is what you are looking for, but a shocking result when you expect a smooth, svelte glaze.

    • @kdwalters4146
      @kdwalters4146 Год назад

      @@CarettaLynn agreed, and I never intended to get the Warts, and try my darndest to get rid of them. I have re-glazed and applied a really runny glaze for the re-galze. Mostly successful in getting rid of them. Very curious what it is with the darks clay bodies that produces that. I too thought I just didn't get to a high enough temp.

    Hey Sweet Sarah, I love your combos. I will say, I have had The Warts on many of my pieces as well, most times the dark clay bodiies. Mine have been mostly the Winterwood and I thought it was the glaze, but I am thinking it must have to do with the heat not getting high enough. I have often thought I should get new elements, but other times my glazes come out nicely, so I understand the ache in the noggin from trying to figure this out. As always we love love love your videos, and are so blessed you take the time to share your journey with us.

So when things are successful we are extra pleased!! I use PC-45 Dark Green. 😊

    I am not pottery person but I find your "epic" failure with warts actually lovely. Sure, you have to resolve the warts issue 😂, but glaze combination on the outside is lovely. I also love the pink on dark clay and pink is my least favourite color. 😂 Also, the last two cups are just gorgeous - they bring Arctic to mind. Overall, I would say great results and failures are only learning opportunities.

    does the movement depense on the multiple layers, or are there special tipes of glazes that runs?

    • @SarahWaltonPottery
      @SarahWaltonPottery  Год назад +1

      Well that really depends. Some glazes will move when thicker layers are applied, sometimes they are stable and don’t move. Some glazes are runners and give beautiful drips and movement… sometimes you can have 2 glazes that are both stable but when layered you get gorgeous drips…sorry that there really isn’t a yes/no answer…it takes lots of trial and error

    The black clay is stunning but I’m told it’s not microwave safe? Have you had any issues Sarah?

    • @SarahWaltonPottery
      @SarahWaltonPottery  Год назад

      Hi Betty, It gets REALLY hot in the microwave so I also do recommend doing so. It has a very high iron content and especially handles could burn hands. I have a disclaimer on my website on pieces where I use the darker clay bodies to not use in the microwave, and I place a card in the box that states that also. If selling at a market I have little tags with care and size etc that I attach to all my pieces. But thats all you can do, or just make pieces that are not for the microwave, like vases and bottles etc. I'm very excited for you as you embark on the new journey of pottery! it's a very humbling hobby...cheers xo
