Alan Jackson is one of the last remaining country singer who reminds us of the pioneers of this genre.
I am not sure how Alan was able to get through this song without breaking down. You can hear it in his voice a couple times while he was singing. What an absolutely wonderful tribute that Alan sang this song in memory of George Jones. From one country music icon to another. I lost it when he took his hat off.❤
GJ was one of AJ’s biggest heroes, that had to be a difficult song to sing, but he kept it together & killed it. And then removed his hat, which, as any country boy knows is the ultimate sign of respect. Kudos to Alan on a great performance. Honor, Dignity, Respect- the trifecta.
Tip of the hat made me cry 😥
@@olly8 the crease on his hat made me cry. looked like shit
This is my song right here there's something special about Alan Jackson he was made for music
Sad song
Yes he was. Alan stood up for GJ a little over 20 years ago at an awards show where they wouldn’t let GJ play his new hit. AJ without asking permission played it then walked off the stage. Such class. Such respect. We don’t see that very often anymore today.
Alan said the hardest thing he ever did was hold back the tears when he sang this.
He was fighting back tears the whole song and still nailed it
Hat off broke me.... always loved this song, alan Jackson paid an absolutely amazing tribute! ❤
Alan Jackson's heartfelt tribute to his friend George was a beautiful thing to behold.
Alan Jackson was absolutely amazing! Just, chills.
No roses, no wine, no romance..... GREATEST love song of all time
Alan Jackson is one of the best country singers of all time.
Him and George strait
@ DENNISH HARNISH I was always straight up R&R but then I decided I would expand my musical prowess and the 2 country artists that caught my ear first were Garth Brooks & Alan Jackson, that was 26 years ago still love ‘em you are right AJ is 1 of the best country singers of all time!!! For the last 22 years my #1 is Keith Urban!!! He checks all the boxes for me…”’
Alan Jackson really gives the songs a lot of feeling while never over doing it with his voice
Love me some Alan Jackson. He’s one of the greats. George is the king.
100%!
Absolutely two of the best American country music singers of all time !! 👍🇺🇸
Alan Jackson is a great artist who tries to stay true to traditional country music. His song, “Remember When”, always brings me to tears. This was very touching. 🌺✌️
Yeah, those of us married a long time it really makes you remember our years together.
He does stay true to it
He loved the man and the legend 😊
For me, this is one of the greatest musical performances ever - regardless of genre. How Alan stood at this solemn event - the funeral of one of country's legends - and then sang George's greatest hit while his family and friends were weeping just feet away, and held himself together to delivery the emotion the song and setting deserved, is a staggering accomplishment. If you don't cry watching this and don't come away in awe of Alan Jackson, you've got no soul.
Agreed!
Well said
NO question. One of the best, paying tribute to his mentor at his funeral. Singing the greatest love song of all time. And he pulls it off 🤷🏼♂️
Very well stated.
I've never seen or heard Alan's voice quiver. It was definitely hard for him to sing this. George's wife was sitting there crying. Great job Alan. Remember it's okay to cry. I love Alan so much. He's a musical genius. I'm afraid he's one of the last true country singers.
In my opinion, Alan Jackson is in the top 5 of all country music singers. He not only writes his own music and the music to it but his voice is amazing. His idols were old school country and he loved George Jones… It’s hard to say who the Bestos but if you really dig into Alan Jackson he is a true, tried and true country music legend.
Agree 💯
Beautiful performance. Perfect.
George's best song. It was fitting to have it sung at his funeral.
I REALLY appreciate a guy who does reactions and can SHUT UP when a GREAT song is delivered by a GREAT singer. Thanks...!
I’m 53 and listened to this song since I was a child.my father used to sing it all the time.but since losing my wife of 35 years it kills me more than ever due to the fact until I’m dead I will never stop loving my wife.music is fantastic and it’s universal and it brings us together.loved the video thanks for you for this ❤️
This song is George Jones most memorable song.
Alan and George were good friends. George had a new song Choices. Alan had a new song also. The CMAs would not invite George to preform. Alan was preforming his new song. In the middle he stopped and started singing George's song. The crowd erupted!
I remember when he did that!!!
🙌 🙌 🙌
Choices is my favorite song.
I remember that
Alan Jackson is a class act.period.
I remembered seeing that. Good for ALAN!!!
This is the only time in 30 years I have seen Alan without his hat. Great job.
absolutely the best country artist to sing this song at George's funeral. Alan Jackson has stayed right with his country roots
Not that I am suggesting this as an alternative for the occasion, considering Alan's friendship with George but this is a decent version too.

OMG he did such a beautiful job, he sounds almost exactly like Mr. Jones. It was chilling seeing and hearing him sing this at the funeral. Thank you Mr. Jackson for such a beautiful tribute to a legendary singer
Alan Jackson, what a great voice❤
Only Allen Jackson could have sung that 🎵 at the George Jones memorial service. 😢. Bravo 👏 🙌. George Jones would be proud
You should watch Vince Gill' "Go Rest High Upon The Mountain " at George Jones's funeral. It is sooo heartbreaking! I cried the whole time.( so did Vince)
Without a doubt one of the best heartfelt performances.
Heartbreakingly beautiful 😭💔❤️🩹
The actual video
I like the upload that includes him telling a funny memory about George before singing.
I have a hard time listening to that one.
Best country song ever by George Jones. I love this song.❤
Beautiful tribute to George
Alan Jackson Crushed this, was the best performance of GJ funeral ...Best of Country Music
Alan Jackson is a true cowboy, and country music singer.
George Jones was married 4 times. The lady in the audience was wife #4 and he was married to her for 30 years until he passed away.
He sounds a lot like George Jones when singing this song. Almost like he himself was singing. He did a great job at this song.
Vince gill tried to sing go rest high on that mountain at the same funeral.Touching
I watched George Jones funeral live...I cried like a baby watching this performance...I still do...
i beautiful tribute and show of respect by alan jackson
Yes George Jones and Tammy wynette were truly a match made in heaven and they did love one another until the very end it was a like a fairytale had came true when those two met and he was one of the greatest singers that ever lived
Wow, he really killed that song, that was spectacular.
For anyone that would like to hear him sing this song before he was even known.... check out the show. You can be a star !
When my mom died,6 mos. After my father..we had to sell her car, and a cassette was playing, it was he stopped loving her today..it always makes me so sad..losing 2 parents in 6 months was hard, the love they had for each other was priceless..I miss them so, after 26 years
I am so glad George found a match in Nancy. Married 30 years until his death. I enjoyed your reaction Harri
I don't always love the sound of country music, but I always love the humanity in it. There's not a person on earth that at least one country song doesn't hit them right in the gut despite the sound or tempo, every country song should tell a story that most people can relate to no matter where in the world or class we come from.
That is probably the best description of how I feel about what country music means to most people. Spot on!
Yes George Jones and his daughter Georgette Jones sing together....
You and me and time what a amazing song.
Thank you for an honest reaction. Never be sorry or apologize when tears fall from the heart.
Alan Jackson had the toughest two tasks I've ever seen a singer have to get through, and he excelled at both.
This performance and "Where Were You..." at the 2001 CMAs.
George Jones thought alot of Alan Jackson, Alan does George Jones song ,he stop loving her today very well. Fine job he does .👍💪❤
I've never heard the Alan Jackson version .. great song
Alan did a real good job of that song.....George was a favorite of mine and always will be .....God bless him
Alan worked his way thru that very emotional and moving tribute to George. I am sure he shed some tears once he got off stage. Thanks for your reaction Harri...best of 2022 to you and your family. Take care and be well. Peace.
When George made the song whos going to fill there shoe's so so true we have lost alot of the original pure country singers but the songs will never leave us thanks Alan and all the country singers
You can tell how hard it was for him to get through that song. Alan never lost his humanity, no matter how big he got.
Couldn’t have a better song or singer for this tribute to George Jones. One of the greatest.
This is one of the best songs ever written!
Harri, this was most definitely the best reaction to this song I've seen. So heartfelt and moving. I have to think Alan Jackson had a hard time not breaking down during this performance. Thank you for being so honest and genuine with your thoughts and feelings on this. I hope this year brings you all the joy and success you deserve.
That song is a tear jerker.
You need to check out another performance from this same tribute. Vince Gill and Patty Loveless performing Go Rest High on that Mountain.
Legend has it that when Jones finished recording the spoken-word part, which didn't happen for a couple of months after the rest of the song, he walked out of the recording studio and addressed the recording engineer. saying, "No one's gonna buy that morbid son of a bitch!"
The Country Music Association awarded it Song of the Year in both 1980 and 1981.
Your expression on your face leads me to know you have been in this place yourself. The emotion on your face and your soul brought me to tears for George and for you my friend. God Bless.
Brother, never apologize for emotions. We all must face them. I love your tender soul and how it brings you to brokenness. Like strength, brokenness is part of us.
Such a beautiful tribute to his friend. Randy Travis sang Amazing Grace too.
Wynona Judd sang How Great Thou Art at Tammy Wynette's funeral and it was lovely as well. Ty for t this reaction! 😭
Alan Jackson is gasping for breathe, his emotions are so raw. This "could not have been a better tribute for a friend that you love. We share the same feelings with this one
That song is so heart breaking and Alan paid tribute to it and George
This song always makes me cry❤❤❤❤
A great song/ performance should always bring out emotion(smile, laugh or cry) in it’s listener, or it’s not doing it’s job. Never apologize for emotion. ❤️
One of the greatest love songs ever.
To me, this is the ultimate country song ever written. I don't think you can find another one anywhere.
It affects you because you have a good heart. It’s too bad that we’re not all that way, life would be so much better. Love your reactions!!
What an absolutely beautiful tribute, kudos to you Harri for feeling for the family 👪 ❤ #realmendocry
Alan Jackson…no words wow
When he took his hat off I started tearing up & getting choked up. Very emotional experience. Great reaction.
Eon of the greatest Country Western Songs ever!
his hat removal was the ultimate salute. george was loved and admired by every person connected to country music. please do vince gill at George’s funeral. it’s amazing
One of my favorite songs by George Jones. Alen did a good job
So glad you played this song of George Jones. You got it. You can pass on what country music is all about.
the first time I heard this song I was moved too but, I said, My god, this is the saddest song ever. I get emotional every time I hear. Trivia for you. Mr. Jones did not want to record this song because it was so sad. It became one of the greatest songs of it's time. Surprised the hell out of George Jones.
Love you Alan
Alan Jackson was from my hometown. He used to go to my church until I was like 5 or 6 then he left and not long after he got it big. We had a big tornado in town last year and the dealership I work for put on a concert to raise money for the victims and Alan came and played to raise money. Helped us raise 2 million for the victims.
He is sooo AWESOME! Alan has a great & humble heart & soul.
Alan Jackson has always been a class act!
I could hear the emotions in Alan Jackson’s voice! I could see the emotions in the gentleman who hosted this show!🙏♥️. Beautiful!
Can't beat that
Alan Jackson is one of the most standup guy's in country music once at the CMAs they were not going to let George Jones play on the show so when Alan Jackson was doing his song he stopped in the middle and started playing George Jones song it was either this song or the song Choice's
If you've ever listened to Alan Jackson's songs, you can tell how close to losing it he his. George Jones will be missed by many gor a long time to come. 🙏
A beautiful tribute sung by a beautiful man for a beautiful man!🤠❤😇
In the same vein, Merle Haggard sang "Long Black Limousine," in his beautiful voice. "There's a long line of mourners coming down our street; their fancy cars are such a sight to see. They're all of your rich friends that knew you in the city, and now they've finally brought you back to me. Through tears, I watch as you ride by, with a chauffeur at the wheel dressed up so fine. I'll never love another. My heart and all my dreams ride with you in that long black limousine."
When he took off his hat in a sign of RESPECT, that's when it got me 😢
Great respect for everyone who performed at this celebration of life. They all loved Mr. Jones so much I am amazed any of them made it through.
The fact that this was played at his funeral has the tears flowing over here. It's always been a sad song, but this is too much
I can’t hear this song without tearing up!
beautiful heartfelt reaction. well done !!
I love George Jones and I Allen Jackson they are awesome I grew up with George Jones and I still right now and Allen Jackson keep on with the good work Allen Jackson
There's video of Alan Jackson singing this song on a television show before he got famous, so this song means a lot to him.
You should react to Vince Gill and Patty Lovelace performing “Go Rest High On That Mountain” at George Jones’ funeral show. It’s another tear-jerker like this song is.
Waw yes he is a excellent country star, but nobody can sing this song like George Jones.
Greatings brother
Love Miriam S.A
You seem like such a sensitive, lovely man. That is a gift from God.
You have a heart my brother and not afraid to show your emotions. A true man
That’s because you have a feeling heart thank you
It is such a privilege to be in on your discovery of this wonderful song! Thank you for this special, spiritual, humbling experience!
Greatest song ever.
Awesome choice ❤🎉
When he took his hat off and held it to his heart ........ might as well have been a dagger. Thank you Harri, God Bless.
