I have seen similar recipes for this laundry detergent but using 3 bars of soap. Do you have to pretreat stains with this detergent? Have you tried the Kirks Castile soap? They work ok for some people sensitive skin issues. Just a tip when grinding your soap. Add some of the powder from the bag to the blender, food processor when grinding the soap. I get a finer consistency when I do it that way. Thank you for sharing your laundry detergent recipe.

Thanks so much for watching and thank you for the tip! Yes, I will pretreat with essential oils or sometimes just shout. I have not tried Kirks castile soap.

This is a good homemade detergent because it contains a surfactant, the Dr. Bonner Castile Soap. I make liquid detergent so I liquify the powders with water and use the Dr. Bonner Peppermint liquid for my surfactant. Sometimes I use Gain Liquid for the surfactant, I like the smell. This makes it safe for HE Washers. I make a smaller amount, about 64 to 90 oz. because it's easy to mix and pour into a few 4-6 oz. containers so it's easy to pre-treat as well as wash. MY COST SAVING IS STILL HUGE. Though we don't have any skin sensitivities, I still extra rinse because it's super concentrated. My towels are absorbent and fluffy and the Blankets, Quilts and Clothes are soft and fluffy as well and without fabric softener (which I hate). Occasionally, I spill a bit and my mop and floors are super clean with a low-key pleasant smell (there's always a rainbow).

What are the sizes of each box?

They are the large 4lb boxes. I think the washing soda is 3lbs. :)

Does the recipe have no suds in front loader?

Can you use this with cold water? I never wash with warm or hot water.

Yes! I use it with both cold and hot water. You may just want to put it in first if you have a top load washer so it dissolves before putting all the close in. I’ve never had an issue with my front loader 🙂
