Ahoy, friends! Just commenting ahead of the premiere going live to say thank you for joining us in this chaotic shared hallucination of a D&D run, and thanks for sharing your amazing Oxventure stories here in the comments. It's incredibly moving and rewarding to hear how you discovered/enjoyed The Oxventurers Guild. We've got lots in store at Oxventure and we hope you love it, even after we put these characters to bed for the forseeable future. OXOX
Thank you for making this. These characters have been real friends. It has meant so much to so many. The song for Johnny (brilliant song) introduced me to Luke’s music. You will be missed
Can we please, please, PLEASE get a sort of post-mortem discussion from each person about what they learned from this entire saga? I know Johnny's done a "7 Ways You Ruined the DM's Plans" video (which REALLY needs a sequel, now that you've all done over twice as much as that since then), but I think it would be lovely to hear from the others too.
A behind the scenes send off interview with all of them together and individually answering questions about their favourite adventure / moment / npc / adversary, etc. would be amazing.
I'm only forty minutes in but the whole "Egbert inadvertently summons terrifying fungal queen, shrugs off her attempt to infect him then turns her into a koala-like creature" bit might just be the all-time classic Oxventure moment. Thanks for this series, everyone. What pure joy it's been.
If I had a nickel for every time the Oxventures turned someone into a named character from D&D canon, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't much, but it's weird that it happened twice.
@@Blackdracko7 He started a coward noble, and ended a most noble coward there was. :) (And went after his old shtick immediately after the resurrection:D)
I wrote a comment on the first Oxventure, saying how they did a great job for a group of players who hadn’t played D&D before. It ended up getting read on Show of the Week, back when that was a thing. Which probably wasn’t something important to anyone else but it made me feel connected to the Oxventure in a way no other series has. And now here we are at the end. You’ll probably never see this, I’m much too late for that, so this is for me: Thank you. For everything. Well played, one and all.
It just occured to me that as a rabies survivor, Dob probably hid all the gold in a lake because he just assumed everyone else was as scared of water as he used to be.
I don't think he had that much planning . Dob is just chaos.. at least the 1st couple seasons . I honestly stopped Watching half way of season 3 because I really hate Dob. He didnt even play him as chaotic ... just a dick head who tries to ruin everything and if I was playing. There would be a sit down with dob saying next time u fuck it all up or throw away our gold, we will kill u in this game *or leave you loat in the woods if the group is full of goody two shoes) and find a new adventure at the next town. I know it's for comic relief but that type of player can fuck up whole campaigns.
After seven years, it's finally time to say goodbye... what a journey. And to think it wasn't even meant to go on this long, just a single special session with a spicy rat way back in the day 😢
Years played: 7 Lessons learned: 0 Spoilers below: I can't believe that no consequence is too large for the Oxventurers to wriggle out of, not even death, which they still refuse to deal with in a healthy or dignified manner. Excellent end for the Oxventure series. Also, Corazon really showed his heroism here, which is only appropriate since he's now a Tortle Rogue - i.e. a Ninja Turtle. A bonafide hero in a half-shell.
I can't wait to see how Corazon handles the debuff to his dex - if his time in Egbert's body is any indication, I thought he would lose it! But I hadn't considered the possible rebrand as a ninja turtle... he's absolutely doing that, isn't he?
what if for a live show they travel back in time to fishmas carol since egberts roll of 1-1 resulted in him seeing a ninja turtle that was actually a barrel of piss but now that corazons a rogue tortle he could be the ninja turtle
Since, to my knowledge, johnny knows what spells they have I wonder if that is why they had Liliana try to kill Merrilwen. Because if Corazon hadn't saved her they might not have been able to bring her back.
Me as a Paladin player the whole time going, oh it's just death, thank gods, Egbert is finally gonna whip out a paladin spell and unexpectedly save the....wait does he not know? Oh gods he totally doesn't know...or he does and in character doesn't...and then watching in abject horror lol. Either way in my head canon Corazon is gonna be real pissed someday......I was totally expecting Mike to follow "oh I've got loads of spells I don't use" with "for example revify" XD.
Honest question. Does every level 3 paladin get that spell, or is chosen? I mean it would be the most egbert thing, to mention in a side note to corazon, that he can revive people with a single touch.
@@tschaab I believe it's a 3rd level paladin spell, regardless of oath, (I certainly is for my oath of vengance paladin) but it needs to be prepared in advance. It would totally be the most Egbert thing XD.
@@lalaithlin525 like twenty minutes later Egberts like: "So apparently... There is this thing I can do..." While watching Corazon struggling to get back on his feet after being pushed on his shell by Prudence.
I like how Oxventure started with a villain who turned unwilling people into animals only for Egbert to then do the same thing with Seal Gaiman. You really do either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
@@MorinehtarTheBlue Yeah, it's so damn obvious. I must have rewatched the earlier episodes dozens of times while waiting for new ones and I never spotted it. This is seriously messing with me. The first episode was like less than a year, maybe six months old when I started watching and I never noticed this.
The next adventuring party: "The land is terrorized by 60 skeletons that live in a hammer and each have the spells and abilities of a high level Bard...."
This party began as a non-lethal (mostly), vengabus singing, chaotic group. Look how far they've come. And how many people they've most definitely killed. Excited to see what comes next, after you lot rest up!!
I've got something to tell ya I've got news for you Gonna put some wheels in motion Get ready 'cause we're coming through (coming through) Hey now, hey now, hear what I say now Happiness is just around the corner Hey now, hey now, hear what I say now We'll be there for you ❤❤😢
Nah they just kill him again and cast reincarnate again until he ends up back human or something, it takes months and a distressing mountain of corpses
I think the epilogue quest for the live show is gonna be Tortle Corazon getting his human body back (or a more comfortable one like a Triton). If the dice said elf, then we all flashback to Elf Hazard 😂
I bet Liliana was stewing this whole time about how Merilwen said she wasn't her type & that's why she went for her😭 what a great & fitting end to the Oxventurers, I'll miss them !
Dob and Prudence splashing along the beach with [an extremely spoilerly object] is such a balance of hilarious and heartstring-tugging, one of the many just perfectly Oxventurey moments.
I want tortle corazon to find his dad (and without saying that he's corazon in a new body) tell his dad that corazon is dead and sacrificed himself to save the life of his friend just after saving geth
ooooh yes I want this, oh man Corazon is going to need to forge a will leaving everything to his tortle self if he doesn't want his dad coming around to try and take Necropolis on Sea
"Mr. Milquetoast, I've got some bad news. Your son has died. It was a noble death. After saving the world from unspeakable horrors, he threw himself valiantly, selflessly, and dashingly in front of a Power Word Kill meant for his friend. Truly, the greatest, noblest, and most handsome of deaths, sure to be sung about across all of Geth for centuries to come. ... Anyway, I'm a tortle now."
I have hemmed and hawed over writing this because I really don't want attention but I also really want people to understand why this group is SO important (at least to me). When I first stumbled across the oxventure guild I was temporarily paralyzed after my immune system attacked the myelin sheath around my spinal cord. I spent 6 weeks in the hospital learning to walk again. My wife was with me every literal step of the way, exhausting herself between her visits/worry of me and still working. We started looking for lighthearted entertainment and laughed so loud at some of the outrageousness of the guild that nursing staff were popping in to see what was so funny. And that laughter is cathartic. It was her and I laughing in the dark (much like the guild themselves tend to do). And I know I am not the only one on here who has a story like this. Maybe it was a loss or depression or any number of things that are hard to get through; but I can guarantee others found themselves here and their load became perhaps a little lighter for it. Laughter doesn't cure what ails you, but damn does it help. So good bye and thank you, Corazon, Prudence, Egbert, Dob, Merliwen, and Everyone Else in the World, from me and all the others you kept laughing in the dark.
@@penguingonemad I am! Thank you! I don't interact much on here but this fandom is seriously one of the most positive I've come across on youtube - or really anywhere. It always floors me (in a good way) ☺
i’m so glad these guys decided to run a dnd game way back when, i’ll miss these characters for sure but i know whatever campaign they play it’s always fun and a hilarious and sometimes serious good time.
After years of Corazon endlessly trolling and big brother energy to Merilwen, to see him sacrifice himself, instinctively, with no regard for himself, to save her was beautiful ❤️
I'm glad we all got to bask in the glory of the real hero of Oxventure. The one who was there at the very end, standing at the precipice to oblivion, defending all that is right and good in this world.............Chauncey. What a guy!
Alright, personal Oxventure Story Time: When I joined Secondary School, I hated it. After a rubbish first week of crying every single day, I got a notification that a channel I liked was streaming the first episode of Oxventure. That was 7 years ago, and this series has honestly raised me. I take my final exams at that same school in a few days and it’s almost fortuitous. I usually don’t open up this sort of thing, but If I didn’t find something to help me through those weeks, I don’t know whether I would still be here. Thanks Guys. Thanks for everything. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
While we're all here together, We should all tell our stories as to why this group means so much to us. Oxventure got me through 2 parents going through cancer going back to back from 2018-2020, lost a brother and a sister in a motorcycle accident in 2019, and yesterday we found out that my best friends husband left her and the two kids that call me uncle. Real life is brutal. Oxventure's been there through it all. People come and go, even characters may die, but the oxventures guild will live forever because of what it means to me. Thank you all for years of laughter and tears of joy ❤ #Lads4life
I'm glad Oxventure's been there for you as it has been for a lot of us. It's something that has been able to bring together so many people across the globe. #Lads4life
Oxventure was on repeat a lot during lockdown one. I still play the podcasts on my phone when I can’t sleep. It’s a powerful thing this Oxventure, so glad this is only the end of one chapter and things are just getting started
Egbert with possibly one of the most chaotic round ever, bashing the enemy for huge damage, summoning the queen of spore, resisting a potentially fatal disease and then turning the queen into a small koala thing within one round is crazy. Corazon's sacrifice, Merilwen's rage at Liliana, Dob's bargain with the skeletons. So many things happened. Im so disappointed at Liliana's betrayal, i wish she learned her lesson but oh well. Her death was also honestly gruesome but it was her choice in the end. Its been a long long journey for the Oxventurer, but im so excited to see where we'll be going next and what Johnny's idea for the next adventure will be. I just wanna say thank you Johnny, Andy, Jane, Mike, Ellen and Luke for everything!
The number of times, Merilwen looks to the camera in exasperation as someone else uses moon beam, made me laugh everytime. Just her face, was sooo funny.
Hello, folks. I found this channel on my recommended, completely out of the blue, maybe a month ago? It immediately caught my eye. I watched the most recent video, then the next, then a few more. Upon seeing the first episode of this season, I wen back and watched season 5 for context, and a few videos into ths final season, I decided to go back and watch every episode from the start. I have been chronically ill for a couple of years now. All the while I’ve been watching oxventure, I’ve been bedbound for 99% of the day, having to pace and conserve energy to be able to eat, or go to the bathroom. The only thing I’ve had energy to DO is watch youtube, basically, and miraculously… oxventure came to me. I have less than twenty videos left to go back and watch, out of over a hundred and twenty. This time has been really difficult for me and although I obviously don’t know you people, nor have I watched your content for very long at all, you’ve made me feel safe, and at home in a… really very uncertain part of my life. I don’t know what the future will hold, for any of us. But boy, am I glad to be a part of this community, and I know wherever oxventure goes, I’ll be watching. Thank you, lads. So much.
As a fellow chronically ill friend, I feel you. Oxventure is often the only thing I have the energy for and it’s been hugely instrumental in keeping me going, I’m glad you have also found some comfort in the adventures
If you want to see more Rust (and who doesn't?), may I recommend watching the Idle Champions videos "Fury of the Black Rose", where Rust and Merilwen have adventures on another world. Not only do we get lots of lovely Rust, but the whole campaign is quite good. The rest of the players, by comparison, are much more serious about things, which is a little odd at first, but I grew to really appreciate it. Merilwen actually gets to have some dramatic scenes and dialogue with people without it being immediately undercut with humor, for example. And it's kind of funny to see Rust and Merilwen in a more serious setting instead of just the "very silly place" they come from, as Rust tells their new friends.
Thank you all for seven years of laughs, feelings and putting your heart and soul into these characters. From five strangers meeting to solve a missing child to allying with your greatest enemy to stop the apocalypse and everything in between.
And so, Everyone Else in the World AND everyone else in the world start tearing up as the camera pulls away on seven years of heartfelt chaos. Absolutely amazing season from beginning to end. It was more polished than Corazon’s boots. ❤ Long live the OGs.
SPOILERS And one last thing - I’m not saying Dob giving Liliana a Pirates of the Caribbean-style kiss mid-fight would have turned the worm and avoided permatortle, but I’m not NOT saying that…
Well, here we are, at the end. One character death, though he turned into a turtle. Dob made a grand old sacrifice, though no one appreciated it. Egbert had the craziest single combat turn perhaps in all of DnD. Prudence finally got the terrifying army she always wanted. And Merrilwen got to kick the absolute snot out of Lilliana. It was a hell of a ride. And now we bid farewell, to Corazon, Dob, Merrilwen, Prudence and Egbert, and to the realm of Geth. Thank you, to all of Oxbox and Oxtra, and especially a massive thanks to Johnny. This was all amazing, from start to finish. Thank you for all of this. Until the next adventure.
this was an amazing end of the series and the moment of Merilwen just wailing on Liliana in a rage after she killed Corazon then her reincarnating Corazon was just perfect and then the twist with Dob and the skeletons was just great lol
I called Lilliana betraying the party after the fight, but it was still shocking in how she did it - I was expecting what was essentially a Phase 2 to the fight rather than _that_ . Very well done, and I think the decision to resolve the aftermath how Johnny did rather than having it be a fight was entirely correct. Hoping Johnny will guest on the podcast to give their reason for Lilliana targeting Merilwyn (It feels _right_ I'm just wondering how they chose it.) Really hoping that energy from after the boss battle remains with the new party and new world, whatever level it starts. Still comedic, but with actual consequences and danger. And looking forward to seeing Andy's Tortlezon costume for future live shows with these characters that you said would be happening. (And to see, mechanically, how Luke and Johnny resolve what happened to Dob at the end of this one)
I'd assume she targeted Merilwen because she was the one most likely to know healing magics like Revivify or Resurrection. Take out the healer, then take out the rest. Plus, let's face it, war criminal jokes aside, Merilwen is probably the most lovable of the team, even in universe. Kill her, and it's quite possible that even if they DO kill Lilianna, that screws up the rest of the team the most. It's like killing Flash in the old Justice League cartoon causing the rest of the team to go Justice Lords.
I figured it was that Lilliana was planning to attack *somebody*, then only made her decision as to who when Merilwen stepped up to talk her out of it.
Holy cow (how fitting for Egbert!), that would be an amazing revelation! hope they'll come back to it in one of the Live shows- or at least in the Podcast's commentary:)
After Corizon died all I could do was cry until the episode ended………. These past 7 years have inspired me to DM and create worlds and people. I hope to be at this caliber some day. You all are phenomenal ❤❤❤ I can’t wait for the new setting 💕💕
Well I'll jump in on the share the personal Oxventure story train. About 7 or 8 years ago my friends and I had just started playing D&D and we had no idea what we were doing. We were spending hours just trying to figure out how combat worked. We were overwhelmed by the complexity and deep history of this game. I turned to the modern encyclopedia that is RUclips for guidance and was met with condescending videos about how the rules system worked or games being played by professional actors that had been going on for years that didn't really teach how to play. I was ready to give up but then I noticed that the channel that made those fun gaming list videos also just started playing D&D. It was amazing to find a group that was just learning this game and had a very similar play style to my group of friends. I've been hooked ever since. Thank you for bringing light and laughter to us all these years. A special thank you to Johnny who helped convinced me to try being the DM and running a campaign of my own. I am no where close to their amazing ability as a story teller, but I will be forever grateful to them for giving me the courage to try.
I'm not crying, You're crying... Shut up! If people are gonna start get all mushy and start "sharing", fine. I came late to Oxventure. I was a fan of Outside Xbox and Outside Xtra, but I hadn't watched any of the DnD games, until about 5 years ago. I had just lost my job (my first time ever being fired) and I had contracted pneumonia, which caused Congestive Heart Failure. After eight days in the hospital, I was finally home and recovering. I was cooking dinner for myself and there was nothing on TV when I got the notification about a DnD Livestream. I figured "what the heck, I like these guys videos, give it a shot." It was the episode "Gnome Alone". I laughed harder then I had in months. I instantly fell in love with the characters and the setting and I've binged every episode multiple times. I was even watching an episode to try and settle myself to sleep at the moment that the entire playlist went private, and when I refreshed, it was on an entirely new channel, this channel... I immediately subscribed. In the same way that the OX Crew became our "para-social friends" during the pandemic (when a respiratory infection probably would have finished me off), the Oxventure became my can't miss event. The thing I look forward to, when i have nothing else to look forward to. Thank you all for that. "Unreal Estate" even inspired me to create a DnD character that I desperately want to play someday. It is my greatest hope to one day blight an Adventuring Party with my hopelessly broken and home brewed Chaotic Evil but lovable quirky Demon (who has sworn vengeance on a certain Pirate, for...Reasons). From Oxventure DnD, through Blades in the Dark and Deadlands, and beyond. For Corazon, Merilwen, Egbert, Prudence, Dob and Literally Everyone Else in the World. Thank you to Andy, Ellen, Mike, Jane, Luke and Johnny. Thanks for all the laughs and the joy (I am going to now also blame you for a few tears) And I look forward to what ever comes next... ❤
Much the same for me. I didn't start watching the Oxventure series until late 2020 (I think). I decided to binge-watch all the episodes over the span of not even a week and I was hooked. I didn't start Blades in the Dark until after the first season was done and I was sad I'd waited. I at least was able to watch Deadlands as each ep released. It's been a hell of a ride and I cannot wait to experience the new world Johnny creates and what all they continue to do on this channel.
Guessing Luke was responsible for the music again? Was great as per 💖 Double whammy of losing normal adult man and Dob so close together, but I'm glad there will be more freedom going forwards for Luke and for Oxtra and for Oxventure as well xx
Headcanon: Dob and Egbert team up to go on their own little adventures in a spin-off where Egbert casts spells on Dob's behalf, allowing Dob to relive his spellcaster days by proxy. Egbert presents himself as a fighter, Dob presents as a paladin, all his spells are slightly delayed because once he declares his intention to cast it he still has to wait for Egbert to actually do so Alternate headcanon: Dob retrains as a rogue Either way I see Prudence taking over the world with her new skeleton blood mage army, I mean that's just a given
In my head the moment that Eggbert dropped that serious divine smite was such an epic moment -- our goofy dragonborn is a paladin afterall🥹 edit : ooops I commented way too early😂😂😂 immediately went south
When I first started D&D I was in serious games that lacked any levity. Then I started watching Oxventure with the Spicy Rat Caper in the Loading Bar and realized that the game could be funny, fun, and with a dash of seriousness. You all changed how I played the game and Johnny changed how I DMed. Thank you! Can't wait for the next adventure!
I don't usually comment, but I want to take the time here to thank you all for making this group and campain - it's been a blast to watch, and I'm looking forward to more, wherever this OXventure takes you next
Long ago, Oxventure inspired me to get into DnD, and it feels so strange to see the original Oxventure come to an end. Thank you all, for the weird and wonderful journey through Geth, Gath and Beyond!
The music as Johnny describes the crystals and how they connect and how it all begins is beautiful. Andy's "Mike!" in response to what he did with rolling a 6 on that mace. I love Johnny's reaction to what happens. I love how he never rolls 6's on that mace, but suddenly he got 2 back to back. Nice. Egbert's face as he says that he's immune to all diseases is the same face Mike made as Silas when he decided to shoot Bellows in the groin in Deadlands. Queen of fungi being turned into basically koala is hysterical and I almost spewed my tea all over my laptop. The amount of facepalms at Dob's antics is still so good. My face, I swear, when Johnny described the eye appearing in the hole and then it teleporting into the sky. Holy shit! I love Andy calling Johnny out for letting the devil out in Deadlands in the fight against Victoria. Aw, Chauncey is back. Ah, fuck. Like, oh wow. I was not expecting that at all. I got way too into this. I was in immediate tears. Hell yeah, Merilwyn! What?! Reincarnate?! What?! Holy cow. I'm speechless. Okay, Andy throwing that pen or whatever at Luke being a Dob with Corazon's body is a pure Andy move, not a Corazon move. I love it. Oh man, Dob. Oh guys. This has been one hell of a ride. Absolutely amazing. I admit I didn't get into Oxventure and D&D until the start of Covid and I binge-watched everything that was out then to be caught up. I then watched Blades in the Dark and then Deadlands. Everything. Things can be pretty damn dark and you guys are a wonderful bright light in it all for me. I know that's cheesy, but I truly look forward to every new episodes. I cannot wait to see what comes next. Thank for you for this journey and for sharing it with us.
I just realized Johnny interrupted Liliana's pointed step away from them just so Alfred could use his moonbeam scroll. I also feel like Johnny needed the laugh Chauncey gave them given what they were about to start doing. I wonder if Merilwyn was always going to be intended target of the spell or if Johnny decided on it after the battle royale episode. Also, also, if Corazon hadn't jumped in front of her then no one would have been able to bring Corazon back. I think she's the only one with that spell, and I love how Ellen clearly thought ahead and prepared it just in case someone got killed in this one. Oh, I forgot about Egbert being a paladin and I think paladins have a spell to bring someone back. I think. Johnny really phenomenally showed how evil Liliana was. I'm not sure they've played such an evil character like that before.
An honest super heart felt thank you to the entire Oxventure team. Preproduction, crew and cast and post production. You have taken us on a true journey. Not only with suprisingly good story telling. But through showing us that starting small can lead to big things. From an arcade bar, to this production value. Gfx, music, art design, costume, acting. Every bit grew season by season. The characters grew so much, but stayed true to themselves. A bunch of lucky idiots to the end. I am thankful for your bravery to start this journey. And your wisdom to know how to end it. Johnny, I think you are my hero. Because you made DnD accessable for new commers and fun. And as the game grew, so did our knowledge and interest in the game. You really can see the effort put into this. And this from a whole group who apperently have actual lives. And full time jobs. This series meant a lot to me through some personal horrible and also really good times. I knew that I could always come home, and sit down with my idiot friends and see how they successfully mess everything up. Just so many thank yous. So much love from South Africa (Ps. Sorry for my bad English)
it all started with somehow a flavourful rat, and here we are around 6 years later, it's hard to say goodbye to all of these amazing characters and I still can't believe that we have to say goodbye when we still don't know Egbert true power, I mean only in this finale know we know that Egbert is immune to all kind of diseases, but hey, there's a "good" in goodbye, right? so yeah, thanks for the amazing adventures through the years, and can't wait for the new adventures
Johnny Chiodini you magnificent tricksy bastard. I'm so mad and so happy and so grateful. Holy wow. Thank you all so much. I've said it before but this series was everything to me in the early pandemic when I was scared and sad and stressed beyond belief and has been a huge comfort and joy for the last several years. I've adored these characters and you've all made me smile and laugh when times were rough. I can't wait to see what you do next and I appreciate you and love the world you've shared with us. And dear god Johnny, FUCKING OW!
I stuck this on the big screen with some gin and saw this off with the fanfare it deserves. Firstly, Johnny, you're a real gem of a human that i aspire to. When you were tearful at the end, you got me too. Everyone else is just as amazing, and I can't wait to see what characters you come up with next. Been here from the begining, and like many others, your group dynamic has kept me sane and brought me hours of laughter and joy. Never change Oxventurers Guild.
For anyone curious, I'm pretty sure Johnny used the "Gargantua" statblock from "Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants" for the big boss that was killed by all the moonbeams. I haven't done any calculations to see if they changed the statblock around somehow (although the rock dealing 12 damage requires rolling a 4 on 3d10, so probably), but here's the basic rundown of what our brave-ish heroes absolutely obliterated this time around: CR 21 388 Hitpoints Strength +8 +7 proficiency bonus DC 19 Wisdom save at the start of each turn or 17 (5d6) psychic damage if you're within 30ft Bonus actions that allow it to teleport or curse a creature to be temporarily incapacitated (one of the few monster statblocks with bonus actions!) And finally, reactions that allow it to copy someone's spells or smack smaller enemies that attack it 100 ft away I've gotta say, while I was hoping / exited for a big, serious fight, I had no idea how fun it would be to watch the oxventurers do what they do best - killing bosses in virtually no time flat. Also, let me give you this for Zuggtmoy as she appeared in Mordenkainens Tome of Foes real quick as well, just to show you how nearly Egbert ruined everything: CR 23 (Even higher than the actual boss itself!) 304 Hitpoints resistant to cold, fire and lightning damage immune to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage a bunch of spells like entangle, etherealness and teleport Legendary resistances Magic resistance (advantage on all saves against magic) Three tentacle attacks on a turn, or cones of magic spores that can give you a lethal illness or make you charmed by her Reactions that let her force a charmed creature to take damage for her Legendary actions that let her attack three more times total or command someone who is charmed So yeah, well done Egbert. Good job turning that thing back before everyone died and then became fungus zombies.
Poor Dob now can’t even do the easiest spell ever: Moonbeam. But jest aside, thank you for this series. I’m gonna miss these characters but looking forwards to seeing what you do next!
As fitting as it might be that “anyone can cast moonbeam” is the plot point that ultimately slays the big bad, I can’t help but feel the apocalyptic threat of the seal coming undone has been taken out back and shot by the fact that the day was saved by a bunch of NPCs placing spell scrolls of damage over the portal.
I don’t comment much but I would like to thank all of the oxventure crew for making all of the great memories. And helping through crippling depression. I hope you embrace the good times yet to come.
I can't believe it's over. Even now, I'm struggling to type this comment out without crying or getting emotional. Oxventure was _the_ D&D series for me for years, and even after getting into the game myself, finding so many different actual plays and delving deeper into the world of TTRPGs, the Oxventure remains my favourite, the one dearest to my heart. These five silly heroes and their devil-may-care approach to saving the world, without them I don't think I'd be anywhere near the person I am today. Thank you, all of you. Johnny, Andy, Luke, Ellen, Mike and Jane. Thanks for telling an amazing, hilarious, and emotional story over all these years. Here's to many more.
Thank you, everyone, for seven amazing years of adventure! Johnny, for a great setting and so many fun stories. Ellen, for the beary funny puns and laughs. Jane, for being just evil and wholesome enough to be funny instead of distruptive. Andy, for the high adventure spirit. Mike, for being the most relateable roleplayer on the internet (Egbert is my favorite character, don't tell the others). And Luke, for schenanigans and the music, both literally in terms of the background sounds and within the story. And a special shout out to the production theme and the cool ass set at the Loading Bar (what a way the set has come since the Spicy Rat Caper, too!). This truly truly has been not just a critical hit to the brain, but also a critical hit to the heart. ❤️ I will miss all of these characters and NPCs, and the wonderous flat land of Geth with its magical heaven cow and its sky coming down at night, but I am looking forward to what's next!
Standard Egbert MVP moment, Corazon doing something unbelievably selfless, rage Merilwen and Johnny being absolutely amazing. Loved this and loved the last seven years, thanks
There’s much to say but I’m at a loss for words! That was incredible. Thank you for an amazing 7 year journey of full of fun, laughs, boss “fights”, hi-jinx, banter! Can’t wait to see these 5 again someday… …but am looking to Johnny’s new world and whatever characters the gang cooks up! Here’s to the Oxventurers Guild!🍻
This gang hauled me through some tough times in the deep dark depths of 2020-2021. They were my go to insomnia friends; I would fall asleep to them because it kept things light and kept me out of my own head. Grateful for them and for this whole community of silly nerdy good people! Will miss this crew, but am excited to see what’s to come!
I just want to say thank you! Every adventure has brought laughter and tears and joy and I am so thankful to each and every one of you! Lads Lads Lads!
I'm usually ever so eager to watch any & all new Oxventure Guild adventures, but I dragged my feet on this one for weeks knowing full well that it was the end & that it was going to make me cry. Good or bad, endings are endings, and never fail to make me sad. All that said, this was a fantastic finale to what has been a truly epic journey. Yes, I cried, but I was there for every moment of the ride & laughed so hard & so often that there's an ache in me side. It's been an honor & a pleasure, my friends. We'll always have Moonbeam. 🌔
I followed the Oxventure at the start when it was meant to be just a silly one-time thing, and I loved it, but eventually for whatever reason I fell off watching around 2019. Just before the pandemic I moved out of my parents' house and started a new job multiple hours away; I get about 6 months of normalcy before the pandemic hits and my world (and mental health) changes permanently. Early 2021 or so I see that the Blades in the Dark campaign is starting and I think, why not keep up with that? I loved it and immediately went to catch back up on the normal Oxventure too! Since then this show has been a constant treat to follow and a great guaranteed laugh. I don't have it as bad as many other people but it's still a nice pick-me-up when things start to weigh on me, and thank all of you for that, genuinely. I also just think all 6 of you are such lovely kind people and talented writers/improvisors and I'm so happy you continue to share your work with us. In particular I'm so happy that I was introduced to Johnny thru this series. I came out as nonbinary maybe a couple of months before Johnny came out themselves publicly, and honestly seeing them helped me out so much with feeling more comfortable with my own identity. I guess seeing that Johnny could change their public identity, change their pronouns, yet still be unabashedly themself (perhaps even more themself than before) really made me feel empowered to be more myself, too. In particular I often feel weird that I haven't physically changed myself all that much to "match" my new identity, but Johnny hasn't physically changed that much either, and they seem so comfortable and happy still, which helps me feel more comfortable too. Sorry it's a bit rambly but I just am so grateful. Thank you all so much, it's been a pleasure and I look forward to seeing the new campaign!!
The Oxventurers have meant so much to me since I discovered them in 2019. They kept me company through Covid and severe, chronic depression and I’ll always cherish these adventures (and continue to rewatch episode after episode every few months 😂💗). Thanks for everything, you six ♡
Corazon, Dob, Egbert, Merilwen, Prudence, I'm going to miss you, thanks for the good show you've given us over the years, thanks for getting me into Dungeons & Dragons, and specifically thanks to the great Johnny Chiodini (although the players are fantastic as well) for being somewhat of an inspiration to me as a fellow non-binary storyteller and dungeon master, I truly cannot wait to see what you all have coming up next
I can't believe it's ending. Oxventure was what really brought me and my boyfriend together, back when we were just friends. Watching Oxventure videos and seeing the live shows was our thing. Over the last 7 years, I've gone through losing my dad to cancer, various relationship break ups and new relationships, my mum being diagnosed with terminal cancer but these guys have always put a smile on my face. Thank you for all of the presh mems amid the darkness and I can't wait to see what comes next ❤
Oxventure started right around the same time that I started playing D&D at uni. Pretty much all of my characters have had some sort of oxventure reference as a part of who they are, because oxventure was and still is so incredibly important to me. Thank you for being there as I went on my own D&D adventures and while I'm absolutely certain that I'll continue to love all things Oxventure, this particular set of characters will always have a special place in my life. Thanks for all the presh mems and here's to many, many more in the future.
I wasn't ready for this to end. And now that it's over, I'm still not ready. In all seriousness, this was the greatest episode of Oxventure to date. The stakes felt real, and the emotional reactions, in and out of character, felt raw. And as much as I wasn't ready for this to end, I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing what you all have in store for us next. And luckily for me, I've been in a slow but steady Oxventure podcast relisten (can confirm, it's just as funny the third time around), so it's not even really over for me.
Way to go Johnny. All the hard work you put into this was seen every step, and no different for the this spectacular finale. The level 6 moon beam scrolls were bang on. A full circle kind of moment that just felt right. The great chemistry you guys have makes it a joy to watch. Sad to see it end, but also looking forward to the next chapter. Now we can finally yell to the oxventurers..."GO TO BED!"
This is an episode of escalation and one-ups between Johnny and the Oxventurers, resulting in a wild roller-coaster ride of emotions. I cant wait for the new campaign season, so we can see what new weird character Mike presents us. And how many orphans Luke can accidentally kill.
When Corizon sacrificed himself and died, I literally screamed and had looks from everyone around me. And Merilwin throwing practically everything at Liliana... Not saying Ellen did a bad thing, but I would've gone bear mode and mauled her. A very dramatic end, and Johnny should definitely be proud of himself for what they all made.
I was in instant tears. One moment no tears and then next tears streaming down my face. I didn't know I could cry that quickly. I'm rewatching it and when it got there again I was crying a bit even knowing it all turns out mostly fine in the end. Johnny really outdid themselves with this one.
In fairness she did it perfectly cos like merilwen just acting in rage and not thinking and just attacking out of instinct and throwing anything she can at liliana. Yeah could've gone bear, octopus or whatever but like its perfectly in character she's not thinking and just wailing on her over and over
It's crazy to think that it was through the Oxventure and the Spicy Rat that I got into DND. I was my groups DM which in turn got me back into Creative writing. Many wonderful memories later with our adventurers later I've now published my first ever book and have an entire fantasy series planned. None of which would have happened without you wonderful people. It is always bitter sweet to say goodbye to characters you love but excited to see the future of the Oxventure
This season, but especially this episode, was such a rollercoaster and I'm still processing everything that happened. What a wild ride it's been, and to think, this all started because you wanted to do a special one-time DND game for reaching a milestone. I'm so psyched to see what's next in the new setting!
I only stumbled across oxventure due to the oxbox video of Johnny talking abt advice for GMs in dnd. I heard of it before when I was in my teens and delved deeper into the oxventure vids cuz that vid made me interested in learning how to play it. Granted, oxventure is very chaotic and it took me a while to learn to play Dnd RAW properly, I really enjoyed making my characters to have a really weird obsession or occasionally do something outlandish cuz I just want to bring a little oxventure spirit to the table. It has gotten me through tough times and even a major relationship breakup and I always recommend to anyone who plays dnd now! PS: I hope that Ellen will notice that you can play as other cute animal races like an Owlin or a Harengon! PLEASE LET EVERYONE PLAY WITH THE OTHER SOURCEBOOKS ON THEIR NEXT ADVENTURE! EVEN IF ITS JUST FOR THE RACES
Heck, DND Beyond just added the humblewood setting with more animal races. Honestly, I'd absolutely love to just have Ellen join the long term DMing with that setting or something similar. And yeah I really want to see what the team does for new characters with the new sourcebooks, and maybe some of the third party books too. I mean I know it may be too similar to Prudence, but there's a cool Vampire Warlock subclass in the Grim Hollow 3rd party book that just seems tailor made for Jane.
Thanks for the absolute blast of an adventure all these years!! Didn't expect things to go a bit FMA at the end there, but I really appreciated Johnny's commitment to not render the journey over the seasons to be cast aside for some cheap feel good pandering. Really led to some touching moments, and great comedy as is the group's wont. As many have professed so far, this whole series has been a great boon to us all, especially during the pandemic, and much as I have done so before, I will definitely keep coming back to this many more times. Looking forward to what comes next!
I remember watching the best moments video and lead me down this rabbit hole of the amazing and wacky adventure of oxventure. Just have to say Johnny is absolute inspiration for me when it comes to DMing, love their style and how they roll with the silliness. Helped me map out a few campaigns in the future!
OXOX
For the foreseeable future, eh? Sounds like a sequel in the works 😉
Thank you for making this. These characters have been real friends. It has meant so much to so many. The song for Johnny (brilliant song) introduced me to Luke’s music. You will be missed
Thank you for the beautiful journey!
Thank you for this amazing seven year journey ❤️Looking forward to what the future brings for you!
Thank you so much for the glorious ride! Can't wait to see what's next! 💜💚
Totally agree! I would love a debrief 💀
A behind the scenes send off interview with all of them together and individually answering questions about their favourite adventure / moment / npc / adversary, etc. would be amazing.
Definitely.
I haven't subbed to a YT membership or their Patreon yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if one/both gave access to an unlisted video on precisely this.
Yes, this please!

Judging by the likes, your story made me and at least 47 other people smile. That’s a really sweet anecdote, thanks for sharing.
It just occured to me that as a rabies survivor, Dob probably hid all the gold in a lake because he just assumed everyone else was as scared of water as he used to be.
Thats hilarious🤣
I don't think he had that much planning . Dob is just chaos.. at least the 1st couple seasons . I honestly stopped Watching half way of season 3 because I really hate Dob. He didnt even play him as chaotic ... just a dick head who tries to ruin everything and if I was playing. There would be a sit down with dob saying next time u fuck it all up or throw away our gold, we will kill u in this game *or leave you loat in the woods if the group is full of goody two shoes) and find a new adventure at the next town. I know it's for comic relief but that type of player can fuck up whole campaigns.
Corazon's arc from abandoning his crew to standing with these guys facing death was good character work.
Playing their song Literally Everyone Else in the World in the background as everything wrapped up was a nice touch
Oh my God, I didn't even notice. That's amazing!
Not ashamed to admit I shed a little tear at that point. What a perfect ending ❤
@@bigaj6901 Same. The moment I recognised the melody, I became very emotional
I became very emotional and nostalgic at that too. 😢
After seven years, it's finally time to say goodbye... what a journey. And to think it wasn't even meant to go on this long, just a single special session with a spicy rat way back in the day 😢
Well, Disney started with a mouse.
And Egbert want even there for the first one, because kidling if I remember correctly
"When will there be consequences for Egbert?!"
It's so good to see that some things never change, even after 7 years 😂
Years played: 7
Lessons learned: 0
Spoilers below:
I can't believe that no consequence is too large for the Oxventurers to wriggle out of, not even death, which they still refuse to deal with in a healthy or dignified manner.
@@zerin25 I mean if they go with the new tortle version he could put a +2 in dex which probably would make it higher.
Turtle power.
what if for a live show they travel back in time to fishmas carol since egberts roll of 1-1 resulted in him seeing a ninja turtle that was actually a barrel of piss but now that corazons a rogue tortle he could be the ninja turtle
Since, to my knowledge, johnny knows what spells they have I wonder if that is why they had Liliana try to kill Merrilwen.
Because if Corazon hadn't saved her they might not have been able to bring her back.
Ah yes the classic story of Johnny being hoisted by the petard of there own whimsy
I really hoisted myself this time, hey
Egbert: "It's not so bad. I've got tons of spells and don't even use them. Like," looks at spell list, "Revivify? What even is that?"
there is a 0% chance Egbert prepared revivify.

Alright, personal Oxventure Story Time:
When I joined Secondary School, I hated it.
That’s an amazing story. Thank goodness you got through those tough times and got to enjoy years of Oxventure. Good luck with those exams
And now you're a doctor with children of your own going off to secondary school... how time flies eh🥲
Thank you all for years of laughter and tears of joy ❤

Thanks for sharing, and good luck to you. Chronic illness is a beast. Sending love and well wishes from Texas.
Thanks for sharing, it's great how many of us have found the series in times of hardship and found some light in the darkness.
Welcome to the Guild friend, glad you're here with us because we're all with you watching where the next iteration goes
Another chronically ill friend here. Oxventure has seen me through thick and thin and we're thrilled to have you here with us!
We need to see Alfred Strangetide and Rust on the Harbor one last time!
The soundtrack of the sudden but inevitable betrayal was just the best. It had all the emotions in there beautifully.
SPOILERS And one last thing - I’m not saying Dob giving Liliana a Pirates of the Caribbean-style kiss mid-fight would have turned the worm and avoided permatortle, but I’m not NOT saying that…
I thought Johnny was hinting that Dob should offer the body of the horrible creature that came out of the hole. But all his magic works I suppose.
Personally, I was expecting him to offer all of the bones in the Necropolis-on-Sea boneyard.
Hoping Johnny will guest on the podcast to give their reason for Lilliana targeting Merilwyn (It feels _right_ I'm just wondering how they chose it.)
Really hoping that energy from after the boss battle remains with the new party and new world, whatever level it starts. Still comedic, but with actual consequences and danger. And looking forward to seeing Andy's Tortlezon costume for future live shows with these characters that you said would be happening. (And to see, mechanically, how Luke and Johnny resolve what happened to Dob at the end of this one)
I assumed she targeted Merilwen cos she was the one who wanted her to promise not to betray them.
I do also sometimes think Johnny rolls a dice to make a decision so it could be random.
"Saving throw for chlamydia?" ... Corazon's in high form 😂😂
The reincarnation spell… did we just find out how Egbert became a Dragonborn? 🤯
😱
Holy cow (how fitting for Egbert!), that would be an amazing revelation! hope they'll come back to it in one of the Live shows- or at least in the Podcast's commentary:)
Oh shit
Oh, right, we never got the answer to that mystery. Seems like a reasonable hypothesis now, but I'd kinda like to actually know.
That confirms it, they have to come back so Mike can finally divulge that backstory secret
Now it's like the end of a good book, a favourite TV show or a great video game - I feel sad and happy at the same time.
Thank you, just thank you!
And that is the story about how a ragtag group of strangers become Geth’s saviors. The oxventures guild
Was great as per 💖
Double whammy of losing normal adult man and Dob so close together, but I'm glad there will be more freedom going forwards for Luke and for Oxtra and for Oxventure as well xx
did anyone else just immediately start weeping when "Literally Everyone Else in the World" started playing? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
😭😭😭 meeeeee
Egbert finally does a paladin thing and is IMMEDIATELY more powerful than a god
Headcanon: Dob and Egbert team up to go on their own little adventures in a spin-off where Egbert casts spells on Dob's behalf, allowing Dob to relive his spellcaster days by proxy. Egbert presents himself as a fighter, Dob presents as a paladin, all his spells are slightly delayed because once he declares his intention to cast it he still has to wait for Egbert to actually do so
Alternate headcanon: Dob retrains as a rogue
Either way I see Prudence taking over the world with her new skeleton blood mage army, I mean that's just a given
10/10 no notes. Always knew Egbert was the true powerhouse
my heart is in a hundred tiny pieces. thank you all so much for everything that lead to this
Great show. i particularly enjoyed "WHEN WILL THERE BE CONSIQUENCES FOR EGBERTS ACTIONS!"
I appreciate even at the end, Mike is forgetting Paladin abilities, like his aura for saves. Yet he remembers his other stuff that's just as funny.
Am I the only one who wants a spin off called "Teenage Mutant Ninja Tortozon" ?
They crawled into her burning ring of fire! And it burns, burns, burns, as the damage rolls higher!
What song is this from? I feel like I've heard it but can't put a finger on it
@@Aliuro modified version of a Johnny Cash song
@@lespaulpanhead025 thanks, haven't heard it actually. Did not expect it to be as cheery as it was)
I don't usually comment, but I want to take the time here to thank you all for making this group and campain - it's been a blast to watch, and I'm looking forward to more, wherever this OXventure takes you next
So much love from South Africa
(Ps. Sorry for my bad English)
"When will Egburt ever face consequences" i almost choked laughing
it all started with somehow a flavourful rat, and here we are around 6 years later, it's hard to say goodbye to all of these amazing characters and I still can't believe that we have to say goodbye when we still don't know Egbert true power, I mean only in this finale know we know that Egbert is immune to all kind of diseases, but hey, there's a "good" in goodbye, right? so yeah, thanks for the amazing adventures through the years, and can't wait for the new adventures
I haven't done any calculations to see if they changed the statblock around somehow (although the rock dealing 12 damage requires rolling a 4 on 3d10, so probably), but here's the basic rundown of what our brave-ish heroes absolutely obliterated this time around:
CR 21
388 Hitpoints
Strength +8
+7 proficiency bonus
DC 19 Wisdom save at the start of each turn or 17 (5d6) psychic damage if you're within 30ft
Bonus actions that allow it to teleport or curse a creature to be temporarily incapacitated (one of the few monster statblocks with bonus actions!)
And finally, reactions that allow it to copy someone's spells or smack smaller enemies that attack it 100 ft away
I've gotta say, while I was hoping / exited for a big, serious fight, I had no idea how fun it would be to watch the oxventurers do what they do best - killing bosses in virtually no time flat.
Also, let me give you this for Zuggtmoy as she appeared in Mordenkainens Tome of Foes real quick as well, just to show you how nearly Egbert ruined everything:
CR 23 (Even higher than the actual boss itself!)
304 Hitpoints
resistant to cold, fire and lightning damage
immune to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage
a bunch of spells like entangle, etherealness and teleport
Legendary resistances
Magic resistance (advantage on all saves against magic)
Three tentacle attacks on a turn, or cones of magic spores that can give you a lethal illness or make you charmed by her
Reactions that let her force a charmed creature to take damage for her
Legendary actions that let her attack three more times total or command someone who is charmed
So yeah, well done Egbert.
This series seriously helped my depressive episodes through the last 6 years, it means so much to me and it feels so fulfilling it’s ending
What a bitter sweet birthday this is for me; to see the end to a saga but to see it in all its glory
With all said and done, we have to wonder:
...
Does Dob still have _somebody else's_ magic in him?
Dob climbing up to the mountain when he dies is too funny of a concept to overwrite, IMO
There’s much to say but I’m at a loss for words! That was incredible. Thank you for an amazing 7 year journey of full of fun, laughs, boss “fights”, hi-jinx, banter! Can’t wait to see these 5 again someday…
…but am looking to Johnny’s new world and whatever characters the gang cooks up!

Corazon, Dob, Egbert, Merilwen, Prudence, I'm going to miss you,
thanks for the good show you've given us over the years, thanks for getting me into Dungeons & Dragons, and specifically thanks to the great Johnny Chiodini (although the players are fantastic as well) for being somewhat of an inspiration to me as a fellow non-binary storyteller and dungeon master, I truly cannot wait to see what you all have coming up next
Today’s the day… I’m not ready to say goodbye yet 😭😭😭
Love the heart: A storyteller imbues the best campaigns with a piece of themselves, a rare quality to find.
