    Hey there! Thank you for the video 💕 I was wondering in machine settings under the rotary parameters, should my diameter be set for the tumbler diameter or roller diameter?

    I just got a Pi Burn 3.0. I seen where you didn't have to mirror your image. I had to mirror my image for it to work. Is there a setting I missed?

      You might have it placed backwards on your machine. Make sure the motor is on the right. :)

    Do you need to flip the Y switch on the side of the machine as well? You didn't show it in this tutorial, but you have to do it with the rotary that ships with the Mira.

    • @ThatMomWithALaser
      @ThatMomWithALaser  3 года назад +2

      You don’t! Also, the newer MIRAs don’t require that step for the basic rotary anymore either 😃

    • @ThatMomWithALaser
      @ThatMomWithALaser  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! Of course you can. It usually depends on the design. I’d say the average is between 3-6 minutes. A full wrap around the entire would be longer again depending on the amount of detail in the design.

    Hi, I set mine up last night and all is good except it’s not spinning. Any pointers? It will raster and vector but it won’t turn like it’s supposed to. It will turn when I turn on the machine though while it homes. Any thoughts? Maybe there’s like one switch I’m missing?

    • @ThatMomWithALaser
      @ThatMomWithALaser  Год назад

      Hmmm. If you are plugged in, have updated your machine and rotary settings but is still behaving that way I would contact PiBurn directly. They are the experts with these kinds of things. ☺️

      @@ThatMomWithALaser Thanks for your reply, I was able to fix it. I had a mystery toggle switch in the bottom of my machine that I think was treating off the x-axis. These tumblrs turned out great.

      @@ThatMomWithALaser On a sidenote I have found another problem with my machine. I have a big FL 1390. It’s 4 feet wide and 40 inches back. At this time I can only engrave one ornament at a time. It’s terrible. My ornament is nested in Groot at about 3 1/2 inches wide by 7 inches. There’s some letters that I am cutting out that I mount on top of the ornament. If I group it and put another one in it’s just not burning up some of the vector cuts. Or if I stop the project and it homes and restart the project to cut through a spot that didn’t make it through, it starts an eighth of an inch lower from the original spot. Not sure if you know what’s going on here but man if you did! I love you long time and send you some money for your wisdom.

    I notice you dont seem to mask your products when you use you laser. Why is that? I was looking at glowforge and they mask everything. But they are pretty limited. Cant use a rotary..

    • @ThatMomWithALaser
      @ThatMomWithALaser  3 года назад

      Hi, Carmen. A Glowforge cannot be connected to an air compressor. As a result, most GF users use masking tape to keep their materials clean. The freedom to use an air compressor allows for cleaner cuts and engravings. I used to mask a lot in the beginning because I learned it from the Glowforge community. Later on I realized it wasn't necessary so now I don't really use it unless I have pre-painted material.

    • @ThatMomWithALaser
      @ThatMomWithALaser  3 года назад +1

      That's correct. A GF does not have rotary capabilities.

    What are the differences on the mira 5 and 7?

    • @ThatMomWithALaser
      @ThatMomWithALaser  3 года назад +1

      The main difference is size and depth. The Mira 5 has a smaller cut space and less Z depth. It will also be a little slower because of the tube wattage. The larger the tube, the deeper it can cut and the faster it will engrave. You can see all of the specs via the Aeon button on my site. www.thatmomwithalaser.co. Feel free to reach out if you have more questions.

    • @ThatMomWithALaser
      @ThatMomWithALaser  3 года назад

      @@mrssnookies1 you mean with the Mira 5? Yes. It technically can only cylindrical items with a 2” diameter but I know several people who rig it to do regular sized tumblers, ha. Are you in my Facebook community? I can tag you in their posts there to show you. You’ll find the link on my site as well.

    I just realized this rotary will allow you to engrave tapered bottles. So its overkill design is justified.

  • @tylerrogers3

    Have you ever tried to do any firearms or is that strictly fiber lasers

    • @JamesReedy
      @JamesReedy 2 года назад +1

      The rotary isn’t particularly germane to that but you can remove anodize on AR-15/10 receivers and the like. CO2 won’t directly mark metals without marking compounds like Cermark etc. If you want mark firearms directly or knives etc a Fiber laser is the right tool. They’re also far more compact and a lot faster and more precise. They will however not cut anything.
      There are dual mode machines from Epilog but they’re a compromise on the fiber aspect and atrociously expensive.
