I really adore the new animations you've added and the info. Such an amazing quick easy and very informative tutorial that's easy to relate. Thanks so much Alex

i never imagined that a person could essentially be self taught how to do this. Didn't even know it was possible to create something like this without years of piano, and experience playing in an orchestra
Your talent is extraordinary. Not sure why you feel you have to talk 2 times faster than normal people. It saddens me because it's just makes it unwatchable for me and yet I know your teaching fantastic content and have a real gift. I'm sure for those already well informed about the content it's perfect for me it feels as if the video is sped up beyond comprehension! Thank you for taking the time to make this. I hope you might consider just slowing it down a bit in future videos!
Alex, you've really encouraged me a lot. The first video I ever watched from you a few months ago changed my life, Thank you for being in my recommendations that particular day ^ u ^
You know....I'm extremely jealous of you and your very being and what you are doing and what inspire you are literally what I dreamed of doing since I was young. I start making random songs since 8 but asian parents being asian parents, composing is for the poor and they go against it every way possible and even delete all my files and my works. And to be frank....you are honestly really good, and it pisses me off I'll just eat up my pride and just watch you you and learn your stuff....-_-
Hey Alex, percussionist here. Good video, but there's something you really need to consider - while timpani drums are tuned instruments, they can't be tuned rapidly on the fly. Adjusting the pitch of a drum involves using pedals, which take time to adjust, and if you try to adjust the pitch while the drum is ringing out, the note will audibly bend. Generally speaking, you rarely have more than 4 or maybe 5, at a push, drums to work with, so you can't use more than that many notes during a passage (If you think that's limiting, look at composers from the Classical era, who could only work with 2 drums, which were usually tuned to the root and the fifth of the key.) Now let's look at the section at 5:55. You've got 7 different notes being played in one fairly quick passage. Unless the player is surrounded by timpani drums, there is no way in hell that section will be playable live. Think about the timpani drums as an instrument that can accent the main notes being played in the bass line, not an instrument for playing the bass line itself. Under no circumstances should you ever just copy the bass line onto the timpani drums (unless the bass line is very very simple). Yes, in this context, you can do it on your computer with VST and it'll sound great, but what happens if you walk into a live session with a real orchestra and put a part in front of a player that's written like that. All you'll get is a very confused looking percussionist, who'll have to explain to you that the part you've written is impossible to play. Not trying to be rude, just trying to alert you to a very common error you're making. Hope it helps. :)
Hey there PAldous, Thanks for pointing this out. I'm actually aware of that and said that in the original take of the video, however, since I wanted this to be a short video I didn't go so much into detail about all of my choices (regarding timpani as much as everything else). My take is that I don't really care about following rules to that extent since this is in the digital domain and I can go beyond certain limitations thanks to VST. If I were to write for a real orchestra, I would keep that in mind, but since I'm not, there's no point for me. Same goes for my string staccatos and some crazy cello legato lines I write sometimes
I'm assuming some of the layers are there for a supplementary purpose, Therefore it's okay if some aren't really audible right? If so how do you know how to mix this kind of thing where you need space for so many instruments, What do you tend to focus on?, Btw thanks in advance! I really wanted to see this
awesome !!!love this channel .i am beginner in orchestral music.i have a doubt.what's the difference between arranging on solo instruments and ensemble. sorry for my poor english
I don't know if we can write these through fl studio, what's the difference between us and real musicians? the thing alex wrote could easily be in a mcu movie, specially if an orchestra actually plays it.
Hello! I’m a huge fan of your work (mainly your remix of Rude Buster)! I was just wondering, do you take song requests? And if so, could you make an orchestral arrangement of “Your Best Nightmare” from Undertale? It’s not often you find GOOD orchestral remixes of that song, and I’m fairly certain that you can do it. Thanks in advance!
In 5 minuti sei riuscito a riassumere dei concetti che normalmente apprenderei altrove nell'arco di settimane, il tutto con una chiarezza disarmante. Sei un mito, Alex. Ps. hai mai rielaborato/ricreato qualche colonna sonora di Attack on titan?
Rogie Pañares Music, it is this one: performancesamples.com/oceania/. Only does loud and bold and has very few articulations, but it is arguably the most playable bold choir on the market.
I love this but I'm also seeing thousands of dollars in software. I could probably learn how to do this with months of dedicated studying but I won't be able to afford all these programs. With the free or cheaper software, the same results are just not possible...

why does it piss you off that he is good. If you want to to learn something from him it would be bad for you if he wasn't good. Makes no sense overall

couldn't you have 2 timpani players standing next to each other?

This looks so damn professional!

this is insane.

I can't see where I can download the stems, there is no button. I would really like to but if I click the link there is still no way to download them.
Such an easy and effortless explanation, where can I find the sounds and VSTs (Rhapsody orchestral... Etc. Etc.)
Can you make the stems available again ? It would help my understanding of the arrangement better

I may have missed you saying this but how did you get the piano music get in Midi in the first place? Did you import it someway?
Is it those melody, you used in those crazy Russian orchestral video?:D
Greetz from Russia ;)
do you have videos on music theories?
Great tips, Alex! Thanks! :)
May I ask what video editor are you using with this video ?
Xsplit to record, Adobe Premiere to edit
Very good tutorial, thank you
Would you suggest using key switches or a track per articulation?
Plugin delay compensation for the effects or the midi ??
Which vst you are using for orchestra/violin, viola and cello

i really like this higher production value and the aim to geteverything into 5 Minutes, but this feels a little bit rushed.
