*PLEASE READ FOR ANYONE WHO HAS LEGITIMATE CONCERNS ABOUT T-SLUR VOICE*
I don't want to entertain any criticisms from K*lvin, but I know a lot about the voice because I'm a trained singer and have worked with several vocal coaches. The t-slur voice has literally nothing to do with your hormone levels or the second puberty development of a persons voice. The t-slur voice is caused by a person whose vocal chords have thickened quickly and that person has not changed what part of the head their voice is resonating from. People who are AFAB and have been conditioned to "speak like women" tend to produce sound with their larynx higher, soft pallet lower, and the voice resonating towards the middle of the mouth. When someone who speaks this way has their vocal cords thicken (an effect of T) but do not lower their larynx and raise their soft pallet, and "pull their voice back", the sound they produce will be a little higher in pitch, sharper in tone, and more nasally than how you might imagine a typical cis man to speak. That's literally it. It's not "just the way your voice is because you were given hormones incorrectly". It is something you CAN change, but you don't have if you don't want to to because if that's how you speak and you like it that's cool and anyone who mistreats you for that is a shitty person!
I hope this helps you to understand that Kalvin is just full of shit. In the best case scenario Kalvin is lying about his endocrinologist saying that, in the worst case scenario, Kalvin's endocrinologist who has worked with over a thousand trans people actually has no idea what they're talking about when it comes to the vocal chords... Either way, not a good look.
me and other afab trans ppl i know also have an issue where we feel like we have to speak in a higher voice so that other people wont perceive us as aggressive

I've been listening to MTF people's lessons on voice feminization and I'm sure there is a masculine counterpart to it. Someone's current voice doesn't have to be their 'natural' voice. A voice can very much be changed! It's not easy but it's possible (':

Just gonna vent :P im trans enby, he/they, and my dad has known im trans for a several years now. Hes been against me being trans since the beginning. But when i first got outed (was not my choice btw) i was transmedicalist and thought i had to be as masculine as possible. So i stopped waxing my eye brows, wore exclusively masculine clothes, and even forced myself to use masculine mannerisms (lower pitch at the end of sentences, more wide, confident poses, even stuck out my thumb while flipping people off, yes i did watch kalvin garrah why do you ask?) And now, as ive mostly shed my transmedicalist mannerisms, im re-exploring my more "feminine" interests, like makeup and fashion, i already know my dad will think im cis.. keep in mind hes super controling, stole all my binders, wont let me cut my hair to a certain length and yelled at my sib for accidently cutting it too short, wont let me dress too masc, annnd ect. I even wrote a very indepth letter, explain my transness as bare bones as possible and addressing concerns hes brought up before... he ignored it.. i know he at least saw it because when i came back to see if he saw it (placed it on his desk) it was gone.. hes never even hinted to reading it.. anyways, now that im getting into waxing my eyebrows and makeup, its no question of if he'll think im finally getting out of my "trans phase" 😷 and that will only cause more strain on our relationship, and him thinking of me as girl identifying is disgusting by itself.. anyways this video was really nice to listen to while typing this out, love your content man, also i love your earings 💕
I'm so sorry, remember this part of your life is temporary and you will be able to escape. And remember, bio family is a starting point. If it doesnt work, disown your dad. He can be anywhere from a sperm donor to a dad to you and that's your choice. Find your own family, you can get through this♡

Invest in hair scissors and a comb.
Cut your hair wet and in thin strips.
Hold the scissors with the third finger, not the index finger going thru the hole.

Agreed!I remember telling my friend that I was transmasculine aligned and they were like “oh well I thought you said you were non-binary” like the entire point of non-binary is that you don’t fit into a box so it’s kind of weird that you would put a non-binary person back into the binary. Without getting too deep into it like I’m just myself before anything else.But yeah I think being aligned with make it female while being nonbinary needs to be talked about BC. Some people really only look into their own orientation and don’t care about other LGBT people and it really shows

I like how your hair turned out! If you ever want to make it choppier without losing too much length, you can get cheap thinning/texturizing shears that’ll give texture without losing all your length! I used to use them all the time on my hair but just rip open my knuckles with point cutting 😂

i found your channel because of your video about Kalvin, and i just want to say im glad i did. i started watching Kalvin's videos back when i was questioning my gender and trying to accept myself as trans, and since he was one of the first trans youtubers i found, i looked up to him and saw him as sort of a comfort while i was trying to accept myself. but in the long run he really impacted the way i felt about being trans and how i saw other trans people. i realized that i was scared to accept my own identity as a nonbinary trans guy because i was under the impression that you cant be nonbinary and a guy. i used to use the argument that 'oh the transtrenders are the reason transphobia exists' and i realize now that that's a very shitty thing to believe. im still trying to unlearn the things i heard from Kalvin and im learning to accept more trans identities. ive actually been watching a lot of your older videos about trans and nonbinary topics as a way to learn more. im still trying to accept myself as valid within the trans and nonbinary community, and your videos help with that a lot.

i feel like digital self h*rm goes under the radar far, faaar too often. and abrasive people like K*vlin who thrive off of drama and hatred seem to perpetuate it. its insanely toxic, and as a community, i feel like we should be talking about it more. we've digitally self hrmed for years and years (mostly without even knowing what we were doing), and only really realized that it was self hrm around 2 years ago. we've been living for 25 years now, and it started when we were 11, so its been far too long. and it sucks that the reason why it happened for so long was because no one was talking about it.
im not sure if we count as a 'senior trans' at 25? but the thought of younger trans people going through what we did really hurts. if talking about it and really digging into what it is will help younger trans kids, then gd im willing to do that
