You sir are a saint! My rubber had totally worn off and I was scared to change it myself, but took the leap of faith with how well and easily you explained it and I followed your tutorial and my thumbsticks are good as new! THANK YOU!
Hey great vid. The narration helped me when I thought I was not going to be successful. Here's some tips: don't force anything. The wires for the battery need to be tucked for things to fit. If your sticks are sticking, you didn't push them down hard enough or need to twist them while they are seated. Mine was all done but sticks were sticking a little in some areas. I also used a tad alcohol, but i think twisting them (while it was fully reassembled) did the trick. They will probably get looser over some use. And I replaced with the sticks you linked (ps5)
thank you very much. i appreciate you showing every little detail. i was afraid i'd somehow mess something up but nope. you showed every single step and tips on how to handle/manage while you're replacing things. took me about 4 hours since i swapped a ps4 analog onto my ps5 controller but it was well worth it and overdue. now i dont have to buy ANOTHER new controller haha.. i can always just come back here.
Me too! Waste of money buying the replacements and have to throw out a working controller. The ribbon cables are just horrid. They are tiny and once disconnected do not go back in the same way!
So it seemed like insane I’ve never done anything like this but the instructions are so clear I decided to try it took me 45 mins and I was successful. Didn’t even have the little prying tool either. Just used my fingers carefully and with the ribbons I used my little Phillips for assistance. Huge thanks for making this video and doing such a great job.
Thank you so much! Was scared my lil brothers controller was a goner! First time doing it and your video was so calming, it was actually satisfying doing this side by side
Thank you soo much. My sons thumb sick came out..and I followed your video and it's now fixed and working. Normally I Would of binned it. Thank you for helping me save money.
Thanks for the video, the rubber on my left analogue stick came off but i didnt want to throw it away since the rest of the controller worked perfectly fine.
ok while you did say it doesnt fix stick drift I knew the stick module just needed cleaning and the drift went away however puting the stick back on did require this tutorial I appreciate it bro honestly alot simpilar then it looks im more surprised at how easy it was to remove the ribbens and put them back in
I did say this is stupid, but I will say you did a great job explaining in detail what to do but that’s a lot of work. I can see myself yanking on something too hard or my two boys under the age of 10 helping out and we’re losing stuff. Where did that screw go? I don’t know daddy …
well, just tore a ribbon cable while removing it so i guess thats the end of my controller edit: ordered a replacement ribbon, pretty inexpensive update: got my replacement ribbon cable and my controller (and thumbstick) is all fixed! yaaaay word of advice: you gotta be reaaaaally careful when handling the ribbon cables, they tear super easily
Great video. Unfortunately, I just ripped a ribbon in half. It is an Aim controller with more ribbons than this one. Hopefully I can get just the Ribbons. If not I have a $260 paper weight. Be careful with those ribbons guys!
My problem is the rubber covers on the stick slipped off. And when I slip it back on it doesn't feel like it's fully on as there's an air bubble. As a result, the rubber cover slides off again. Would you suggest simply gluing it on rather than replacing the stick?
@@thecollegepickerhello Ive a question I hope you answer. I bought a custom controller from HYPR with clicks air triggers. I don’t like them I prefer the regular standard click. Is there a way for me to change it to a regular full pull one? I would really like to know
Hello, I know this comment is out of context but I've seen some of your videos and you look so experienced on brother label printers. I've recently bought a brother ql-810w that came without power supply, and as I haven't found any PA-AD-001A or any power supply with its characteristics I thought you would have some idea of a good power supply for It, thank you for your videos and I hope you can help me
When mounting everything againt the sticks don't return to neutral position :(. This happens only when mount the back plate again, when is off they work smooth so I think there is something blocking them.
Guys if you are playing Gun game.make sure your analog engine is yellow. If you ask why, the other blue green ones have a lot of resistance and they are very hard compared to yellow, making it difficult for you to aim.
I did the instructions and the controller works fine, but I accidentally broke of the white piece that connect the lower mic to the mother board and ribbon cable. The mic still works, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to put it back together.
Im hoping someone might be able to help me: my thumb sticks aren't drifting thier just "weak" they dont snap back like a fresh controller does its kind of annoying. Anyone know what i can do?
Well this sucks so much chance to to break controller... I noticed a tiny jerk on my right joystick and saw a hair sticking out and removed it.... Still jerking so a piece of hair must be broken inside... This is way too many things you need to do to get under the damn joystick....
When I see how you doing it my Stanley knife is opening in my pocket by himself 😅 PL pls do not do that how he is doing it you gonna busted your controller 😅
Instructions are easy to follow. I managed to replace my thumbstick in no time. Thanks!
You're welcome!
Same here! Thank you!

Loved your instructions. You absolutely covered everything for my replacement. Thanks for all the necessary details.
threw my controller in the trash and bought another after watching this vid
😂😂😂
My thought exactly lmao - this is way too much work. Saving up for a DualSense Edge instead
Bought some analog sticks to replace to try this, broke a ribbon cable and now threw the controller out. They made it this way on purpose
Me too! Waste of money buying the replacements and have to throw out a working controller. The ribbon cables are just horrid. They are tiny and once disconnected do not go back in the same way!
What are you people on about it took me 4 minutes to do it, what happened to the men that could fix things hey 🫣
So it seemed like insane I’ve never done anything like this but the instructions are so clear I decided to try it took me 45 mins and I was successful. Didn’t even have the little prying tool either. Much appreciated my boy has eaten all three of mine so this is much need help thankyou 🙏
My controller got smashed under the couch and my thumb stick was off track. This helped me not have to buy a new controller. Thanks.
Another perfectly made video making gaming life easier! Pro content creator ; ) Thank you
Appreciate it 🤝
Great! To be honest I was afraid to follow these steps, it seems hard to do… but you helped me to save my dual sense 🙏🏻
Thanks. Took an hour with my first controller and took 30 mins with the second one. 😊

Thanks for the video. I was able to follow it to fix my controller. Turns out my dogs thought they were dog treats, so they needed replacing.
Thank you for saving my ps5 controller 😊 keep your good work mate
So good just replaced damaged left stick watching the video. Keep up the great work mate
Good job bro 👍 🤝
It was turning around right?
Thanks to this video, I can successfully replace parts
Very helpful, thanks!
Very good, I followed your steps and it worked well. Thanks a lot, great video.
Fantastic video. Absolute noob when it comes to repairing electronics. But this video really made it easy
Amazing instructions. I’m not mechanically inclined and was able to solve very easily.
Happy to help 🤝

Thanks for letting me know in more details 🙏
Thanks! I replaced my worn out thumbstick with this tutorial. It looks harder than it really is!
Worked out well for me. Thanks dude
Just done mine pretty easy. Just take your time be little careful.
well, just tore a ribbon cable while removing it so i guess thats the end of my controller
edit: ordered a replacement ribbon, pretty inexpensive
update: got my replacement ribbon cable and my controller (and thumbstick) is all fixed! yaaaay
word of advice: you gotta be reaaaaally careful when handling the ribbon cables, they tear super easily
great instructions - thanks!
Thank you, I was able to change off the Thumbgrip easily!
Good work doc 🤝

Thanks! Fixed the ghost movements! Can't shoot well. 😂
Good work!
Ah, this was a great video! Thanks for the step by step in such detail!
Great explanation! Tks
Thanks!
Thanks, great step by step video:)
Thank you! Raged at a game and the joystick was stiff going to the bottom left. Probably won’t be the last time I’m here.
Agreed. Should’ve made them easy to replace without disassembling the controller.
I cannot believe Sony made it so hard to fix something that breaks so easily.
Great video. Unfortunately, I just ripped a ribbon in half. It is an Aim controller with more ribbons than this one. Hopefully I can get just the Ribbons. If not I have a $260 paper weight. Be careful with those ribbons guys!
Thank you for this, literally saved me 70 dollars
You are welcome
Very Info. Thank you 😊
yeah, I'm going to the shop... but great video btw...

Thank you it's work 🎉😂
Great video thanks.
Very good tutorial, a monkey like me managed to follow with a pocket knife and tweezers.
Good work monkey 🤝
Great tutorial 👍
very helpfull
Have you thought about being a mens Hand model, you have great hands.
Appreciate it 👐

Bro actually thank you
You are welcome 🤗
Great video, but PlayStation need to develop an easier way to replace the rubber on PS5 controllers
U can change them without any disassembly. Theres a video on yt.
Thank you so much!!! Worked perfectly!!
You are welcome
When mounting everything againt the sticks don't return to neutral position :(. This happens only when mount the back plate again, when is off they work smooth so I think there is something blocking them.
I followed this tutorial and now my X O square and triangle buttons don’t work. Any idea what could have happened?

Are tou able to remove the joystick "cube", im trying to see if i can fix my drift
My L1 button is being so difficult to put back in. R1 went in easy as can be but L1 will not go in right
I did the instructions and the controller works fine, but I accidentally broke of the white piece that connect the lower mic to the mother board and ribbon cable. The mic still works, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to put it back together.
what if just the rubber bit has a tear? can it be replaced easier?
Tear off the old rubber get a new one and stick it down with a drop of superglue but would have to be very careful as superglue spreads when it dries.
damn….just to replace two thumb grips 😅
I put it all back together and now it won't turn on. I made sure all of the ribbon cables are snug but still nothing, any tips?
🔥🔥🔥
🙏🙏🙏
Im hoping someone might be able to help me: my thumb sticks aren't drifting thier just "weak" they dont snap back like a fresh controller does its kind of annoying. Anyone know what i can do?
This procedure does not work for newer versions of the controller. Pretty sure it cost me a brand new controller
We will have to get our hands on the new version and make a video 🤝 merry Christmas
Yeah, I'm just gonna buy a new one.👀
Yeah. Me too. This is way too much.
Well this sucks so much chance to to break controller... I noticed a tiny jerk on my right joystick and saw a hair sticking out and removed it.... Still jerking so a piece of hair must be broken inside... This is way too many things you need to do to get under the damn joystick....
Damn I was thinking this fix drift
I can't get my ribbons out
why is this so involved. my bird destroyed my thumb sticks while i wasn’t looking for 2 mins… ill just order some protector rubbers online
It took less then 30 seconds for my dog to consume all the rubber on my ps5 joysticks💀
😩 bad dog!
the dualsense replacement sticks from amazon looks really bad form the pictures
Nice #notificationsquad #canwefixit #quitthrowingcontrollers
Chew toys 😂
instruction unclear. burnt down my pet volcano
But the dog was playing on the PC, so it cant be rhe dog.
Lol
Pro tip buy a new control the rage isn’t worth it
Man how in the f*** you can damage so bad a thumbstick??.
When I see how you doing it my Stanley knife is opening in my pocket by himself 😅 PL pls do not do that how he is doing it you gonna busted your controller 😅
w w w
thank you
The scufs for the 5 are ass and the default controller is way more of a pain in the ass to take apart yeah I’m going pack to ps4 Scuf 🤣
I'll just buy a new controller.
Millionaire lifestyle
Man it's not even that, I don't want to screw my controller up getting in there. @@thecollegepicker
But its already broken and screwed up
Easy job but I have to admit xbox controller much easier to do
Great way to break your controller this. Just buy a new one.
Awful design.
This is so stupid
Wym?
Nah not doing that lol
Thank you so much
Thanks so much
