#UKGrime #UKMusic #AmericanReactions
Class of Deja refers to the underground pirate radio Deja Vu FM they all started with, it was their own thing because no one wanted to touch grime.
The MBE is an award to make you a knight of the order of the british empire. So he declined it, staying true to his political opposition to colonialism, then went home to nigeria i think ? and accepted to become a chief.
@@huguesjosserand He was made a chief in Nigeria, you're correct.
This channel is slept on, better editing & education of the UK scene than any other American reactor out there… deserves more love
I appreciate you so much thank you!
Man, I’ve been spinning this song since it’s dropped, and I swear it just keeps getting better. I really love the empowerment vibe, Ghetts has been on that energy BIG lately. Always, but more so lately. These two, I feel, are the guys to watch, and to study, and to admire, no matter your skin tone. Real deal Kings on this one as far as I’m concerned.
Big facts. The thoughtfulness put into this one is top tier.
you know your UK culture. respect bro, another like from me
100% agree with your bit about Ghetts. When I discover “new to me” artists, I like to listen to their stuff in order of release, so I can experience the evolution and growth in a. Sort of compressed time period. I liked Ghetts from jump, but he was overshadowed for me by others like Skepta and Kano, but what he’s been doing this year, and the way he seems to be going, he’s climbing reeeeeeal quick in my personal rankings.
FFFFACCCCTSS. I'm still team P Money though lolol. But Ghetts is on another level fr
@@KRXOVRmedia I like P Money a lot but I haven’t listened to him enough yet. Mostly only on collabs where he’s one of 4-5 or so people on a track.
You're in for a TREAT.
Thanks been waiting for this. Been asking for reactors to react to this.
Right?! I don’t get why this isn’t on everyone’s to-do list
Credit to "smalleylad"
That last Skepta verse “go on then, go on then draw for the ‘chette” are old old school Skepta bars. We grew up on Skepta spitting those bars at freestyles, to hear them a this track is a moment.
Edit:
The earliest example of that "chete" verse i can find is at 30:40. I've started it at 29:10 as this is when he starts clashing against Manga ---> ruclips.net/video/CmKeSFbmpms/видео.html
Importance:
In the outro you can hear "clashing bars". In my opinion it feels to me that skepta and GH are trying to bring back that core essence of grime. Over the years the classic grime sound has changed especially with influences such as trap/drill. Of course there are producer's still making classic grime sounding tunes today however the essence of grime wasn't just the beat, it was the lyrics and the flow also. I think both these two legends are hitting that "reset" button and although the sound and beats have evolved they are trying to bring back those classic flows. Hence the revival of the above 8 bar
Also: here is the set from skepta, ghetts & kano where the last visual is from
ruclips.net/video/5ANg5ZHKx1A/видео.html ( "God forgive me if i buss my 9, bust 1 bust 2 bust 3 bar is at 22:20)
I'm not sure it's about "reseting" the scene, certainly I agree they have to teach the youngers just what they are going against, but I can't help but think back to the "crabs in a barrel" bar in ghetts mad about bars. With BLM and all that, the IC3 song is an empowerment song. A war cry, addressed to black youth, to say look at us, we did this, this anger you feel, if you channel it (alchemy, pressure and diamonds) you can take power and 'light up the place like Akon'. It's like, stay true, stick to your principle, stick to your righteous anger and go see where it takes you.
@@huguesjosserand Yeah i agree with that part, in that context though it would seem then that they are trying to encourage the youth into the path they followed. Perhaps trying to steer away from drill and instead bringing back the lyrical clashing where the competition was the best bars and not a postcode. I am not sure the they associate with BLM in the sense that other artists are. In the bar "How can i talk about killing my opps and in the same breath say BLM" & " Just because i ain't been vocal, don't mean i am keeping a secret". And in dave's bars "Say the wrong thing and everyone wants to hangman" and most recently in the Utopia he speaks about being cancelled for speaking out. I think we can both agree though that this is best music that ghetts has released yet and should bring that competition back into grime that has lacked the past few years due to the trend of drill. In a side note, the fact stormzy has not replied to chip yet shows where this scene is currently at.
Sir, you’re editing for catching references are top tier!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!! I do my best
So just a couple of things to keep you in the loop with the references and the meaning behind them as well as the significance.
Deja is short for Deja Vu FM, which was one of two major radio stations in England that birthed and pioneer the scene of Grime back in 2001/2002. The other radio station was Rinse FM, where arguably the latter was the the first and had the biggest platform.
MBE stands for Member of the order of the British Empire (as opposed to Commander or Officer).
Like a CBE or an OBE, an MBE is an order of the British Empire award. It is the third highest ranking Order of the British Empire award, behind CBE which is first and then OBE.
Then after all of that, you can be knighted, for one would be called Sir/Dame.
Anyone can be nominated to receive an MBE so long as they meet the necessary Queen's honour criteria. An MBE award can be given for all types of different achievement, but it is often given in recognition of community achievements or for a local "hands-on" service that has set an example to others.
Thank you for sharing this info!
@@KRXOVRmedia no problem. I have my part playing in the history of grime, from the beat production side of things and DJing on Rinse FM. So I can vouch for any references...
If you have any questions you need clearing up before doing your Grime Artist reviews. Please do message me. And I'll will help...
The way you think about thinks in such depth and the way you think outside of the box is very impressive and you should be proud of that G
Thank youuuu
Ghetto Gospel mixtape was fire ‘07 when I got that. Ghetts has been atop tier UK lyricist from early. Hes was the leader of a group called The Movement with Wretch 32, Scorcher, Mercston and later Devlin.
Great reaction video to UK music.
Cool reaction,👆👍☝️❤️❤️❤️
Clavish - Daily Duppy just dropped🥶
1. Deja Vu and fuck radio sets as well.
Wiley, Dizzee (before he became pop and WILEY invested his time in grime and made it bigger), lethal b, Kano, ghetts, skepta, d double e, griminal, chip, p money, Scorcher, devlin, dot rotten, devlin. All these guys were on these sets.
2 IC3 is like a police code or something regarding for identifying suspects.
3. This is a big collabC ghetts and Skepta used to clash a lot in clubs and radio sets
Yeah, class of deja refers to Deja Vu fm which was on the roof. The OGs now used to go there 2001-05. Many Grime collectives used to have slot times where they would go and spit bars. Some crews would even clash to see who was better than who. When you get a moment, look up “grime deja vu” on RUclips and have a look
Skepats part at the end is from the devil man clash from years agooo one of grimes best clashes broooo
Keep up the grind absolute killing it
Coming from England Birmingham
how do you not have at least 100k you putting in work with the references
100k soon come! It hasn't been a year yet, so I'm grateful for the growth that I have seen so far.
Mannnnn really wish you listened to all of Sk’s full verse at the end without stopping on your first listen!!! Haha good reaction g much love
I listened to it. I just didn't include it in the final cut so that I can keep the time down a bit to focus on this song specifically.
@@KRXOVRmedia Good Lad! Big respect !!
Here we go!!!!! 🙏🏽💪🏽 Thanks for this one man!
Been waiting man yessssssir shout out from Leeds, UK
Great reaction, much respect man keep doing it!
Крутой трек!
Yes, yes you are the best 🤝🏆
Been watching your reactions for a while, just subscribed, going places my man, always good content, always catching the bars. 🙌🏿🙌
Thank you so much!
DEJA VU FM was a priate radio station back in the day in East London that MC's like D Double E, Kano, Ghetts, Skepta, Wiley, Dizzee Rascal and a load more came up on that was broadcast from an antenna on the rooftop of a council flat complex in Newham and ran out of a flat directly below it, but the MC's would often spit from the rooftop if the weather was good.
Something else I’ve noticed between Ghetts’s MAB, Mozambique, and this time, he seems to be sliding those sort of choked on, clicky, poppy sounds in his delivery. I don’t know if that’s an intentional sort of ode to African languages like Xhosa that use those sounds a lot, or if it’s just a stylistic choice and the link is coincidental, but I really dig it. I really hope it’s an intentional link, and I’m inclined to believe it is, and I hope there’s more of it on the upcoming project.
Xhosa was the language the girl on his tune Mozambique was speaking too.
@@dominadors4795 oh I know, that’s another reason I’m inclined to assume that’s the intentional route he’s going.
@@dominadors4795 thank you though 💯👌🏼
Very very good observation. I'm excited to see the direction he's going too.
snap capone - wanted you gotta react to this bro i guarantee you wont be dissapointed! Keep up the work rate you got this
Alkemist Reactions all day!
Feels meeeeeee!!!!!!!
Love this! React to Avelino ft Dave - Cassius Clay, lyric heavy 🔥
Heard it already
Jean Michel Basquiat imagery with the Crowns
He's always had his grit. However if you actually listen to him, he's not really offensive or nasty, he's more honest. I like that.
You have to do class of deja live. You'd love it
Heard it already. I love it
Tbf grime did have violence in it. Skepta and giggs did have a lot of violence in their songs. Some grime artists did have a lot of violence some only had some
True bro but Giggs isn’t a grime artist lol
@@jamaalokolfex4072 yh giggs is not a grime artist facts but has made
grime music
Clavish - Daily Duppy
Just realised Ghetts put in a subtle double entendre at the start. “What do you know about pressing semi” referring to shooting a semi-automatic and “pressing semi” could also mean having sex with semi-erect ting🙂
Probably overthinking it
I think for this particular video, that would be a really out of place reference tbh
You gotta do Active Gang (Sus X TScam) - The Hotspot.
Kojey Radical - Progression 1 freestyle
Yo dr. Checkout locksmith and king los, ridicilous music, too good. And ocean wisdom with dizzee rascall and shit. Greetings
This beat reminds me of his 'Bullet From A Gun'.

Ghetts is king ! check out “Wiley vs Kano” Lord Of The Mics
PS-Bruce Willis 🙏🙏
"I'm a serial cheat, I got too many ex's,
Ya'll know how long I've been dumping"
When you dump somebody, you're separating from your partner. Then dumping as in releasing a whole clip, firing off lyrics. Ghetts is saying this good for a long time
also when you say they're grown but rude, they basically come off like the OGs and OGs are respected here in the streets when it comes to gang culture cos they bring the YGs in, like refined violence only when needed when YGs are just more wreckless with it... so i just apply that logic to the music, i guess it works the same way
It makes sense when you look at it that way.
You should react to send em by Sydney youngins
Sick reaction. React to Tiny Boost - Murder on the beat
Hey man can you react to k koke fire in the booth
React to Bis - Streets🔥 a harlem ledgend that passed away 10 months ago

How u get ur hair like that
It's called a "Twist Out"
Bro why haven't you done jordan fitb
I had a lot going on around the time when it came out. It's a 16 minute video which means it's gonna end up being a 30+ minute reaction. I just don't have time.
@@KRXOVRmedia it would awesome if you got to round to reacting to it at some point.
I know it’s long and a long of work and effort, but it couldn’t definitely pay off. But also it’s just such a gem of a FITB if not the best one (to me) it should be done.
The fact that people still ask for me, I'm going to try my best to make it a priority
@@KRXOVRmedia that would be sick, and greatly appreciated! The work rate doesn’t go unnoticed haha.👏🏽
The rooftop ain't just a grime set it's where it really all kicked off.
Diz vs titch
Wiley vs lethal
Are just a few clashes you can see on the rooftop pirate radio days...
You need to get on the fuck radio sets
