This is exactly what I needed. Nobody is reviewing the base models nowadays.
Base models are pointless
@@FlatWHDF really! I don't think the pro models are good value for money either. They charge 15k just for 128 gb of more storage. Besides, not everyone likes big screen machines in their pockets.
@@rajkumar_ogyet every year , every phone release from any company, the Pro / Max versions outsell the base models by a good margin
@@MrQuay03 Not here in India & rightly so.
Totally agree, they go right to the pro model
I like pixel phones but Google was wrong to bump the price up. The previous price point gave them an advantage for someone who was deciding between Google and Samsung.
I actually agree. $699 was better imo. But I guess they want to be in that category.
Just wait a month. They'll be on sale like always
Google are heads of apple in ai from what I can tell and with the custom chip coming out next year which is apparently going to be like Apples very powerful. I think they’re trying to categorise themselves as a premium brand like iPhone now.
@@jasonevans8914 But if most of the same AI features will be on the Galaxy phones then most people will go for the Samsung since they are more popular to most consumers
@@CallMeKJOSthe s24 is a piece of f****** garbage. the display is horrible. do a review on the Samsung s24 Ultra. Samsung s24 Ultra versus Google pixle 9 XL.
Always good to see that there is a tech reviewer that considers compact flagships.
Next will be to compare the Pixel 9 with the iPhone 15.
The compact flagship from google isn't the 9 though, but the 9 pro. This is just the base "cheap" model
Thank you so much for reviewing the base Pixel 9. Nobody else is doing this. I got my Pixel 9 on the release date and so far am absolutely loving it. Didn't know how I would feal about the more boxy design but I have gotten used to it. Also the speakers are something nobody is talking about, which is a shame because I think they are very nice.
Yes, the speakers on the Pixel 9 Pro are fantastic too! Way better than my S21's. Unfortunately, there's no EQ settings on the Pixels. Funny thing, my S21 scrolls much smoother than the Pixel on apps like Reddit, FB, etc. That really surprised me. But the upcoming Android 15 update is supposed to improve that, we'll see. One huge benefit to the Samsungs is they're much lighter and less bulky. I always use cases, so having a light phone is important to me since a solid case adds weight/heft. I came to this video because I'm considering returning the Pixel Pro and getting an S24. I think I'm going to download the beta of 15 and see if that improves the performance a bit.
And. If a phone is uncomfortable. Any phone. Fit a case.
It protects and makes the phone last/ look better/ longer.
i don't like cases. they make the phone bigger.specially width wise. i'm in the minority though. i'm also the type of person who never drops my phone. and i mean never. I also became less concerned about it ever since the iphone 13 pro release which was a really strong phone and since then, I'm not concerned about any iphone breaking from a drop. I am concerned about the front screen scratching and the iphone 15 pro scratches wayyy too easily. That's something I don't like about the 15 pro.
Or just don't buy that one :)
The straight side rails are still unpleasant to hold even with a case IMO.
Not enough people talking about how uncomfortable the s24 is. @@iulian2548
@@iulian2548🤦🏽♂️
If I was looking for the best compact phone, the s24 probably would be my pick .
I like everything about the Pixel 9 better but the lack of telephoto lens is a dealbreaker for me
I'm planning to trade in my S24 and pre-order the Pixel 9 Pro. It's a pricey phone, but I can get £330 for my S24 and a £200 pre-order bonus. I'm looking forward to the clean software experience of the Pixel 9 Pro and not having to deal with Samsung's UI bloatware.
I switched to the Pixel 9 Pro XL last week and it is stuttering when I scroll. RUclips app has been stuttering too when watching videos at 1.5x playback speed. Even as I type this comment, I can see the phone stuttering. I'm switching to the S24+ tomorrow.
That tensor G4 will probably struggle a few years down the road, but if you change phones all the time, that is not a concern.
Samsung has pulled a Google and used the Same cameras since the s22 series. Lame 😑
The Pixel 9 is using the same cameras of the 8
if the s25 is a significant improvement then the price will be alot higher than the change in price from pixel 8 to pixel 9
@@minecrafttorch2127 The Google pixel 8 did not have a 48 megapixel ultrawide camera
S24+ & Pixel 7 owner, long story how I ended up with both😂
Have been contemplating the Pixel 9, but my Pixel 7 is going great as a secondary device. May upgrade if sales happen.
Great review and comparison.😊
Which OS do you prefer overall ?
@@abdul-jaleeldieng2660 Truthfully, Samsung. I can customize until I'm content. Great Samsung apps and enjoy the ecosystem with my Tab S9, and Galaxy Book
I upgraded from the pixel 7 pro and do not regret it. It's like using android on an iPhone. Really good!
Hey man, I recently stumbled upon your channel. I just want to say that the quality of your videos is fantastic. Keep up the good work!
Crazy they bumped the price up at the same time of the year when the Galaxy phones would be coming down and when new iPhones are about to drop.
The S24 is very comfortable. The edges are not sharp at all, and the light 168-gram weight makes it easy to handle.
I chose it because it's the lightest flagship with a telephoto lens.
exactly! very biased review here. edges on s23 were sharp but not here. also so light! even lighter than zenfone 10.
I’m switching from iPhone soon and these are the two I have been debating between
Why switch ?

The claim that the Pixel 9 series is better than the iPhone or Samsung is misleading. As long as the Pixel relies on the rebranded Samsung Exynos chip, marketed as the Tensor, its performance will remain at mid-range or even budget levels. No matter how good the hardware is, it won’t make a difference with a subpar processor.
The processor in the Pixel 9 is more than adequate. Sure it doesn't benchmark as high as the Snapdragon but real-world use is quick, snappy and efficient.
Im using iPhone 14, in my iPhone 14 if I play an game for 1 hr it will drop 15-25% in base settings , if I do an video call for 1 hr it burns so much
I’ve used Samsung before , in Samsung if I play an game for 1 hr battery will drop more than iPhone and heat up more
How is it a rebranded exynos processor? It have the same cores as any other chip out here that powers most android phones, just different core layouts. Just because samsung fabbed the chip doesn't mean it's a rebranded chip. Samsung use to fab apples chips as well but nobody claimed it was exynos so stop it with the "rebranded " crap all because google chose to use samsungs ip to build a chip of their own. Different gpu, custom built tpu, titan m security chip and also their own isp nothing says "rebranded" exynos go do your homework and stop listening to tech reviewers who have no expertise in building socs
Watching on my s23 with no regret 😅
Battery back up ?
I hope that instead of a Pixel 9a that they offer us a Pixelbook 2 for the love of the sky
Having handled both phones in store I would take the Pixel 9 without doubt. Much better cameras, brighter screen, bigger screen (not too big , not too small) , great build quality and better software. I use an s21fe and it gets the job done but there are aspects to Samsung software that are infuriating on a daily basis. Seriously considering upgrading.
Yeah I swore off Samsung after one phone, weird software they add on top of Android.
Don’t go for iPhone , I thought iPhone 14 was better than my s21 fe so I bought it , then 1 hr game in base settings took 20-30% , 30 mins video call on google meet made this heat up more than the Samsung
I just purchased the Pixel 9 online today. So excited can't wait for it to come in the mail.
Thank you for the comparison between the small phones. I've ordered the Pixel 9 pro and still waiting for the shipping, and my wife has the Galaxy S24. I'm curious how they compare day to day.
Galaxy = hardware
Pixel = software
I would definitely take the s24.
Please compare cellular network connectivity and net speed.
Agreed!
Because this is a phone, not a camera
@@ivakinmnbg3710more like a pocket sized computer.
I'm so happy someone finally made a review on the smaller models
I honestly don't understand why they always do matt and then glossy design, why not everything matt, they know that most customers want something like that because of fingerprints

4:10 dude is fast to point out that face unlock has an edge for the pixel but cannot tell the Samsung device has a better in-display sensor?...
I don't like it when RUclipsrs have an inclination to a device but try to hide it and pose as neutral meanwhile such inclinations can be seen and felt in the reviews
Dude is a pixel guy no doubt about that so just take his takes in tandem with your own interests...
Going to give you a well deserved 'like' for realizing that not everyone cares just about the Ultra and Pros. Some of us prefer a more compact option. Well done.
KJ, it's amazing how your videos have improved over time. Best of luck in growing the channel. I just subscribed 👍🏻
Appreciate the comment 🙏🏿
Great video! Good to see a channel that does videos on the smaller base models. It's crazy some only do the Pro XL or s24 Ultra and not everyone can spend $1100 or more on a phone. Me personally i prefer the Pixel 9 for the design and smooth stock android performance. Never been a fan of the heavy Samsung skin.
I loved this comparrison, not taking the Containerships of the flagships, but actually doing the smaller ones ;) thanks :)
Exactly! It's no problem
I would prefer S24 display in terms of brightness because if you are not going with nits the S24 is brighter in daily use than the Google
I've picked up the Pixel 8 recently, and it took me 30s to return it due to a massive shift in colour on angle. Pixel 9?
I already knew the Pixel 9 benchmarks are unacceptable but I got my hands on both s24 ultra and pixel 9 pro today in store. Both were on t mobile 5 g with no WiFi. The pixel was like 130 down and 3 up. Samsung was almost 400 down and over 100 up. I downloaded t care how much ai it has. There is no way they can justify the hardware and network numbers they are putting out.
S24 is best value by far
Big point about the sharp edges! Didn't think about that!!😮
When am looking for base phone reviews
KJ is the man appreciate you bro
I expected just one take, the comparsion (in hands) of their sizes :( but anyways, nice video! We need more options of small phones
Glad to have gone with the Galaxy S24, upgrading from a Galaxy S10+ and a broken Google Pixel 6!
Efficiency and reliability as well as customizability are my deciding factors!
If my S10+ has lasted me 5 years and has gone over a year past its last security update (and it still works up to today and charges well), then for sure my S24 will last me 7 years!
What turned me against the s24 is the fact that it starts to look like an iPhone with sharp edges
Good comparison brotha, thank you
I would have to say the s24 as I don't notic it due to the weight and size. I also love Android because of customization however it's very difficult to customize the pixel ironically do to the locked home screen layout. In the had the pixel is great and I love the screen and the speakers, so it's a hard choice that's for sure.
Thanks! I prefer smaller phones and no ones covering them
First time here and already subscribed, keep it up.
It’s a pain to do it….but moving to Android from iOS, I purchased a Pixel and a refurbished Samsung…same phones you tried. It took me only a few days to send back the Samsung. I hate the way they build on top of Google apps. The weight was WAY too heavy for a phone too. I agree with that! It was painful to return phone and case to Samsung. And the protective glass was wasted $30 USD. But, I now KNOW which phone is the best for me! Your videos are well done. Thanks for all the efforts. Good luck.
A refurbished samsung, that speaks alot. And FYI samsung apps works better than Google apps except for messages.
And I have the quite old One plus 8 pro. It's Great.
im torn between these 2 phones. atleast here in finland you can get the base s24 for 719 usd, but the the pixel 9 costs almost 1052 usd...
Yo display on the Galaxy S24 series this year is untouchable. The anti reflective coating doesn't get the respect it deserves. Guys put any high end phone display released this year next to the S24 outside and it will eat them for breakfast, launch and dinner lol. The difference is very very noticeable, atleast I the 15PM and S24U so I know for sure
Only the ultra got that anti reflective coating
@@jtec99 Oooh I thought they all have the same display as the S24U since it wasn't mentioned that its only the S24U the uses the Anti reflective glass. Sorry to the regular S24 users 😂
@@icentuche90 yeah I've got the S24 plus. Disappointing to not have that ultra glass. Maybe they'll put itt in all the S25 series though
@@jtec99 That will be better

It's funny that anyone can say the pixel is better the chip shit Samsung s23 ultra is even better than the pixel 9 pro xl so it don't stand a chance up against the s24 ultra like it's a good phone but it's never going to be as good a Samsung and apple
Team Pixel (I'm watching this from the Pixel 8 pro)
Team Galaxy (I'm watching this from the S21+)
Me too
Watching on my 7pro 🩷
I've been enjoying using the Pixel 9 since I got it. Great video as always👍🏾. Hopefully we see a Pixel 9 Vs iPhone 15 video soon
Every time I see this standard Pixel 9, I can't get it out of my head that it's just a Pixel 8 Pro in a new chassis and a compact size, but mostly without the 5X zoom sensor and without the Pro Camera 📸 features 🤔
And as much as I can't justify the iPhone 15 with its 60 hertz screen in 2024, I can't justify this Pixel 9 at its price with its processor at the level of processors dating back 3 years (8 Gen 1 / 8+ Gen 1 / A14) .
And for me, S23 / S23 Plus are currently a much better deals than both smartphones I mentioned above.
🙏🏽
I think Google should sell an AI and a non AI Pixel separately. I would buy the non AI one for less money.
The glossy finish on the Pixel 9 is an advantage in my book; I have bought and returned the S24 because the matt finish on the glass back made it ridiculously slippery in my hand (I don't like to use cases on my phones). I can live with the more visible fingerprints on a glossy finish, which is better than having the phone fly out off my hand which I felt was going to happen every time I took the S24 out of my pocket. Every phone I've owned has had a glossy finish and I'm sticking with that going forward, so despite the fact prefer the S24 (mainly because of the zoom lens), I'd pick he Pixel 9 just because it has that glossy finish.
Amazing reviews. Hope to have one of these one day. About the Google Pixel 9,it looks like an iPhone tho but it's cool. Companies are stepping up their game
Watching this on my pixel 9 pro xl. Just got it yesterday from spectrum mobile for only $599 without a trade in
I will never trust Google again because Pixel 6 supposedly was going to have 5 years worth of updates and one of those casually ruined me the same month the 9 dropped. I bought the S24.
I USE TO have a Pixel 6 and I loved it, best phone I have ever had. I was sure I was going to buy a Pixel 9 or 10 or whatever after "I decided" I was done with the 6. But then an update came and my phone just died, bricked. I was not the only one, Google has done nothing for us users with this problem. Almost at the same time Pixel 9 was shown for the first time, what a coincidence. I was left in a very bad position economically because I really needed a phone to work and I don´t buy phones by the year. It was disappointing because it was a really good phone.
I have a pixel 6 pro and I'm also having some issues lately like in the camera app I can't zoom in and out, it just doesn't respond. Or sometimes the phone turns black for a minute or two and suddenly it works again. Not talking about the microwave it becomes in summer day conditions, it's unusable then! No phone is perfect and I love many things about the pixel but I'm also very very hesitating about buying another pixel....
Lately I've been drawn more towards buying an S24 as my next device over the pixel 9 series.....
great video bro
for me it's the pixel 9 I like the design and photos
your channel deserves more subs
I have a samsung s23 ultra and i'll say that I do love samsung products, but I don't like that I have to get the Ultra to get a spec'd out phone. Its too big and believe it or not it hurts my fingers after a while because of it's size. other then that though I can't imagine that the camera could be much better. Multi tasking is rediculously easy and the display on Samsung is the best on the market. Using the S Pen for selfies is extremely underrated too. Both my parents have iphones and the colors just don't pop like they do on my phone samsung. Really would like a high performing phone without it being so big though. I think if so many people didnt have such bad experiences with androids before, they would like them better then Iphones. They can do everything an Iphone can and more. So much smoother now too. I don't ever have anything buggy happening with my phone. I used to with instagram videos but thankfully that has ended though. Overall satisfied with the phone. Just not worth getting arthritis for it. lol
Google phones are stepping up. Thinking of trading my s24 for the pixel 9 pro XL
Overall, no one will buy a Pixel to take pictures and an S24 to take video. There is very little difference between them for any reviewer to give specifics on other than one is set up to run in the Google infrastructure only vs the other which lives in both the Samsung AND Google infrastructure. It all depends on price point really and Google did increase the price of the Pixel since Samsung did not realizing that Samsung did not sell enough S24 and Z series phones due to the inflated price they're asking and poor trade-in values. This means that Google Pixel sales will indeed suffer as well.
Samsung for me all day
When is the pixel buds pro 2 review coming?
I have been waiting for the pixel 9 pro for over a few months but it's way over priced. 516gb variant here in au is costing over $2000 whilst I am getting Samsung S24 (on offer) at just under $1400 for same variant
And..if I'm not mistaken. Don't Sony make Camera sensors etc for majority of phones? I'd love to be able to afford one myself.( The One, 6) I think it is.
The Pixel 9 is ~950$ in Europe, so I definitely will not waste my money by buying the other one.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro should be compared to the S24. They are the same price and have similar specs.
Hi I just got my pixel 9 just wondering does it have that 5g ultra band? I have that Visbile + and I went driving all over the city and it did not show up not once. did not even see it in the setting
S24 for me. Has the better LTPO display, telephoto lens and the faster 4.0 storage available on the 256gb version. The comparison should be with the pro version, not the base pixel 9.
Yeah way better man pixel are shit fall apart after 6 months
@@chrisdooner2824 It seems like they are getting better with the hardware tho. That's a must especially when you charge premium prices.

Point and shoot pictures of any Pixels are ALWAYS superior to Samsung and i have owned Samsung Notes, S6 to S22. Stock.Android is also better experience for me. Clean, simple and fast.
Google is becoming Apple and Samsung but without the quality and benefits.
I would take the s24 only because I have a lot of Samsung products other than the pixel fold. I like to keep at least one pixel phone in my rotation
And you know.
I Do not like the shape of the new 9 camera module. It's better integrated into the sides of the phone as on the 8.
Went from a Samsung to a Pixel... Pixel is a much cleaner of an experience.

Great video. I'm team pixel but I wish the price hadn't changed.
Google shouldn't have ditched the bay blue color.
That's true
I use the s23. Which is the s24 basically. They didn't upgrade anything. I use, both apple and android. Apple works more consistently with apps and basic functions. The Samsung has better camera but the iphone still takes better video.

Why would you compare a phone that's been out longer than a phone that just came out. By the way the pixel came out of the box on Android 14.🤔
Why shouldn't he? The S24 is Samsung's latest S series flagship.
