People are not realising how good a performance this was. VERY rare for someone 70+ to still have that timing and most of all that amount of power in his voice. And completely in tune. A lot of singers lose that 40 years prior.
I'm Serbian and a musician myself. James Brown should never be mentioned in a sentence with other singers because he was something very special as a singer

he died less than 2 months later and his body laid in a casket for 76 days. If that was not bad enough, Jacque Hollander filed a lawsuit against James and his estate for $106 Million claiming Brown raped her at gunpoint years before...wow kind of hard to RIP when attorneys are arguing over your estate and they won't lower you into the ground.

I saw Mr James Brown in late 70s. I have never seen any person move so quickly like smooth butter. A true God given talent 🙌 May He Rest un Eternal 🙏 Peace
The amazing thing about this is that regardless of what Mr. Brown was going through it was still a great performance. The band was super tight and musical. Mr Brown's singing was not off beat at all and his phrasing was in rhythm. The energy was still at a high and inspirational level as you can clearly see how the audience was positively responding to it. I thought it was a great performance and just goes to show why he was and allways will be one of the all time greats.
I HAVE BEEN TO 400 CONCERTS IN MY LIFE, ALL KINDS OF MUSIC, BUT MR. JAMES BROWN WAS THE MOST DYNAMIC ENTERTAINING PERSON THAT I EVER SAW, R.I.P. JAMES, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN, THE GODFATHER OF SOUL, COUSIN FIGEL
I know he has to be thinking of all the joy and memories he brought to people like me a 6 year old little girl in Flint Michigan in 1968 with that dynamic stage performance I still remember it 49 years later.

There's no one like James Brown. Never was before him and never will be after him. To MJ's credit, JB was his idol and he learned all his moves from him, which the kiddos today don't realize.. He was my idol also. I saw him almost every time he played in LA, including his last performance, at the Hollywood Bowl. He also high-fived me once, during one of his House of Blues Hollywood concert. I was literally at his feet. at eye level with his boots, watching this legend dance and tap his groove. Another time, at HOB, Bill Murray, Bruce Willis and Dan Aykroyd were all together, watching his performance and also getting down, on the VIP balcony.. 12 years already now, that Funk is in heaven!!!
Christian yes you are very right. I watched one interview few weeks ago that was done by Michael Jackson when he was 14 years old.He said James Brown was his mentor, and he likes his music and his dance steps... That was when I realised J Brown is a great mentor and a legend .
I was 14 in 1961. Got a chance to see him and the Motown Revue in Chicago at the Regal theater for only one dollar and 25c back in the SIXTIES. Then again in the 90s at Mystic Lake Casino for 45 dollars.
Edie 1947 Very cool, Edie. We had the "Shower of Stars" show come every summer. Supremes, Shirelles, Crystals, Barbara Lewis, etc, whole of Motown, all on one show for $3/ticket. Don't tell the young folks, they get mad!🙊 Ain't life grand?!
Gosh, I saw JB in Kansas City a month later, and it was quite apparent he wasn't well, but still trying to do his best. I remember thinking at one point that night it looked like he was physically really struggling just to make it through the song, nearly having to lean on the keyboard to catch his breath. Sure wished he would have admitted his ill health then and simply retired and taken a break before it broke him three mos later. I've seen nearly a dozen of his live shows since 1965...He was simply the greatest of all time.
I Loved JB and believe he gave his best until this last performance. One could see that he was not well and the band lacked its usual Funk. However JB will always be remembered for the soul soldier that he was. His music gave me countless hours of joy, hope, and pure Funk. May God Bless his soul and welcome JB into Heaven's Kingdom.
I saw him live at the Morris Civic auditorium in South Bend Ind. In 1966 or 67, I was 7years old. I saw him again as an adult at The Park West in Chicago around 1984. Amazing performances both times.
After 40 years of dreaming ... Finally my dream to see his live show was given ... watched his show at Java-Jazz Festival 2005 in Jakarta Indonesia ...

Wow, look at the smile on his face at the end while he's dancing. He was a complicated, deeply flawed and imperfect man but no one ever gave more of himself with passion, effort or intensity as James Brown did. His work ethic was from a different, harder time and few from this era could understand or keep up with him.

Hi edagdwg thanks U Tube for sharing this history with the world no other like this soul brother linda j ☮️❤️💯 I have to say God bless him Linda j ☮️❤️💯 I have to
At his age it’s amazing he still wanted to be here.. he still wanted to be young. He still wanted to be JAMES BROWN even at 73. If only we could have had him till 90 atleast. I think at this age he should have sat back & enjoyed his riches even more.
The body had started giving up. But, to perform like this at 70 something? That is incredible. I bet 40% of US pop at 40 can't do this! They are in such a bad shape to to gluttony on junk, not moving etc...
Though this is certainly one of his last performances, he did perform after this. He played in London on 27th October 2006. I'm so happy I got to see him, even if it was just once in 2004. If there's one reason I wish I'd been born 30 years earlier, it'd be to have seen the Godfather with the original JB's in 70/71.
I once had a chance to see Mr. James Brown, back during the middle 1990s, when he performed at the Hammond Civic Center located in Hammond, IN which was literally 10mins away from where I live at the time and I passed up the opportunity to purchase a ticket to the show, and as one can imagine, I regret not making the effort to see this amazing and super talented musician. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and thank you Mr. James Brown for all of the wonderful funky music you created while alive.
He was supposed too been at the brown family reunion back in July of 2006. I wish he was at our family reunion. I thought he was gonna be at the family reunion when I was young

Great man. Rest in Peace Sir.
Great job James Brown.....he kept going til the end even while sick....to much soul and funk in his soul to stop
Mr.Brown looked like he wasn't feel good but like he always did he gave it 110%
The body had started giving up. But, to perform like this at 70 something? That is incredible. I bet 40% of US pop at 40 can't do this! They are in such a bad shape to to gluttony on junk, not moving etc...
Without JB, we wouldn't have Michael Jackson and Prince.
John Mathews Haha! Old person here. Been there. Saw that. Still livin ' and never forgettin'!☘2019
Rest Easy Cousin JB. Your Lil Cousin From Barnwell, SC😇💙
