I have heard many 1967-79 Ford truck owners wish for an affordable OD auto trans w/o a computer. This is an excellent answer to that, much more affordable than a Gear Vendors solution with a C6.
I prefer the 3spd gm automatic th350, the metric electric version th350c pancake torque converter,th400, and the th400hd, and the 4L80/4L80E, and the th2004R
Bahahahaha!!! I've heard it all now! Taking a trans out that is virtually indestructible, to replace it with one that is known for failing with in 60k miles under a light load from v6's! What will they think of next? LMFAO!!!
Stock the early ones were a bit short on reliability. But remember that is the trans used in the Buick Grand Nationals which were beefed up from the regular V6 and 300 CID V8s. The afterarket got behind them for the turbo V6 drag racers so they are reliable to 800HP.
Trash mechanics go and remove a perfectly fine part and replace it with a Chevy part maybe some day someone will do something different and keep ford, a ford and a Chevy a Chevy

I think I'd have gone with a Tremec, or another manual. Replacing a manual with an automatic is like replacing a V8 with a 4cyl :(

Bell housing needs to be adapted for the AOD/4R70e Ford trans.
Just because you can do it does not mean you should. Why not install a ford automatic?
Size is a problem with the Ford OD transmissions
But ford produces an automatic, and an OD. Do they not fit?
