Nina is an AMAZING singer, performer and artist. It takes a certain sense of humor to fully apreciate Nina Hagen. She is'nt for dolts who have an 'American Idol type mentality concerning "talent" and admire bland homogenous performers like Avril Levine or Beyonce and their ilk.
Nina Hagen is my High Priestess. - Yes, "What it is" is "Was es ist." I have always preferred that one in German. I love it when she comes out with 2 of the same recordings- one in English, one in German. LOvE that! Nina is so cute and playful, she makes me smile- even on the darkest of days, Nina brings me light. I love you Nina, you are my treasure.
Can someone in the know let me know the context of this video? I was just interested to know why Nina was doing Was Es Ist on TV about 20 years-ish after she released it. Or maybe, well, this is Nina after all. Perhaps there doesn't need to be a reason. :)
( contd. from below. This damn character count ) As a singer I realy dig how she can sing like an opera singer one moment THEN sound like a friging demon another moment! Thats realy incredible! like to see any of those 'American Idol cretins do that. And she also has a realy cooimage sense to top it off.
Classic moment there. You get over the tiny bits of weirdness and get entirely drawn into Nina's performance, only to have the shit scared out of you by the little freak out at the end. XD I don't know whether or not Nina's genius is on an equal level with her insanity, but there' clearly some genius in there somewhere.
