This most remarkable human being and complete Artist named Nina Hagen is here heard and seen at one of her best songs. This one, in particular, redeems the European concept of Opera by a totally revolutionary performance by the Singer & Band. And maybe to the despair of the near neighborhood, I think I learned to play some parts of it on a flute. Tanx, dear Nina. May you always be near the Mahadev.
She's incredible, but I'd put Nina in the middle of Kate Bush, Mike Patton, and Zappa. This song is an 8 bar repeating chord cycle. Amazing to be certain. Zappa also never made remarks of the sort. Perhaps I'm autistic and reading too much into a joke. Respect to you, Hagen, Zappa and anyone else I've dragged into this 😂

1:58 what note is that... She has a 5 or 6 octave range. People were making a big deal out of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston in the 80s. I just discovered her and I think she's fantastic. Just completely weird and wonderful. Very talented and creative and of course being in German it takes on a whole new vibe. Goth & Punk bands to follow owe a lot to Nina Hagan.
Lyrics: Through the open window I can see The tiny clouds hovering in the sky The wind is blowing, my nose is freezing ... a few exhaust pipes are spluttering. Ah, the sun is going down Red and gold, as it should be I look down to the street below And see a friend standing there Suddenly my heart feels heavy I just need to see birds fluttering And my eyes turn up to the sky How it hurts my soul - how beautiful! Nature in the evening, a peaceful town Tormented soul, the tears flow It all makes me feel so feeble And makes the tears flow even more....
Oh man. Haven't heard this song for years. Hearing it again made me realize how much she influenced my life when I was a teenage member of the No Future generation. She teamed up with our one and only real rock n roll star Herman Brood. Both were artists who did loads of drugs. Crazy times. Raw life.
I just accidentally found this , she is extremely talented ! Such an amazing voice , one of the best I've heard in a long time !!! I love when she sang there with the guitar , I have never heard anyone attempt it !
You probably know it, but anyway, starts with: G6/D, F#7/C#, Fmaj7/C, E, then the same but all with E in the bass. The beauty is that all four chords have the note E in common.
This clip brought me to tears. Couldn’t understand why because the performance is so odd/silly. But then someone translated the lyrics… just incredible. Between the meaning of the lyrics and Nina’s vocals, she nailed it, beyond language. I cried and I don’t even understand German. True legend. True punk. Much respect.
When Opera met Punk and had a baby they named her Nina Hagen. The voice controls are amazing as she jumps from one register scenario to the next. Once possessed by the devil and thence meowing like a pussycat before becoming a hen. We are mere spectators on her bizarre journey from Earth to the great beyond. I love it!
No busquen más, esta es la mejor versión de su mejor canción, todos haciendo lo preciso... se alinearon las galaxias esos 4 minutos y se logró la perfección y para suerte nuestra quedó registrado.

This is the most badass thing I've ever witnessed 🤘
Dankeschön ❤
And this is the moment I know I've discovered something amazing tonight.
Had that moment last week.
Billie Eilish: I am weird and gothly
Nina Hagen:. Darling! Hold my beer!
That stupid girl Billie is both untalented (to me, she can't sing at all) and ugly. Nina was, is and will be forever authentic.
@@florenciasoler4767 you can have personal preferences, and i agree billie eilish is nowhere near hagan's level, but there was no need to bash a 19 year old singers appearance lol
@@elsie1679 ella no es cantante, el que esta sentado haciendo los ajustes en la pc, es el que deberia de llevarse los creditos en si
No matter how weird you think you are there is always someone just as or even weirder than you. All hail miss Hagen, 12 year olds cannot handle her.
@@tonyrisco2600 son estilos demasiado distintos como para comparar. Y te invito a escucharla en vivo
She looks like someone whose mother forced her to have opera singing classes but she rebelled against her when she grew up.
actually she grew up in socialist East Germany and was not accepted in opera for having 'suspicious' contacts... this is why she is not an opera singer... anyway... she would have been become Nina Hagen in either ways...
are you the 90´s generation or just styled like one
@@jansabarth9466 thank God
Hardly rebelling, considering how she embraced her operatic style and integrated into her act
@@likingraccoons Not really, there are barely any good Opera singers today, Elena Obraztsova is notably one of the last of the greats in the East, and not Dmitri Hvorostovsky
Its stupendous! Spectacular!! Phenomenal!!! ....And its good too. 👍
Frank Zappa: "I make the weirdest music in the world."
Hagen: "Hold my pacifier."
Try some Diamanda Galas.

@@PaddyWolfe Residents gets my vote! Xiu Xiu is definitely up there too.
Mister Wolfe Duck Stab/Buster is a fucking masterpiece.
I love that she enunciates so well. As dynamic as her voice and style is you can still understand her.
She is a master speaker + singer of the German language. At least I think she is. :)
@@steveheck4348 She's a trained opera singer. Her pronunciation here is different from conversational German because of it.

Невероятное владение голосом! Нина поёт не только телом, но и мимикой. Такая живая, естественная, искренняя на сцене. Спела моё состояние. Благодарю, Нина❤❤

why all the hate? this is beautiful and unique. i love it!!
diet drama This song is dope as fuck, and Nina Hagen is like probably my favorite singer next to Zora Cock from Black Briar
I don't think it's hate. Just out of work comedians trying out their punchline prowess.
Not liking something doesn't mean it's hate.
what hate ? dislike your comment and report.
@@edybocman76 Why? You should dislike and report comments that ARE hate, not stuff you just don't agree with. wtf
I came here by accident... started skipping around, started laughing, wanted to hate it but now I'm listening to it for the third time and about to look for some more from her.... so.... yeah.

Her earrings da Best and she posing and play face mimic to my goosebumps chicken skin. True talent.
I clap at the end everytime i rewatch this golden moment in musical history ✨✌️🤘
I always come back to this video at least 2x a year. Strange and so artistically expressive. I laugh at her expressions, yet I'm drawn to the passion, melody and vocal range. Hypnotic
Her and Vitas! True genius❤
She hits a E6!
The brown note

Same! Listening to her for the first time. She is amazing!
Her Mother was a Opera Singer.
the way she emotes is everything! it's the look of an artist giving it all, feeling it all. pure performance. 💕
Nina forever!!!
Lyrics:
Through the open window I can see
The tiny clouds hovering in the sky
The wind is blowing, my nose is freezing
... a few exhaust pipes are spluttering.
Ah, the sun is going down
Red and gold, as it should be
I look down to the street below
And see a friend standing there
Suddenly my heart feels heavy
I just need to see birds fluttering
And my eyes turn up to the sky
How it hurts my soul - how beautiful!
Nature in the evening, a peaceful town
Tormented soul, the tears flow
It all makes me feel so feeble
And makes the tears flow even more....
It's so beautiful 🖤
Spot on translation!
Do you think the bird noises at the end were chickens because she was up all night crying? :O
Thank you a lot for the translation.Greetings from Greece
Well, the translation is in important parts incorrect.

I tried to leave, but she nailed me to my chair with her voice.
Same here...i tried also🙊
🐔🐔🐔 then the ending politely snapped me out of my hypnotic daze 😂
Her voice is amazing. She pronounces every word perfectly,so crisp.
Hello how are you
Oh man. Haven't heard this song for years. Hearing it again made me realize how much she influenced my life when I was a teenage member of the No Future generation. She teamed up with our one and only real rock n roll star Herman Brood. Both were artists who did loads of drugs. Crazy times. Raw life.
this band with her was outststanding!
My favorite song of Nina..❤️
What a voice!
And l love her madness...
I just accidentally found this , she is extremely talented ! Such an amazing voice , one of the best I've heard in a long time !!! I love when she sang there with the guitar , I have never heard anyone attempt it !
Dimebag-Anselmo duel in Cemetery Gates is also epic.
It would be so interesting to have a Dimebag vs Hagen song...
Every year or so I come and watched this. So wonderfully unhinged.
Straordinaria ! Assolutamente straordinaria !
Love those earrings.. goes well with that cute hair style.. lovely personality🔥🖤
I didn't pay attention to the earrings lol
That chord progression is so beautiful
Esteban Rincon yes
You probably know it, but anyway, starts with: G6/D, F#7/C#, Fmaj7/C, E, then the same but all with E in the bass. The beauty is that all four chords have the note E in common.

This clip brought me to tears. Couldn’t understand why because the performance is so odd/silly. But then someone translated the lyrics… just incredible. Between the meaning of the lyrics and Nina’s vocals, she nailed it, beyond language. I cried and I don’t even understand German. True legend. True punk. Much respect.

Let's see..
