I feel it's safe to say RVIDD is the most detailed and top notch RUclipsr covering State of Decay or any game for that matter. I'm A HUGE FAN! Love the vid Rvidd!
The nerfing of the Haven device is upsetting, but the outpost defense options are a good option to have.
Do you know if you can activate the outposts traps while away from the outpost? Or do you need to be there to activate them?
@@DivinePenguin00 If it is anything like it is on beta currently, you can activate them from anywhere.
Devs said it was goo enough to cover 1 wave in a siege, rather then be blank card to ignore them, its an interesting change. Will see if they keep it or buff it a bit. maybe 2 waves?
@@Iby00 I'd take a "buff" whereby they make it take up a small slot instead of a large one, that feels fair to me.
@@bajcli just use the mod to do that its easy
Although special zombies dropping items doesn't make a ton of thematical sense it does now give me a reason to go out of my way to kill Juggernauts instead of just avoiding them or saving my Sniper Support for whenever I run into one.
On lethal monsters that wasted time and ammunition for little to no gain beside influence were honestly better left alone and that in itself would create problem, now with this feature it feels great although I think only special infected drop things when they are a part of infestations.
@@captainblastems3367 but it will also increase unnecessary risk and I mean why would zombies drop guns and ammo presses from their bodies ?? Maybe they can drop plague samples and and 1 type of plague pill like zedranaline or zombait or scentblock
Yes, this pretty much makes them a peniata, from which you need to knock out a prize, instead of a danger that is sometimes more profitable to circumvent than to disturb
@@arhantjoshi_1898 thats more busted than 9mm bullets
They probably ate the items on accident when they chowed down their latest victim!
i cant believe the devs are keep going to make this game more and more fun, great job. love this community
Freaks straight up dropping loot is REALLY cheesy. I'd be happier with the items simply being deposited into the supply locker with a message like "Look what I found cleaning up that infestation site!" or in a locker inside the infestation site.
I like that idea, actually. It's a nice medium of getting the goods and not seeming so "Bam loot on the ground"
Could be like project zomboid and the loot could be affixed to the zombie in some way
Now they've annoyed me.
If people think the Haven device is op, that's your opinion and you can choose not to use it.
Others, however like having peace of mind playing Lethal zone knowing there isn't a siege happening every 5mins.
At this point, they're just destroying the fun and the "play how you want to play" slogan.
Sure, outpost traps returning is cool (33 updates later 😒), but I feel like what this update needed was a handful of brand new missions and removing some fetch request ones.
A new fleshed out story driven legacy leader role.
And the inclusion and remastered map of Danforth City.
Instead, this update has given me a reason to probably play much less than I do already, and also just play on Green or Dread mode from now on.
I can see where you would be frustrated for sure, but the things you're wanting out of a game that's pretty much near the end of it's "life span" is a bit much. Those things would be nice, but are definitely a reach at this point.
@@jesterconfit9549 I'm not so sure the game Is near its end of life span..
The Devs have said there are more updates to come, SoD3 teaser was revealed in 2020 and I'm quite sure we won't be seeing a release until fall 2025.
At this rate, you won't even be able to initiate or complete tedious missions because you're spending all your time fighting infestations and plague hearts and more resources on weapons like fire bombs.
Are we gonna even be able to scavenge resources at this rate?
Have they fixed the bug from since way back before juggernaut edition where sleeping bloaters spawn out of thin air Right in front of your speeding car and cost you a survivor?
I play this game in a chilled way. I don't wanna be overwhelmed and speedrun through the game.
it's unreal how this game has improved since the release. huge thanks to undead labs and rvid for the detailing.
I like the haven device I had to work hard to get it. I like it prevent sieges cause I get tired of always having to return home to fight and with some bases they spawn bosses that might cause an endless glitch of zombies that will cost me a survivor. Haven prevented the bull from happening 🤷🏿♂️
It seems like they're trying to make this game harder and waaaaay more tedious
Idk what I'd do without you RvidD. Keep up the amazing work!
Besides the Haven nerf this update seems dope
Some things will be great. Most will be ok. My favorite you mentioned is actually being able to shoot 90° down at a feral while on a vehicle.
Thank you Rvid for another great video. Much appreciated. Keep up the good work!
I love this! Sniping and stealth are going to have a reason to be done now! This is great work by the devs! Can't wait to play the update...
Once again, I appreciate all your research 🙏
Thanks for the update man.
Another good video. Concise and informative!
RVid thank you sooooooo much for this video. You did a great job!
I even made a final changes video!
Thanks for the update!
great video, very clear and conscise
Thanks for the great review, Cant wait till the update is released,
Wow it's really been 15 months?! I must have been living my life on 1.5x speed.
Infestations update initially released in beta on Jan 2022!
Thank you for the information
Real good video man
i absolutely never used the haven device in my 400hrs of gametime so this update is really good now, apart from that my only complain now is the human enemies, sure if they can one shot us with any weapon, we should be able to do the same. i wish we had a few new maps and weapons but knowing how they are working on Sod3 i guess we have to give up on the idea.
loving this update so far
Damn bro you really got every detail
Thanks❤
I don't use the haven device, for me the haven device takes all the fun out of the game.
When I looked up what it did I thought it looked way to overpowered and it would essentially nullify the new updates features
@@captainblastems3367 Overpowered stuff that completely obsolete mechanics is how this game rolls.
True. I love sieges at home because my community members fk the hell outta zombies together
I love it cause I hated having to race back to the base to defend against an attack
same!
This makes me feel like playing again.
need to wait for the update sometime in May but yeah for sure. should be a ton of fun.
Excellent Ravid, nj with the details of the patch, btw did you say when it says heart stirs its basically at 70%? So you still could kill more then -2 zeds in lethals zone and not wake it up? (Ive been playing the beta extensively and trying not to wake any up).
Exactly. 11 plague zombies wake up hearts. So you have breathing room to kill 2 more after the warning.
But "Ravid"??😢
So the haven device is pointless now? What was the point of that🤦🏽
Kinda makes obtaining the thing kind of... Like, maybe?
infestation rewards sound great!
I love getting goodies 😁
Been playing it on Beta Lethal zone and love it! Don't forget to tune your difficulty levers as needed when it comes out. This will feel a bit tougher than normal SOD2 for lethal and nightmare players. I doubt green, standard and dread players will have to adjust too much to this update.
Do you use the Haven Device bud? Do you find the nerf was too harsh or did it add some balance to it?
@@jesterconfit9549 I don't personally use the haven device on my beta version. I do have it installed on my xbox version of the game, but I haven't played that community for some time now. Having seen what Rvid put out about the haven device, I would say it's prob not a good idea to invest an entire large slot for it anymore if your community is well armed. I personally don't think people spend enough time thinking about the equipment they leave on their folks to defend the base. Most of my survivors are wielding heavy weapons for melee and burst fire machine guns with a few 50 cals sprinkled in. At that point there is no need for a haven device, lol...
@@The_Makr_ definitely agree on the equipment note. I give all my community members a BAR for their gun, don’t give them sidearms, and CLEO battle axes for their melee. Haven’t lost a single member to lethal sieges.
Great point! I always do my rounds and see who has what equipped before I head out anywhere or just while I'm hanging around, it makes all the difference. Once I heard a crossbow going off repeatedly and looked over to see my watchtower person trying to shoot a Jugg at the border of the safe zone and just laughed my ass off.
@@jesterconfit9549 would almost be worth it one time to give everyone a crossbow just to see the insanity first hand, lol...
I have a forever community that is set up just how I wanted it. Worked hard to get it to that point--cars, enclave bonuses, etc. If I don't feel like resetting the map or finishing the community, can I still play the game normally, or is this update going to force a reset on existing communities?
I don't mind if the updates don't get added to that old community if it means I don't have to restart it or anything.
Yeah I would like to know this as well.
Yeah baby, thats the stuff👍
What you got? Oh you know... stuuff
Are you coming for the ribbon cutting?
While the nerfing of the Haven device is a huge slap to the face, I appreciate the comeback of outposts having traps like fire mines and the more arcade-y nature of clearing infestations with freak giving you rewards, as in power ups!
I hope it plays out nicely, i think it will!
Although I havnt played in qquite a while, this update does seem to make the game somewhat "easier", idk how to feel about it yet, great video nonetheless!
So, the whole original reason to get the damn haven device was to not worry about a siege, and they just said nah we change our mind of fecking course they did
The watchtower buff sounds useful, but did they ever fix the issues with AI and base defense that you outlined in your other video? Seems like it would still be a bad idea to use them.
Unless the tower design and AI are improved, watchtowers will make the base bad at defense.
Dude i always use watch towers and its deff better than not using them lmao the haven is only slightly better
in one of your video's you were basically totally against defence towers does update 33 change your mind at all should we still not build them or are they good enough now to be worth building in your opinion?
You can go for RT or sniper tower if zombie hordes keep wandering into your base.
Lock & Keogh and a few other bases are located exactly over a zombie route.. So zombie hordes will keep bothering you in those bases..
if that's the case, top tier towers will be useful. Still, they are not good for defense. They are only good for preventing zombie spawns.
The update is also on xbox ?
Still waiting for a way to change 5th skill professions and for them to disconnect the outfit tops from bottoms de we can mix and match.
I like some of these changes. At the moment infastasions are just an annoyance with out any real game play value, unless you like taking them down which I only bother with on lethal zone for moral. Infastasions that attack our bases gives me an inventive to deal with them. But I'm not sure how I feel about zombies dropping items. To me that looks like mechanics from borderlands and fallout 4. Boss typ enemies dropping loot.
I really wish they would make it so, whenever you claimed an outpost there was a way to drop off rucksacks too, sometimes I hate having to drive all the way across the map to drop them off only to drive all the way back to continue looting, it drives me nuts sometimes lol!
Feel like that would make everything way to easy but just know a little exploit is to switch characters at an outpost and they can also hold rutsacks until you get back to base
the only mod i use to play the game is a vehicle storage increase, i changed all vehicles to have 100 slots this fixes that annoying issue.
@@Destan-jp5zu Again that just seems really broken to drive around with what is essentially a storage locker but you know if it makes you enjoy the game then good on you
Just switch players @ the outposts and give the other characters rucksacks
@@captainblastems3367 it makes the game SOOOO much better!
Do you know if built-in towers (Fire Station scout tower, etc.) will increase safe-zone radius, and if so, how much?
Built in towers increase the radius too. Fort marshal and container fort receive +45M. Other built-in towers receive +30M
@@StateofDecayScience Awesome, thanks. 👍
You said that watch towers are more of a hazard than help in a previous video. With the new extended safe zone feature with watch towers do you still feel the same way?
Watchtowers are a hazard because of their design and tower AI.
What extended safe zone does is, it prevents zombies from accumulating around the safe zone. The game can only render zombies within ~90 meters from our location. Since Sniper and RT towers extend the radius upto ~120 meters, the game cannot render zombies beyond that.
So if you like that, watchtowers are good. As long as you don't get a super massive siege, watchtowers won't be a problem.
Watchtowers now exploit the game limitations to be useful instead of being good on its own!!!
@@StateofDecayScience Thanks. I enjoy your content and value your experience with this game.
So my game automatically updated to this and now it glitches and stutters every 5 seconds and is legit unplayable.... Does anyone know of a way to revert to last update? Or fix this?
Finally i would have the reason to use cell tower as an outpost. Never used those before, they were pointless for me. I'm glad they changed it.
still waiting for a proper shoulder switch aim, and first person toggle while aiming for proper sniping, then im good
Do built in watchtowers and guard posts get increased base scouting too?
Built in towers increase the radius too. Fort marshal and container fort receive +45M. Other built-in towers receive +30M.
@@StateofDecayScience that's good to know, thanks!
I wondered when they would finally add the feature for outpost defence they had in the OG.
What kind of defense are you asking? Because this update already has outpost defense. You can check my most recent video about that.
@@StateofDecayScience I was talking about outpost defence being added into SoD 2. Prior to recent update you couldn't set mines ect but you could have that option in the original state of decay from what I remember. It's option was called set traps.
@@ashleycreek5764 Yes, that's what I was talking about.
@@StateofDecayScience just a passing comment about being glad they finally added the feature.
Once again, thank you for the in-depth information! You're the man!
My thoughts, this is a great update. I hate what they did with the Haven Device though. I liked having a place where I could not have to worry about anything attacking me, where I didn't have to climb on something to be safe. And you have to do a lot to get it. It's kind of insulting that they would change it like this..
Did they mention a car boot update at some point too? not in the last stream but earlier? has that happened yet? and amazed to see so many haters on twitter going on about SoD3 as if they havent been working on this update for a year+ now. Really looking forward to finally getting my hands on it when it drops. SoD3 can wait, hopefully that drops with a special edition 2Tb xbox series x, ok thats a lie, it can wait but next 12/18 moths would be cool
Increased car trunk space was revealed in December!
Vai ter mapa novo ?
I'm still mourning one of my favorite survivor, Beth's death and RVid is helping me
Have we played before? Something like that only happened before starting this channel
@RvidD's State of Decay Science I don't think so bc she died yesterday
this game still get an update ? can't believe it
i like this
What about the disruptor from cell tower outpost?
4:02 number 14 he talks about it
Captain has given the exact timestamp!!
Sorry!!
I don't understand the haven nerf. If you feel the game is too easy with it active, then don't use it. Why penalized everybody's game? Maybe improve other facilities to give the players a harder choice on what to build. If the haven is really worth the large slot over [insert updated facility here].
But everyone knows they dont want a hassle, installing the Haven is tempting and op though, if they want challenging, nerfing the Haven is actually a good idea.
This is called balance. Things must be balanced, otherwise those that are objectively worse will not be used and work as mechanics. Dead mechanics limit the choice, make the game less versatile.
No one will use a deliberately weak thing when there is a better one, especially on high difficulties. It's like putting sticks in the wheels of a bicycle you riding.
If you need broken mechanics and exploits to play the game, then reduce the difficulty.
Just installing the device on Lethal mode is a nightmare within itself... Now they've nerfed it too?!..
Green and Dread mode from here on out.
@@Jackfromshack That's how I feel about it. I personally don't play much lethal for several reasons and if I did, I wouldn't rely on one facility for my sustainability. 🤷🏽
@@Jackfromshack
It's achieved through a quest line on a specific map and the sieges to set up the haven device are no joke. Choice, choice, choice. You don't ever have to even get the haven device.
You have the choice to not do the quest line or even set up the haven device.
And your best answer to choices a player can make is yet another choice: don't play lethal.
We have outpost defense noow ?? Really just like in sod1
I missed it
@@captainblastems3367 same i missed a lot of updates
cant wait!
They should adding alternative climate, like rain or snow, would be more realistic.
Finally a way I can farm prestige without dealing with having to go through daybreak 5 TIMES (5 wave or more) to get one operator
God damn 15 mins....
Welp time to salvage my heaven device, i guess i could build Armory
I don't like them nerfing CLEO like this. Im a casual and CLEO gives me breathing room, now I have to battle hordes outside and inside consistently WITH plague hearts ''awakening'' come on. Im just trying to relax after work not be Rick Grimes.
Haven device nerf doesn't upset me one bit, the game got way too easy once I got my hands on one.
Any way to _not_ Update the game?
Not happy with the haven device nerf ruins the game as they said at the beginning of the first stream the haven device wasn't getting touched
That's dramatic lol

И теперь слова Иззби после этого квеста, что ваша база фактически зомбинепроницаемая не имеют смысла...
Why weapon drops? How about genetic drops for craftable weapons. Like a juggernaut will drop a spine or something that can be used to craft a weapon or something.

I hope state of decay 3 has real multiplayer
First thing I will do is installing a mod to remove the nerf to haven device. Fuck that decision
Release date????
May 10
No new map where you can live in a mall with 40 people?
Buff for cell towers actually makes them worth having as an outpost instead of just using them for skills lol
not really . Parts cost is really high for the ROI
Are the AIs still stupid when manning watchtowers?
Yes!
@@StateofDecayScience Maybe in update 50 or so
haven device nerf is really bad. its in the name haven device it is ment to keep people safe. now its not even worth it to build one because 7spcials isnt good. i remember building this and then creating a tv room in large space i know its a game but making fully selfsuffitient base thats completly safe and has many people makes the game cosy and it lets us really connect to it in a possitive way, now the noise needs to be down or else the zombies will come and yes my survivors can easily defend but it cleates a lack of safe feeling. i know its just a game but still in game feelings matter
nooooo haven device is nerfed!!! well earning prestige is better tho its a good trade...
If Heaven Device kills 20 regular zombies - it will not kill a single freak zombie?
I mentioned this in the video. 7 freaks.
@@StateofDecayScience but in the video you said "OR", that's why I'm clarifying that it indeed cannot kill 20 regulars AND 7 freaks.
@@DarkN3r0 Yes. Not both!
@@StateofDecayScience in such case I think they should add an option to the facility to chose whether you want it to shoot regular zombies or not...

Yeah, aware of that!
The loot that drops is as random ad the ones in the cases
. Its not any better. Those are the words of the devs from the last stream..
Bruh they need Nerf lethal Zone not only the device
🧟♂️🧟♀️🧟
They stopped adding new stuffs except downgrading the whole improvements to this game and call it an update... Sure 🦁
Everything seems amazing but the freaks dropping loot , doesn't make sense , the rest of the game makes sense
wait Releasing Next Month not this Month they delay again
Not a fan of nerfing the Haven device.
It takes a large slot and barely does anything?
Congrats, UL made it useless.
They ruined the Haven device bruh
I'm not a fan of this new update, Undead lab forcing the player to play aggressive when there's so much limited resources on higher difficulty, and the way Undead lab plays on stream is not the way the majority ppl play SOD2 cause making noise bring so much hordes and how they weaken the haven device defeats the purpose of working so hard to get it,love your videos and glad I played SOD2 during it prime
Aww, haven is trash now. Back to watchtowers and door blocking for me.
With 45m extened radius, no zombie spawns outside the safe zone. Safe zone extends beyond the rendering range.
That enemies drop things is a shitty thing why monsters should give you a drop ? LMAO
I too don't like that. That's a cheap way to make infestations interesting
@@StateofDecayScience and the thing you just have to kill screamers is bullshit too... yeah screamers + horde = infestation so - screamers remain only horde so ok, but this is not challenging anymore if is that easy
Exactly!! I don't get why Undead Labs keeps changing core gameplay elements, now we have to learn how to play the game with a different strategy. I'm not a fan of the sleeping plague hearts or the nerf to the haven device. Prestige is enough of a reward, if they're making bloaters drop meds it defeats the purpose of crafting them lol.
@@StateofDecayScience Genuinely curious as to what way you would change infestations?
@@captainblastems3367 I will make infestations as a protection to plague hearts. If we wake one heart, it will start building infestations around it to protect itself from us. It will make destroying that plague heart slightly more challenging. So infestations will not feel like some forced mechanic.
Of course, lonely hearts cannot do this. They can send hordes to form siege infestations around our base.
Explained this here. ruclips.net/video/1d7dV6ROLW0/видео.html
This community seems impossible to please 💀 They want like GTA5 size updates anytime the devs take a breath. I don't love every choice that is being made, but I also haven't played it and felt it out myself over any period of time before I started crying on to my screen. How some of you can enjoy video games with how you act is beyond my understanding ,clearly.
This game has completly fell off the wagon. Not in a rush for this update or more bugs 🤣
I dont like the infestations bullshit lmao
jesus calm down buddy, They are updating the game to make it different and more interesting have you perchance talked to the devs in a polite manner on the discord and or the live streams and offered what you would like better because if not I think complaining is quite useless.
yeah thats the point, which is why they are changing it
@@captainblastems3367 Updating the game to make it different, perhaps, more interesting is debatable. Frankly this new infestation mechanic was not needed or requested by most of the fanbase. It takes away player choice, restricts your gameplay style and forces you to play in a manner dictated by the developers with the addition of this new mechanic. You must deal with plague hearts before infestations and seiges get out of control. You cannot loot certain areas lest you aggro zeds and awaken "sleeping" plague hearts. It will be fun for awhile but get old quickly. I appreciate Undead Labs and the work they put into SOD2 but this will not be their best update. The time and resources they expended on this would have been better used to tweak and refine the current version of the game.
@@larryhuffman4326First I just want to let you know that you phrase your argument as if it was factual and that already makes it hard to provide a counter (and makes you come off worse) Things like "The time and resources they expended on this would have been better used to tweak and refine the current version of the game." make you come off as a bit of an arse, even with the prior sentiments toward the developers.
another thing is many people play this game in various ways I myself do not use exploits of any nature and stay away from any form of DLC (note I do not think everyone should do this). That being said:
I think the focus having infestations move and not just appear randomly is awesome and the fact that the only infestations that affect moral are the ones close to base mean that I am more open to doing side tasks rather than focusing on all the infestations due to bad moral, I also enjoy the way outposts feel in the update I missed making tactical choices on what outposts go where in order to protect my base.
I have not played the PTR so I really do not know much about awakened plague hearts but it seems like if I just stealth around and be careful I will be fine.
Freaks dropping items is way too overpowered in my opinion, especially the juggernauts.
Also having all those outpost defense options from the get go without any special requirements is a tad unrealistic
Curious as to what difficulty you play, because I do know some people who kick ass on the hardest and act like its easy for everyone.
I enjoy the loot its nothing major and with the outposts for them to be especially effective you might need to take outposts in tactical positions instead of outposts that have resources you need.
@@captainblastems3367 I always play on lethal, this update will make the game way too easy
@@mungus9427 I still have trouble with lethal, then again I start it with a new group and apparently some people say to wait till you have a group of people built up, do you also use exploits like cars and things like that because limiting the use of those might make the game better.
All I am saying is that I dont think as many people are out here kicking ass on lethal as it would seem, good for you but Idk if we should base the games difficulty off that
@@captainblastems3367fair enough, I wish UL would give us an option to turn certain features off. I just love the feeling of barely scraping by, without having high quality guns being handed to me on a silver platter for just killing a juggernaut
@@mungus9427 I mean the use of those high quality guns is up to you, I stay away from the dlc packs because it just seems unfair most of the time

@@captainblastems3367 It's almost like people forget this game is about to be 5 years old and that is pretty miraculous we still get content of any kind added. It truly makes you understand the whole expression of "giving an inch and they take a mile" or whatever
@@jesterconfit9549 the general sentiment of most gamers is entitled and compounded with it is a severe lack of understanding when it comes to actual game design.
Lol. Leave it to UL to come up with a storyline, set of missions to get a device just to nerf it into uselessness. At least I know when I can uninstall this, next month.
You would uninstall the game for that one device? If that is so then maybe they were right to nerf it as you relied on it to much.
@@captainblastems3367 no. The update on the whole. SOD used to be a unique game, now it's just about killing zombies
@@captainblastems3367 the should have expanded the story, make leaders actually mean some besides which facilities you can build. Build on the community aspect. No, more zombies more infestations.
@@Irish1Eric the game doesn’t really change all that much in fact you have to kill less zombies if you think about it, outposts if placed well can take care of most hordes around the base, and the only ones effecting moral are the ones close to you meaning instead of driving around killing infestations everywhere you kill max 3-4 and are done with it
