Compared to those massively thick waves in Oz the Hawaii pipes looks almost delicate. I know they're not and would shred you to pieces. Wow, some great footage.

Crazy how ship sterns will look like a great wave but form double ups or ledges in just a fraction of a second. These guys know they are there but you never know exactly when it's coming. Also, blows the mind to see in front of the wave and how the actual water level sinks well below sea level and rise up again. Shows the power these massive such machines are

Ship Stern, Cyclops, The Right.....naturally it’s Oz that has the absolute most physics defying waves on the planet. They have the physics defying surfers to deal with them. 👍🇨🇦

pretty good vid. As a surfer, I feel you made excellent choices for deadliest: location, heaviness, & sharks are my deciding fact. For example: Yes, Nazare at 80+ft can kill you. but with the safety crews, & nice sandy beach, the surfers are safers than say........Shipstern's Bluff (I think 'Shippies' doesn't give it proper respect) Also take the crowds into consideration. The kooks, or mediocre surfers with $$ that wanna say "I rode Chopes-Pipe-Malibu-insert wave here" but then you've got the drunken kooks in boats, in the channel, the surfer's one safe spot. Imagine negotiating the wave of your life only to be splattered by a boat in the fckn channel.
One other thing. Music's subjective, personally my taste does not run to heavy metal. But SOOOOOOO many vids use metal.
Try some Jack Johnson, a talented musician & surfer. Or........Goons of Doom, Ozzie Wright a very talented surfer, musicians......ummmmmmm, well, uhhhhhh, yeah
Why add the CPR at the end?????? I lost someone like that! You're not thinking of the family and friends of that young man who is fighting for his life! Nor are you thinking about people like myself who have gone through that experience! By adding that footage at the end - you turn this video into a FACES OF DEATH video!
Surfing big waves is very deadly. Of Course! However, its made safer then formula one driving or skiing, through years of training, athletic SKILL at the highest level, and MASTERING THE ART of surfing - when/where/how ones surfs any spot successfully. Thats why I love to watch. Not because how dangerous it is, but because of the PURE MASTERY SKILL of the surfers and the beauty and power of the ocean. Every wave if different and every ride is different. Truly an amazing sport. Please pull the video and repost without the CPR. Please.

I understand Pipeline's toll on surfers mainly because of the sheer numbers, it's location and that shallow reef.
But Dam.... those Aus monsters looks liked like were created by mother nature and she was pissed! Rocks,sharks and 5-10 foot ledges on the wave thrown in just for the hell of it.
Shipsterns, the only wave with a built in launch ramp mid ride.

The definition of surfing in Australia is 50ft huge monster barrels. Cyclops is heavy and big. The right is the same. Ship sterns is just 10000 waves in one. These guys balls are so big I’m surprised they stay on there boards with all that weight!

The large strip with the location of the wave obscures much of the wave action. Also, there's a strip at the top with the location. Why twice and why the crazy big title that obscures the action.

I don't know how anyone surfs at Shipstern bluff, those don't look like surfing waves (teahupoo too). They look disorganized just folding over top of one another, heavy, chaotic and crushing everything in it's path. They look like death to me! More power to the brave Aussies who surf there. From a Mom's point of view...Be careful! lol

The wipe out @ 3:00 was absolutely terrible...that guy went down in one of the worst spots on one of the heaviest waves really close to a shallow reef and in waters filled with sharks
theirs a shelf at the right, the reef is only shallow on the take off and rolls into very deep water. drowing is the main scare not hitting the reef.

Pipeline has had actual fatalities. Shippies, and The Right have not. Cyclops has broken a few backs. But Cyclops the nastiest place out of these spots.
@@Les_Grossman80 yeh and more sailors have drowned in the Mediterranean than the Southern Ocean, yet one is a bathtub in comparison to the other, fatalities is potentially more caused by the number of users and competence of users than it is caused by the power and unique qualities of the wave and location
As someone who has surfed pipe I promise it's way more dangerous than it looks especially back door. The waves are crazy fast and the reef is super shallow
@@Xman1739 i surf the south West and did a Hawaii trip the sound of the barrel at off the wall was like nothing iv heard right before it swallowed me up I did notice that off the wall back door and pipe have a lot of close outs in-between the makeable ones not being a local I took what I could get copped a lot of floggings on waves no one else paddled for because that's all they will give you I would rather the West only a couple of local spots but I say fuck em if I paddle out when its my turn to go and im in the spot im going there all talk 8n the south West with localiam but Hawaii that has a pecking order to follow

bodyboarders have gnarlier footage of some of those waves and theyre also paddling in. But thats what youd expect from the people that founded nearly all of them
Not one clip of bodyboarders paddling these waves and throwing them self over the lip especially for how many you find out at these places when there maxing out and they forgot the box the world's best struggled there when wsl held hearts there mostly the local lads schooled the rest of them jack paddled out 2 9s in 5 minutes Taj doesn't even suf it and ate the competition up but his home break is rabbits a fucken monster when its on iv been to Hawaii but iv surfed the south West region my whole life 5m swell ese winds south west rivels any place and a 7m clean swell fuck me the whole coast is a fucken monster of waves that will rival anywhere 8n the world including Hawaii JJF shot half his movie here Hawaii has pipe we have the womb and north point they might have jaws but we have slabs that make jaws look playful and cow bomby holds its own on the right day

Waves inside of waves or cross waves totally mess us up and these video footages really serve no justice from the real surf

Big waves are pretty tough without sharks, moguls (steps, ledges), freezing temperatures, rock pinnacles, etc. Still not as crazy as base jumping in a wing suit, now there's a death wish. In my day skydiving, mountain climbing were the so called cheap thrills but that wasn't enough, now it's free climbing, wingsuiting, making jumps on bikes that make Evel Knievel look like a pussy. Hey, right on, good luck to you.
