Broken Arrow meant they were fucked and all aircraft in the area were to drop their ordnance on whatever coordinates they needed. Usually was right on top of their position. Still is nice to have some kick ass explosions to run from though 😎
Broken Arrow, when a u.s. strong hold has been overwhelmed and overraned with enmey combatants. So every available aircraft in the designated theater is stacked from like 500-10,000 feet or more to drop ordinance until the threatening force is stopped.
Radek Motycka Best part is the pilots answer. Hes doesnt even go like "Are you sure?" or anything. He's just "Roger that, cya ya!" and bombs the living shit out of him the second he asked for it xD
Every time I hear Fortunate Son I IMMEDIATELY think of this intro. I think this game and Battlefield 1942 were some of the best games I played growing up as a kid. It’s honestly the reason I keep playing Enlisted because the pacing and the gameplay feel so much like the OG battlefields and not the hyper speed gameplay you see in BF1 and BF5.
this game was as amazing as the rest of the series before it. most of your younger kids wont understand how these games were once a pinnacle of what the development industry was during this time. I am personally sorry that most of you here will never be able to experience something this awesome. RIP Gamespy.
You know, i was thinking the irony, kids now days, in 20 years will look down at this time and say "man fornite was the pinacle of gaming, that was an epic childhood!" 😆
LoL He calls Broken Arrow like it happens any other day. You can tell DICE was using the popular Vietnam films as reference without doing much research. They even said so themselves. LoL
And to those readin this comment and doesn't know - Broken Arrow is either the key Word for an accidental nuclear incident, or a distress call used to call in all air support, to prevent an are becoming overrun.
From what I gathered, broken arrow means air support on your position regardless of danger close. So like you said, only those overwhelmed by an enemy presence make such a call. And, a nuke in a way is air support in that instance.
I absolutely LOVED stealing the napalm plane while being the opposing team, having to "return" to the enemy base to refuel ammo and avoid being shot down by opposing players who realized the plane was stolen by the other team.
@@Wabbaaajack consider three things: 1. most people who played this know about vietnam from movies such as Apocalypse Now, for example, therefore it was a good way to appeal to their target audience 2. you have to somehow show off most of the core game features within the trailer and, all things considered, I think this turned out fine 3. battlefield has never been a shooter as realistic as HLL, PS or SQUAD overall you can't really say the trailer is bad as you're trying to summarize a decently sized game and a 20 year conflict within a single minute

This was a amazing game. I remember i jump into some random guys jeep. The song Surfin' Bird from the Trashmen was on fully loud and that jeep was driving and jumping full speed over Hills and everything while Bombs hit left to us right to us and on and on. It was total chaos and this vietnam Music... I Was like WTF. So much fun.
he says "broken arrow" right before, which means he's been overrun by enemies and is requesting an airstrike on his location as a last ditch effort to wipe out the enemy and either sacrifice himself or somehow live through the bombing an escape
Fleetadmiral33 You're partially correct. Broken Arrow is not a commonly used term for calling in an airstrike. It was a code word exclusively used for calling in a airstrike in the Battle of la Drang.
Fleetadmiral33 Actually IIRC it's not specifically "danger close", it's used when a position is close to being overrun, and it's to request all available air support. It's basically short for "we're fucked, do everything you can to un-fuck us". Though yeah, when a position is close to being overrun it's generally going to be danger close.
That is easily my number 1 issue with modern battlefield games, is the linear campaign. I'm not entirely sure about 2142, but I know all of the games from battlefield 2 and earlier had non-linear campaigns, which made them awesome. It wasn't about completing objectives, it was about killing your enemies and taking command posts no matter the cost. It was much more strategic than the modern "run run run, shoot shoot shoot, run run run" that campaigns have now.
It's really a question of what you played first. My favorite is 1942, for the simple reason that I played that game first, and it took up a large bit of my childhood. The nostalgia counts for alot.
This game and 1942 was my childhood

That's what Broken Arrow means, one is being overrun and asking for the last ditch resort of a close air bombing, look it up.
