  • As requested by multiple people, here's a cart update from late July. Since this video I have gotten rid of many of the manual bins I mentioned were going to be going away soon. I also have added two new carts and one new manual bin. I might do another update in a few months, if not I will probably do one by Spring 2014. Also note that I did not include the 64 Cascade as well as a few others.

They used sterling/ McNeilus rls for trash. They stopped curbside recycling about 5 years before going automated. They had Heil recyclers and I think the newer dempster trucks with internationals

I got mine off of Craigslist. Carts pop up there from time to time, I have since gotten a couple more carts from Craigslist. IMO That would be your safest bet. Although I do see carts abandoned in the not so desirable areas of Detroit all the time. Typically around 8 mile or Mexican Village is where I see them abandoned the most. Although I did see a pass a Toter EVR II sitting in the median along Telegraph last week when I was on my way to Taylor. It might still be there.

You have a pretty good mix of bins now. My collection of carts hasn't changed much over the last year. But my manual cans have been constantly changing. The brown classic Rubbermaid is beast! - now you just need a blue and green. Honestly, I think you have one of the best collections of mixed bins (carts, cans, tubs). Also, I found the model number to that dark olive Rubbermaid in the beginning.

Yeah, I have been trying to add more. I really want to get an electric blue 2894. I would not mind a powder blue one either as I did have one many years ago when I lived in Clawson. And as you likely saw on Facebook, I have since added two new carts and a brand new manual can.

Yeah I have followed almost all the drivers in the city but, that was before I started uploading. The driver of 303 is Gary. He's a cool guy, and has been a garbage man for 37 years. 306 is the spare so most of the drivers end up using it every now and again

I filmed 303 on garbage for the most part. I did get a walk around of 306, but no footage of it collecting since it had broken down right before I got there. I did see a Leach RL with a blue chassis and white body pass by on Telegraph as well. Is that one of the Yard Waste trucks?

Ok. I'll look into that. Hey when you were in Taylor what truck did you film?

Sweet collection, dang that 120 WMX is a great score! I've been watching my local CL for carts and bins, a few free black Rehrig 95U lately, but otherwise not much besides overpriced junk. I have gotten a few more recycle tubs though since my collection video, 2 Minneapolis ones from a friend, and one county rural solid waste comm. from an unknown manufacturer. BTW good call getting that EVRII 32 when you did, I think they're going to snap on wheels now.

Thanks. I have gotten two Ottos since this video and am soon going to get something else. I also am planning on getting a couple recycle bins later this week. I still would not mind getting a blue 32 EVR II even if they have snap on wheels.

For sure the 120 is my favorite. I really wish I could get another one with a tipper rack though. I am not sure if they are or are not. I got it in June, 2012. It never hurts to look though. I now am hoping to get one of the more rare blue CiTY bins

The animal stopper looks pretty cool! The old bruisers were the best cans ever made! I'll never understand y they quit making them

Yeah, both drivers mentioned you had filmed them before. The driver of 303 was the same from your newer video of 303. I do not remember seeing driver of 306 in your videos though.

Dang! That's impressive. 306 had been collecting recycling before it broke down. I remember you mentioning a few days before that 301 broke down too, so it was likely filling in for 301. What trucks did they use prior to going automated? I saw one of the old green Taylor recycling bins setout at a house in my neighborhood tonight.

I did not steal that cart. Or any of my carts for that matter. I purchased it off of Craigslist.
