The problem is a part in the alternator . I forget the part name. Another F-150. The tahoes are known for transmission issues.
The service writer at the Ford dealer was telling me there is an issue with the alternators, so if this one quits, I'll probably just swap the truck out... but I do like the look of the new Tahoe's.

Personally the tahoe looks good but I've never been able to get over how hard it is to see over the dash. You can't go wrong with a xl f150 with the 2.7 ecoboost though, I've heard fantastic things about those little engines, also love the 3.5 in my expedition.
I do have the 2.7 in my current truck - runs like a champ... now if I could get the electrical system to work with me instead of against me.

I'm not going to lie, the new Tahoe looks amazing. I like having the bed, but I could probably get away with a rubber mat in the back of a Tahoe - and it would work just as good.

The Ford took a nose dive in just 2 years. Try your luck with the Tahoe.
That's one thing I'm worried about, if I get another F150, I might just get new issues.

@@TheCopCar only at the shop. You should always buy your own parts and have them install if you cant. Always saves hundreds from the markups..
with your driving I would definitely get a factory extended warranty assuming it is free repairs and not some deductible, you pay out of pocket and hope they pay later crap
I don't play the deductible / pay me back later games, that's just a fancy way to hold my money... and I don't like those games.
The car market is nuts right now. Everything is way overpriced. Hold off until spring and hopefully the supply chain issues somewhat rebound. But on the other hand you could get a good price for your truck trade in.
You aren't kidding - normally I wouldn't buy anything right now with the car market all messed up, but I can't afford the time loss associated with regular electrical issues on a relatively new vehicle.
@@TheCopCar Totally see your point. I’d say trade it on a new Explorer with 3 liter twin turbo over a Tahoe. I drive 1k miles a week for work and currently using a 4Runner but really miss the Explorer. Best of luck on finding something, definitely should get a good price on your truck.
Tahoe is what I'd go with. But then I'm a little biased, I was raised on Chevy trucks. The Crown Vic I have now is my first Ford. Love the car, but I'd still go with a Chevy for a truck.

Now if by base model you mean a V6 F150 100 percent the Tahoe would be my choice to be honest unless it's a Raptor or King Ranch kinda spec'd F150 I'd go Tahoe. Plus for me I have no use for a Truck bed so if you need the bed maybe consider a Silverado over the Tahoe but. If your looking at a Tahoe maybe condsider and Expedition or Explorer ST but thats just my take.
I could make either one work for the application - there's benefits to both. Guess we'll see what the most recent "charging system" issue is... if it's just a dying battery, I'll keep what I've got, but if it's the alternator again... I'm probably going to swap out the truck.
Allen, go for the Tahoe. It rides better than a Ford 150.

Well to be honest if your looking at getting rid of the F150 and going with a Tahoe. Why not go with the Silverado or Sierra instead. It has the same engine same transmission and has better visibility than the Tahoe. However with the chip shortage going on at GM you might have to wait awhile for either. So might not be a bad idea to go with the new body style F150. I test drove the old 2015 to 2020 body style and the new body style. I gotta say the difference is night and day. The new F150 rides way better and the transmission is much better than the previous generation. To me the F150 is much better than the Silverado. I'm actually looking at building a F150 with the new powerboost hybrid engine. However this is my opinion on the matter.

@@TheCopCar I stopped watching TV except for sports. So, much of my "free" time is watching car vids on RUclips. Appreciate your vids. Even if they are only a few minutes long. Always excited ton see you've uploaded something. I know so much of our time is spent with work, family, and I'm sure the little free time you get you like to watch vids like me too. Its not easy at ALL to be producing content. I'll keep wishing for more. Even just basic updates, yard work, garage hanging out/answering questions/cleaning. Respect.
