Just gonna add a few extra info points: - He was 14 for most of the season, he just turned 15 between the 4th and 5th WW events, so less than a month ago - The overhead reset in the middle of a combo is a staple of his gameplay I'd say - His main training partner, Craime (which you see in one of the WW tournament GFs against Blaz), just turned 13 and he's qualified in winners side for the regional finals (I think 4th place in points overall so 3rd seed), so this record of youngest player qualified COULD potentially be broken sooner than people expect - I'm surprised you said Chile and Argentina as Spanish speakers would xD
I think he got flak after pronouncing "Bolado" almost exactly like ""Mulatto" is pronounced in english when he was covering Zangief Bolado's awesome run.
Thanks for this recap. These types of highlights help me get more excited for cpt finals. I only recognized around half of the names last year just because the online events are so numerous. But i'll remember this player now for sure.
This video still seems unreal, I've been a fan for many years and I'm Chilean so seeing local friends in your videos is unreal, also Black Espirts has many young talents, Blaz And Craime are both around the same age (1 year gap iirc) and they have been for the full SF6 period THE GUYS to beat, it has been an amazing game to participate/watch and I'm excited to see how they fair against the international competition
@@Brian_F Craime is 13 years old, he couldn't participate in the previous CPT from 2023 for age reasons, he is qualified for the regional top 8 so he has a chance to qualify to CC as well
Thanks for the video Brian, my 1900mmr friend once played a ft10 vs blaz and he lost 10-0 lol. That kid is a monster. Hopefully we will see Blaz vs EndingWalker in the CC, that would be fantastic. Greetings from Ecuador!!
This is the reason why the regional CPT qualifying is sooo important. Having a "world cup" style CPT instead of a "the best of the best in the world regardless of region" helps with the LONG TERM production of exceptional talent. As a reference, minimum wage in Chile is about $6000 a year and chile is fairly far away from other major hubs (Asia/Europe/USA). People from richer country have an inherit advantage travelling to events. First most events are in richer countries. So it is by far cheaper to travel domestically and internationally. Second the people in richer country make more money. So they can afford to travel more. Third travelling from richer countries to multiple locations is cheaper than travelling from the poorer countries. Anyways, amazing job by Blaz
Great video. A personal opinion of mine is that Capcom made SF6 rather reaction based specfically to be an advantage for younger players in the hope that it would produce new superstars like this. The game has so much that you have to look out for with DI, Drive Rush, whiff punishes etc, that reflexes matter and maybe reduce the gap between years of experience. What is fascinating about the game is that you have Itazan taking home a major at age 43, and then you have a kid like this qualify for Capcom Cup. Amazing that any game can produce something like that!
While I agree with reactions, it has nothing to do with this game. Anything on a high level play is never a major loss because of a random DI reaction that didn’t happen. 100% of high level players are checking raw dr no matter what thier age. This game was made easier due to the fact that you don’t have to have insane conforms to be very good. You can just dr cancel and be safe. IF you are able to confirm a button into let’s a super then you are an an amazing player. There are a couple new kids that can but so so can the older dudes
I really appreciate you doing this for a player from our region. I've had the chance to Blaz evolve from a kid with talent to a genuine threat in every tournament. I'm pretty sure he's going to surprise a lot of people at Capcom Cup. And I do agree with your takes about the World Warrior system. At the moment, the biggest issues for me are the lack of prizes versus commitment and how super regions are selected. To give an example, Brazil and South America East are super regions, while West has only one. Anyways, great video, Brian.
Hope he won't run into any visa issues traveling to Japan. At least it should be less stupid than trying to enter the US. I wanna see this kid at the big show.
It feels like just yesterday when Brian would talk about how old everyone in the FGC is, that fighting games didn't appeal to young people, and that the future of the genre was in jeopardy. Turns out, if you make a good game, gamers of all ages will want to check it out.
Great video as usual, your "esports coverage" style of the FGC news is very interesting and informative even for someone like me who is not that deep into the esports aspect of gaming
Im not really all too familiar with the big names of south america ... But me being from Ecuador can for sure say is gonna be on Blaz side this Capcom cup. Dale duro weon.
El sobrino Blaz es actualmente el mejor del pais y la region, deseamos de todo el corazon que gane para que Brian F no pida que nos quiten el WW en sus videos nunca mas 🤣🤣🤣
I personally want world warrior to always remain, but i also want more offline cpt action. I think regions without premiers should have 1 ww spot guaranteed always. The proposed 2020 cpt format prior to covid is much closer to an ideal version. Hoping in the future we find the right balance of opportunity + coverage so strong players from all over the world get opportunities, but also we have the engagement and exposure for audiences to care.
@@Brian_F I am strongly opposed to the points system for two reasons: 1-Visa issues: many places in the world face difficulties with travel, or the process is extremely costly for participants. 2-The geographical distribution of offline premier events heavily favors players living in certain areas (especially the USA). It’s much better to keep it worldwide (WW) and redistribute the offline premier events, giving to the winner's or 1st and 2nd place the spot to capcom cup. If, for some reason, a player feels that a region is weak and they don't deserve the spot, they should travel and compete.
There would still be world warrior spots. I don't even mind removing world warrior spots for regions with premiers. I'm not sure what you're even disagreeing with here, it sounds like we're saying almost the same thing. At the end of the day I thinknthe current format is failing the players because it's failing the audiance. If the audiance doesn't care, then the cpt failed. I'm trying to help by recapping stories on my platform, but i have major concerns about the lack of coverage of build up of the players from around the world.
@@younghou what if they had like 3 offline majors with lots of points for top 8 in south america (and other regions that can't travel like us + all the usual north hemisphere spots)? That would be much to pair with world warrior than regional online premieres, big offline tournaments with international competition before Capcom Cup is much better than another guaranteed spot
@@Brian_FI think you could even create more spots for CC, giving you space for having the WW and points coexist (and not making the tournaments not have all the money on the very top)

With the old CPT point system, we probably wouldn't have heard of this kid. this kinda reminds me of the story of MKLeo. A young prodigy who destroys his local scene with a wide array of characters like Marth, MK, Cloud and whatnot. Then gets a win on Mr R, a big player at the time. With that, the community helps him travel to the US so Leo can compete there. Seems like Blaz is at that stage where his qualification for Capcom Cup will give him an opportunity to face against international players and show himself to the world. Super excited to see how it all turns out
I was kind of surprised when I heard it congrats to Blaz but he might not the only 15 year old to qualify as Lugabo from Mexico might qualify as well If he wins his regional final in November as he’s locked the number one seed in his region
