She is so young and talented. Beautiful too. I discovered here thru BTS when she sung Spring Day in Immortal Songs.
I discovered her via BTS but differently. A YT channel talked about BTS and how they incorporate Korean music in their songs. For examples of the origins they used several samples of traditional music, among which Song So Hee. They didn’t say her name but in the comments a lot of people were asking about her and who she was. In about 10 seconds she made a real impression.

Well, at least BTS is responsible for one good thing, bringing folks to Song So-hee. 2/3rds of BTS' music is just junk, IMHO. The other 3rd is fair to actually good. I know, most of you disagree. So what? People are different, and have different tastes. It's not a crime. Song So-hee is Always Wonderful when she sings. She is the Misora Hibari of Korea, and if you don't know Misora Hibari, that's about as great a compliment as I can pay any popular singer.

It's classic but she sings Korean with a jazzy crispy strong vocals ! Amazingly captivating
Pansori more likely, even it might be a little similar with jazzy. I feel that she sticks with traditional vocal technique in this performance .
I came here to evaluate her version after loving Sohyang's one on Immortal Songs episode 187. Sohee won that episode with her "Boatman's Song", but to her benefit she credited Sohyangs version "more than 100 times better" than her own. She has all the potentials to become massive. Mastering sweet, humble, skilful, sensitive, grounded at her age are extremely rare. Her last arrangment/performance on Immortal Songs 368 of "Tearful Dooman River" is extraordinary, an Immortal performance where she is crying for the whole nation.

@@donmoxie6745 Not so incredible, really. I'm a 73 year old American that listens to everything Asian, except POP. I don't do American TV either, Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese, not American. Some Spanish and British, German, but not anything like the Bridgerton series, full on junk IMHO. Sadly, I think Korean TV is picking up on some American bad habits, Squid Games, for example. Another full on piece of junk. Mr. Sunshine, My Mister, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, The Glory. Those shows are incredibly good, masterclass quality. Back on point, Song So Hee really is a wonder of the world. I think she will leave a mark on Korea exactly as Hibari Misora did on Japan, or Teresa Teng did on Taiwan. I thank you, S. Korea, for the wonderfully entertaining moments you have given me re the arts. had to fix some typo's....don't want to let people think I'm senile at 73....

Watching the whole Arirang special was incredible, so many fabulous artists singing the various versions of Arirang. ruclips.net/video/vXVwekhWne0/видео.html I highly recommend watching the whole episode to get context for Song Sohee's arrangement. It was really fascinating learning about the history of the song and various arrangements.
This episode is also where Ko Yeongyeol heard her and decided he wanted to work with her- so they got an opportunity to do

Why does arirang sung differently like so hyang
Different versions. There's like 60 versions of arirang. This is gangwon-do arirang (probably from gangwon-do). So Hyang sung arirang alone.
Shirubame did she alter this version considerably for the performance? the slower parts I haven't heard in traditional recordings.
