Lol what painting company just starting goes into phase 2. Lol it's always the owner doing everything constantly never letting go of the reins haha
You're right, if the owner can't "let go of the reins" & trust their team, then they'll never get to phase 2. That's why we 100% preach having systems in place when bringing on your team - that way you bring the right people on at the right time + you have the right training systems in place so you can trust them.
Hi, I’ve been a painter and decorator for 10 years, I’m not as experienced in wallpapering due to not many jobs coming up with wallpaper after passing college. I’ve been wanting to start a business for a few years now but I’m not sure where to even start, should I keep my current job and build it up on the weekends getting before and after images for a Facebook page or should I just quit my job and risk it all?
Keep your current job while work on your business in your free time .

Hey! We are struggling to bid big exterior jobs. Would the formulas be the same for larger apartment buildings as they are for a single family home?
You’re talking about commercial repaints. Margins should be bid lower. So you could use the same formulas and then knock off 15-20% and you would be in the ballpark.
But I would caution going after big jobs if you don’t know what you’re doing on them. A big job gone wrong can bankrupt a company.
So how do you explain to homeowner whose these ppl in their house and your not the one painting it?
How do you explain to homeowners whos the subs that are their home when its not the guy they hired please explain?
They’re my guys. They represent my company when doing jobs for my company. They don’t have any other company names on any vehicle or hats or shirts Etc.. if a customer asks me directly, I tell them we use subcontractors, they’re my guys. Have worked with me a king time. Do they have a concern? And try to address the actual concern (maybe a worry I’m just handing this job off to another company) which is not really what we are doing here. These are very personal and real relationships we have with our crews just like if they were employees

I'm tired of the corporate game. I'm 47. I started painting with a company but they're kinda shady. Am I to old to start a painting business? I can cut corners without tape and know how to mud pretty good son i don't have to sand a bunch.
You are 100% not too old to start a business. But if you do start this business, I wouldn’t recommend doing all of the painting yourself! Maybe at the very beginning. But you quickly want to start hiring others
