Don't quit yet. Do it smart. Get some clients booked 2+ months from your planed quit date. Pretend bussy schedule. When you have them. Book some 1 month after your quit date. And then 2 weeks from your quit date. If you have holidays book a client before you put papers for quitting. See how it goes. Only when you have the set up quit. If someone cancels try to move the clients forward saying there is a spot available...

I work as Environmental Services Manager on several of the 83 Longterm cares and retirement homes our company own. We just got approved for some renos, painting, etc. On most of our Sites and I can tell you that Commercial is no joke. Just for painting 25 rooms on one of our sites is about $117,000 sweet Canadian. I can do those rooms for $60K all day but I can't coz conflict of interest. Now I'm thinking to register business, get all the permits so I can start bidding to other Homes. I used to do small time home renovations and its a lot of work compared to just focusing on painting. I'd want to target commercial properties than residential. Residential clients usually haggle a lot and sometimes hard to please while Commercial Businesses just either accept your quote or pick another contractor.

One story single home ranging around $250k- $350k. Should I stay here and try to open my business here? Or should I be looking more for the Audis, Mercedes, Land Rover, Lexus owners?
Yea of course. But obviously our program only makes sense for you once you’re 100% sure you want to start a company. We help a lot of people start from ground zero
Personal taxes you just handle at year end and it’s based on total income. State taxes or sales tax depends o Your state and it goes on top and then comes right off the top
I’m not sure what those are. In some areas you will need a license but it varies state to state… and sometimes even in different counties within a state. That info is usually pretty easy to find by searxhing

If your not the one doing the actual work than why do you need insurance and workers compensation and all that good stuff ? Also there's no way you could that for 200 these days a dba is 50 bucks at least I paid 700 for my llc alone then insurance on top of that is 200 a month alone not to mention flyers a website materials blah blah blah I mean ur going to need at least 2 grand and pray that you get some income within the first month this has been my experience maybe its different in different states but NY is brutal

It's just market economics. Some people will be charging even higher than that. But that's the price point that larger companies HAVE to do to afford all of their expenses and overhead. It's not uncommon at all. This pricing puts us in the ballpark with most of the other large competitors. And again, it's necessary to have those margins to build a healthy and profitable business.
Building a team gives you freedom, doing it yourself gives you a job. Plus it’s a lot more income with a team. I don’t know where you came ip with the numbers or assumption that you make the same profit in both cases. So you do it to make more money and create more freedom.
