I have had floating stool for as long as I can remember. I am 5’8” & 129 lbs. Don’t drink. 95% of my diet is whole foods & I was just diagnosed with fatty liver thru IGF -1 & IGF binding protein-3 labs. Thankful for my new functional. I do much better with farm fresh eggs, grass fed & finished tallow to cook with, grass fed & finished ground meat & rybeyes. Salads such as romaine lettuce or tomato salads. No more foods with any chemicals. I eat two meals unless I am absolutely starving. Poop is now sinking all of a sudden. Perfect in shape. I am so hopeful now
I'm 32/female/underweight & unhealthy ( skinny fat with inflammation ) - Within 2 days of going gluten/dairy free on keto, I saw my stool sink. First time in 16 years. It ALWAYS floated and I always checked.
This video is helpfull, Sometime i have Floating Stool and now i know what the causes are. Thanks so much. But sometime i have very bad stinky stool and i have no idea what i have that?
This makes me think. Am I consuming too much fiber? I eat a lot of leafy greens and often experience bloating and gas after. You have me paying more attention.
Fiber isn't itself the issue - but Fiber becomes the issue when you are pairing it with a diet that has ultra processed / maybe dairy / maybe gluten. I always had floating stools everyday for past 16 years ( I'm 32, underweight but unhealthy ). Went dairy and gluten free on a keto diet. First time in life I saw my stool sink ( 2 days on keto ) and I am still consuming fiber - just none of the processed food / sugary / gluten / dairy
@@ElectricBlanket1122I am completely Paleo. My diet also has no gluten processed anything. Zero refined sugar. I eat organically. The little meat I do eat is grassfed or pasture raised, etc.
Dr Eric Burg talks about this - He says when the gut becomes damaged it finds it hard to tolerate ANY fiber. Even th good fiber ( not grains ) it sees as enemy. He suggests going atleast 3 days FIber Free - and then reintroducing fiber for 3 days and see if you feel better or worse. If issues re-occur after introducing fiber again, I would suggest completely laying off it so your gut can heal FULLY first. Dr Eric makes good point to try FERMENTED foods ( saurkraut/kimchi) to add fiber in without gut throwing a tantrum. Fermented items increase microbiome diversity. Once your gut is healed, slowly introduce fiber ( leafy veg ) back into your diet ( there's a specific way to do so, read Dr Will Bulsiewicz' book on how to introduce fiber, recipes and all, into your diet when gut has issues with fiber ) The book I'm talking about is Fibre Fuelled Cookbook. Try Will's method of adding Fiber back in after your gut has significantly healed from laying completely off fiber. You need the fiber. But there's a process to follow to make your gut friendly with it again. For now do the 3 day trial - based on that cut fiber out completely - Wait few months - reintroduce through Will's method. @@jannellmeagher638
I know she's a doctor but tbh a lot of medical information is unreliable. Fiber is a very common issue for digestive health, and mine didn't start improving until I transitioned to a more keto/paleo diet which leaning more toward low fiber. It's not perfect (thus why I am here), but the change is drastic and shocking. I went from constant constipation and not going for every 7-10 days, painful and bloody stools to effortlessly pooping daily and no blood.
Hi I have been noticing floating stool for last 10 days and was verymuch worried about it . Your detailed video explained it very well . And I got the answer, its VitaminD intake . Thank you for sharing
I've been wegovy for 6 months seems like its causing my problems hard small stool some which flots but not all the time just got off wegovy will see if anything changes .wish u was in my neck of woods i would different see u here in e.tennessee
I have the same issue, but mine seems to be brought on by consuming too many sugary drinks/foods or foods that are high in fat. I also have IBS, which may contribute.
It is the opposite for me. When I eat unhealthy and my stomach bothers me they sink. When I eat healthy organic whole foods, with lots of fiber, eating mostly plants, I am regular and feel no bloat, and they float. I'm in my 60s and I've been this way since I was a child. I have no gallbladder. it was removed about 20 years ago. However, about 40 years ago I was diagnosed with mal-absorbsion and many veggies come out looking undigested. This includes green leafy veggies, berries, peas, watermelon, and mushrooms.
I have avocado oil every day plus flaxseed capsules 2000 mg and found that is the cause of my floating stool so the oil in your stool will make your poop float no worries that’s a healthy diet

@4:34 you say sometimes we may need a little support to digest these nutrients. May I ask what support you are referring to? Taking digestive enzyme supplements?
hey, i was under madication of overractive bladder and i comleted my 1 month dose but it's been 3 days i feel like to go for washroom, but i can control the urge, also have floaty stool. does medication effect even after dose is completed ?
I have been taking Vitamin D and Krill Oil for the past 8 months. Im very healthy and have a pretty good diet. My stool has always floated and never thought it was an issue. Think i will run it past my doctor just to be sure.
This can happen if the dose it very high. 5000IU's is not extremely high, but you could be more sensitive to it. As well the oils that are in your current vitamin D could be causing an issue. Ex. *soybean oil
Take D3 10,000 K2 Plus avocado oil, 2 tablespoons a day and two 2000 mg of flaxseed oil! Will cause stool to float! But a healthy diet! Never had fast food! And eat one meal a day!

Floating stool caused by fats is a malabsorption of fat. If your stool is sinking with the carnivore diet, you are absorbing and metabolizing your fats correctly.
If you added in a lot of green leafy vegetables fast, this can happen. The body needs to adapt to an increase in fiber. You may want to consider reducing the fiber content and add more slowly.

Could be from not digesting your fats well.

I have the same issue, but mine seems to be brought on by consuming too many sugary drinks/foods or foods that are high in fat. I also have IBS, which may contribute.
Recognizing the factors that cause the floating stool is step #1
It is the opposite for me. When I eat unhealthy and my stomach bothers me they sink. When I eat healthy organic whole foods, with lots of fiber, eating mostly plants, I am regular and feel no bloat, and they float. I'm in my 60s and I've been this way since I was a child. You may want to try a digestive enzyme to support your digestion and with no gallbladder. This will help with bloat and malabsorption.
I think my love of olive oil might be my problem. Feeling great by the way!

Yes, it can. It may take a week or two for your gut to readjust.
I have been taking Vitamin D and Krill Oil for the past 8 months. Im very healthy and have a pretty good diet. My stool has always floated and never thought it was an issue. Think i will run it past my doctor just to be sure.
If you diet is healthy and you will feel well, the floating stool may be caused a high fiber diet.
Can the Keto Diet cause floating stool?
It is possible if you are unable to digest the fats properly.
I also don't have my gallbladder, could that along with the keto diet cause floating stools?@@OswaldDigestiveClinic
First reason in my case. Carnivore diet. No other problems. Thank you.
They only started floating after I started eating healthier. 🙄
Your gut was likely having a hard time digesting the extra fiber and possibly good fats. Introduce things slowly so the gut can catch up.
Same high fat good fats are the key 60 to 70 calorie intake.
Im overweight 6 foot 3 230 pounds and have flowtinf stools with no other symptoms is this normal? Or vause becauee im ovwrweihjt
No it is not normal. It can be due to high sugar/high fat foods.
I add MCT Oil to my smoothies

It rarely happens to me but only if I eat a lot of fiber and fat....
Thank you for sharing! Excess fat, may be supported with digestive enzymes.
Would fasting cure these issues?
Fasting can give time for the gut to calm and repair. But you may need some support for your gut in the way of digestive enzymes.
When I ate the American standard diet stool floated. When I eat vegetarian my stool floated. Now that I eat carnivore extremely high fat they sink

Fiber, Pro and probiotics for me, doesn't float wihout taking those things. A good #2 🪨 never floats. 👍
Probiotics make it float?
My turds sink and sometimes they are pencil thin and my turds only float when they look like rabbit turds.
Be sure you are drinking plenty of water min ~64oz/day and more if you live in a hot climate or drink caffeine.
