let me just say, you saved my life. So many "experts" and "screen printing gurus" on the net danced around this, didn't get to the point and recommended some super spenny software. You got straight to it, thank you so, so much!
Concise and to the point. Excellent pacing. Iconic. Every time I go through this process I always watch somebody do it on RUclips and your video honestly was so quick and easy. I really appreciate it. Thank you.
This was brilliant! Thank you! Before stumbling on this video I had spent hours watching long complicated videos, which I didn't get all the way through because it was either too much or not enough details. I guess I just needed a sister woman to explain it.😊 This was short and right to the point, and you explained it perfectly! Thank you!
I’ll tell you what you got a subscriber here!! Been wanting to do this with my designs for the longest and all the videos i looked up didn’t easily explain like you did! Thank you look forward to working with CMYK
Quite an old video, but the clearest and most straightforward explanation I’ve found. Deserves many more views. Particularly liked the use of PS Essentials. Thanks very much.
Thanks coach you made my day. I am very new to this and this helped me alot to get the job done. But my actual image and expected image turned out very different. But anyways I am happy for the start up
Gimp has a filter called Newsprint (filter->distorts->newsprint) and it can split all the colors, but only to a single layer so you need to magic wand select each color and create seperate layers
Hi. So this example would use 4 screens right? What if I have an image that’s only blues and whites. Is there any way to reduce the number of screens I’d use in that instance. Do I still need the 4 separations? Thanks for the amazing tutorial by the way!
When actually doing the final screen print in this case, will the bottom most layer be black (as in the one printed first) or the top most (the one printed last)? Or will it not make a difference at all due to the angling of the dots?
How did you come up with those angle numbers? Super cooool cause when I used different or more standard angles, the colors didn't match as well! You are awesome!! Thank you
Hi , when printing, do you print wet on wet, or wait to dry, and what is your preferred colour brand, line? Ive hear many different ways to do it, water based, water based thinned out, acryl thinned with translucence, wet on wet.. absolutely marvellous video!
Hi, I usually wait for each layer to dry. I use system 3 acrylic paints mixed with system 3 printing medium. It’s really important that you let the layers fully dry, some printmakers leave a day in between each layer, so the ink is fully settled into the paper. I don’t believe this is 100% necessary, but it’s personal choice. Also make sure to use a heavy duty, smooth surface paper. A high gsm paper will ensure the least amount of paper stretching when printing and smooth surface means the texture of the paper won’t interfere with the fine halftones. Hope that helps 😊
Just wondered if I did a colour halftone in photoshop from the filter/piixelate menu, would it be the same as halftoning individually in greyscale as you are doing here ?
Hi, usually if you use the halftone filter, if you zoom in to the dots there will still be grey tones. So it won’t expose on a silk screen properly. But if you just want the halftone effect then using the filter is fine 😊
Great tutorial however when I print my halftone image to a pdf and zoom in there are ghost pixels but when I zoom out they disappear again they are very translucent and I don't know if it will show up on a transparency any thoughts?
Hi there, I'm preparing an illustration with a transparent background for client and when I go through the process it completely messes it up. Is there a particular path for this case? Thanks! The video is great but would greatly appreciate your advice.
Hi! My printer is asking not only for this but also to have each color as a layer on the file. I've managed to figure out how to convert the channels into layers, but once I do that and color overlay each layer with its respective cmyk color, my artwork doesn't look accurate at all. Do you have any tips for this situation?
After converting the channels to bitmap photoshop isn’t letting me copy and paste into a new document. The layers are locked. Any ideas for what I should do?
Hi there. What are your print settings? when I try to print individual channels it prints the full color image even if I turn off the other channels. Or do I have to save as individual files for every color?
Thank you for the video, I was following every step but for some reason it doesn't let me copy and paste the bitmap images into the final document. Any advice for that? Thanks!
i'm having trouble, each time i paste it back to my new doc in cmyk. it doesnt paste in the same postion. it paste all over my canvs. i tried moving them but each time i move it , the color stains the channel.

So well explained from a to z… most other tutorials I’ve found have been incomplete.
Thanks you! ❤

I can not thank you enough seriously I've watched so much tutorials on this but yours was by far the best and most easiest to understand🔥 ❤
This is the only video I could find that explains this process and you did it perfectly! Thanks
Nice video short and sweet and straight to the point thank you so much!

You are the only video that laid this out perfectly could never get this down with any other videos on YT Thank you!!
Really clear and concise. Thanks so much.
This is great, best tutorial I've come across for CMYK
Great video. This will really help me with my screen printing. Thanks again
Nice video. Do you need to add registration marks to align the images when screen printing? Also, what order do you print the different colors?
I'm surprised you didn't zoom in close at the end to show us the 4 colors of halftone dots! I was waiting to see that.
Great video, straight to the point, didn't fall asleep 🔥
Thanks so much I really needed this explained in a clearer way as a first timer for printing
Fascinating tutorial. Did u purposefully leave out registration marks? Also I’d love to watch you screen print that image and see how it looks.
Thanks, I did add registration marks to this but forgot to include that part in the video :)

I was pulling my hair trying to sort this. Even chat got couldn’t help lol. Thanks for your help.

Hi, at the 6:00 mark, how did you undue the grey scale image... I use Windows. Thanks for your help
Hey, ‘Ctrl + z’ should work for windows 😊
How do you register this to a screen?

@indie illo Hi how do you put registration marks On All Layers?
After converting the channels to bitmap photoshop isn’t letting me copy and paste into a new document. The layers are locked. Any ideas for what I should do?
Switch them back to grayscale and you should be able to unlock the layers
Thank you sooo much! 🥰
Are there any new technologies and RGB to CMYK?
Do you ever turn up your image dpi to say 720 or 1080?
Hi there. What are your print settings? when I try to print individual channels it prints the full color image even if I turn off the other channels. Or do I have to save as individual files for every color?
Hi, oh I’ve never had that issue before. Yeah I’d say it’s best to save them as separate files and then print them
thanks, VERY helpful! 🙂
Thank you for the video, I was following every step but for some reason it doesn't let me copy and paste the bitmap images into the final document. Any advice for that? Thanks!
Is the layer locked?
@@indieillo same, can't copy....
Change the image mode back to grayscale ( & you may need to unlock the layer by clicking the padlock) and it should allow you to copy
@@indieillo I'm having the same problem. I can copy but it won't let me paste.
I have a similar problem, I can copy but when I paste nothing appears, only the selection box without the image
Hey thanks for the video, when I go to print this they all came out printed looking the same?
Are you switching the layers off and on?

Have you tried centre aligning them rather than moving them manually?

Wasting time.. Don't include the original design for the layers of cmyk.
