It is unfortunate that the mount is too small to fit over a normal junction box that was used by the existing outdoor light fixture I was replacing. I was able to hack something together, but it certainly is not as “sleek” against the wall at all. If only there was an option for a larger mount - one that could cover the almost 4 inch wide opening that was behind the old exterior light fixture that I removed to install the Eve Outdoor Camera.
I used a couple of cover plates into which I drilled a hole for the wires (that had to be to the side so it could go through the hole in the Eve mount) - hopefully these two links to the photos I took will work and will be helpful. Thinking back, using a plastic version rather than the metal plates might have been simpler to drill through. share.icloud.com/photos/05e5r16OUjsuRDKdDZgjb-kEg share.icloud.com/photos/0d2UrKpNTa1TZl6V05b_WChPQ
I’ve had nothing but trouble connecting it to HomeKit. I’ve set up the 2.4ghz network and made sure the HomeKit hubs are all on the 2.4 network and it still says Accessory Cannot be Found. This is incredibly frustrating.
I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with adding Eve Outdoor Cam to your home. Please report to www.evehome.com/en/support/ticket and let the support team know about your network setup (which routers and/or repeaters are used, does it use DHCP, is it a class c network etc.).
Exactly the same. I moved a WiFi extender to my garage to see if that would help to no avail. Luckily Eve support has been helpful in exchanging my device.
Yes it does. So if you turn off the power the camera and the flood light will be offline. If you would like to switch the flood light on and off separately and manually you'd need a HomeKit compatible smart switch (www.apple.com/home-app/accessories/#section-switches ).
Is Homekit even a viable platform at this point? I'd really love to support the platform but there are really only two options for outdoor cameras and they're both mediocre. I have 2 Logitech Circle cameras that work 80% of the time and miss motion triggers daily. This Eve camera is nice, but the non-standard mount is unfortunate.
Great video about a great cam! But.....the spotlight keeps burning 24 hours a day. Even when the settings say "only with movement" and just for 2 minutes. Puting the light of manualy works, but after a couple of minutes it switches on again. No help from the importer :-(
Please delete any automations related to the flood light created by Apple Home (e.g. during the installation process). Instead, please use the settings in the Eve app to a) set the motion light to only turn on at night and b) reduce the sensitivity of the motion sensor to avoid false alarms.
Or Eve could have just answered the bloody question. The canned "contact tech support" just lost you a sale. To answer the question, you need a HomeKit hub- an Apple TV, HomePod or HomePod mini to act as a "gateway" of sorts. This will allow you to access your cameras and other HomeKit-compatible accessories away from your home securely and easily using Apple's Home app on your iOS device or the Eve app. (To the author of this question, I mean no ill will or snark towards you at all, this is a very good question, one that you'd think Eve could have simply answered). See how easy that was Eve? 🙄

Extreme bad experience with the warranty of eve product, they make me pay for the return of a eve light switch that fail in order to have it replaced….
4:50 I love how you stopped music for the protective film peel 😅👌 nice tutorial! I installed mine with no hiccups 😊
Love that all the network gear is Unifi. There’s a proper setup!
I noticed that too :D
Why does this not come with a mounting solution that will fit on a standard 4" US junction box?
Late reply but they do now

Can it be ceiling mounted?
In order to prevent water from leaking and/or accumulating in the housing it can only be wall mounted.

Does this unit need constant power? If so, what happens when I turn the light switch off?

@@MeetEvecouldn’t you just register the floodlight as a separate device under HomeKit and then control it separately through that?
Camera and floodlight are indeed separate (see screenshot at 5:18) but they use the same power supply.

why are they so expensive? seriously...
My guess is that it's a quality unit but also targeted at Apple customers who are used to overpaying for nice things.

@@larsfelber I did only use the settings in the eve app? I havent made anything yet in apple's home?

Weird mount. Also, stop expecting us to buy repeaters. It's called *PoE.*
What’s Poe?
@@thebeststeffever8 It allows you to power devices with an ethernet cable.
This is one of the most poorly designed mounting systems I’ve ever seen.

Yep. They only pay for return shipping if you bought it from the Eve store. No good.
