You missed sinking people who were unluckily caught by the kraken in the early years.
speak for yourself. this company is being boycotted.
I had my ferrymans blunderbuss pointed directly at a Playstation swabbys face and was about to pull the trigger when i heard him say "whoooooa look at this guys shotgun" and i just couldn't bring myself to do it.
His awe and wonder reminded me of when i was new to the seas, i hope hes enjoying the game as much as we do.
Wholesome interactions are sometimes better than hostile.
I had something similar when the obsidian set was rare.
I invited them to the discord I am on and they are now great friends to sloop around with.
"wow I can almost see right down the barrel"
@@DynoSkrimisherthey’re ALWAYS better than hostile
My dad (60) has been playing since beta and has thousands of hours, maxed out factions (including reapers) and and was 12th in the world in terms of gold count once a couple years back. I have many fond memories of running around trying to learn the game (and failing) as a teenager and im happy to see a new audience getting to enjoy this game lile we did.
(Now he plays drg, maxed several of his miners and still kicks absolute ass. If you read this dad, because i know you watch falcore too, love ya)
Drg is great too. Your dad has very good taste in games. Love it!
New pirates always look at the world with such aw that I miss for myself.
Fr, I miss when I would sail and not expect to see everything. Megalodons were exciting and challenging, other players were terrifying, and island were new and explore-able. I miss that.
I remember the feeling when I first started
Yes. These are the words I always look for. I’ve told my buddies I started playing with years ago that the game is still fun but it has NEVER felt the same as that first month or so. Waiting to get home every night to experience the pirate game once more. Surreal. And never to return
I’m in that state right now as a PS5er
Xbox players got a new world to explore with the DR. I wouldn't be surprised if within a year the fabled "ICE ZONE" makes an appearance.
I always love to see new people experiencing this game. I love stealing and sinking other ships but when i see new players i board them, talk to them, ask if they need any help to give them the best experience possible. My goal is to keep those new players playing the game c:
It’s so funny to me when I’m sinking a ship and the new players yell at me like I’m not a new player myself. YOU ARE ON NONCROSSPLAY SERVERS. I cannot cheat. We cannot exploit the game like the funny launch. I simply enjoy the game more than you that I’m willing to put the time in to learn the mechanics to get better at pvp
That's how my crew formed. Our sloop got boarded by a much more experienced brig crew who were more interested in a laugh and we played along instead of getting pissy. They were hilarious though, that helped. Sailed with those boys for a couple years after that, got to see Glitterbeard...great times,
In 200+ hrs I've had 5 wholesome interactions with older players.
After people have fixed my boat I've been spawn camped relentlessly while never fighting back and never speaking. Ive been attacked and chased on sight more times than I can count. I have been crap talked over and over while killing me. I have been sunk on a fresh spawn into game numerous times.
The experience hasnt been fun.
On PS5 servers on the other hand I have had a great time. Wholsome interactions with older players who play ps5 now snd are very helpful. I have been attacked a few times by older players on ps5 but nowhere near the amount of times on crossplay servers.
I'm and old dog and I played in CoD lobbies in my mid 20s. I played caleco vision. Im old but the level of immaturity and disrespectfulness of kids and people in general is outstanding these days. SMH!
@@djirate052380 sorry to hear that. when we came across crews like that we'd sink them. hopefully you find more decent people.
Im a new player with a brig crew and we’re all new and this guy who played since launch and had all the curses and shit boarded us saying how he was gonna help us. But then after like 10 minutes of sailing with us he started calling us morons for missing harpoon shots and not luring the ashen boss correctly? And in the end we were gonna sell our loot and he tried to kill us but we one shot him with a blunderbuss lol
Yesterday I met a 2 player brig crew. Had to explain the allience system to them. Felt refreshing.
Newbie PS5 player here and can confirm, absolutely loving this game rn. Honestly just sailing around and watching the sun set/rise over the seas keeps me happy. Well until a level 5 reaper ship appears and sinks us for the loot that we just sold at the outpost we are docked at. There are some good people out there though, run into a fair few vets that, for the most part, are happy to chat share supplies or in 1 instance help us run a fort and let us keep the loot. Fun game!!
that's the good stuff
im also new on ps5. Having a great time but i must say that i havent met a single friendly player until now. Everyone attacking even tho i tell that we have no loot and are new. They just sink us, spam emotes and shout slurs. Weird community.
Just got the game last week been playing everyday! New favorite for sure
Little tip man if you sea someone flying the rainbow flag do not engage they're worse than the reapers
@@potatogod8115 real
@@potatogod8115 not really I got one friend that puts it up because he thinks it’s funny and he’s bad at the game. I never put it up. I’ve got many times the playtime that he does.
@@IEatBurntBricks Not everyone follows the same stereotype. Can tell you from experience that rainbow flags are the bane of my existence, even Moreso than Reaper's Emissary Level 5 sometimes.
@@L0tss I’ve got like 800 hr and I don’t think I’ve ever had to be scared of a rainbow flag.
As a new ps5 who has been gaming since the original atari and nintendo. This has been added to my favorite games of all time list.
It does just about everything right imo.
It feels like the game to end the console wars in my opinion.
the injection of PS5 players also made the game much more enjoyable, as a casual veteran
there's a much lower percentage of hyper-aggressive crews, but at the same time a higher occurrence of weird sub-optimal plays that make things more interesting and less predictable.
Like last weekend we had a crew come after us and drop a cannon rowboat to start shooting at us mid fight. It's been well over a year since I've seen someone do something like that instead of the tired chainshot-and-board routine.
This is exactly what I've been enjoying too.
As a PS5 player I can honestly say I'm loving the game, it's so fun! I've been grinding the game so much that I have hit pirate legend
Veteran players like myself should implement the following rule:
Never shoot first
I already follow this rule simply because I feel the old "shoot on sight" mentality has made too many players paranoid and toxic. At least these days, those actively searching for PvP have the hourglass as an option instead.
@@BaronVonMott it happend yesterday again. White sailed sloop came at me. Warned him before he was in range to not pick a fight he Cant win. Well.. he sank
I myself am a New player, started a few days ago, and I think you just described the feeling I have.
Everything is like a New Adventure full of fun.
I think hourglass is also important for the new player experience because a large chunk of the most skilled pirates are no longer in the open world. Between safer seas and HG your encounters will be closer to average skill
I feel so strongly about this wonderful game. It combines all the elements of my childhood in one game.
So....playing with fire, excess drinking, and throwing puke on each other. Sounds about right. :)
Back in the day, before really getting to grips with the ways and means of solo slooping, I would often venture into the perilous abyss of Open Crew to find some shipmates. Many times I found only disappointment and rejection, but once or twice I struck gold - brand new players eager to get to grips with the game. Teaching a new pirate how to select voyages, how to sail the ship, how the progression systems work... It's a wonderful experience (if they have the patience to listen, of course), and it feels like you're helping the game as a whole to grow and thrive!
I started the game 2021 and is became my main game really fast. It is the ultimate pirate game and even as a veteran now I sometimes just randomly hop into a tall tale to replay it
We played Fortnite a lot, but SoT completely took over 🏴☠️
The content and optimization updates coupled with the new playstation players was a breath of fresh air, especially cause a few crewmates of mine can now play the game again without crashing around portals and diving mechanics (as often), and if they do crash they can get back in faster now. Its wonderful to have my crew back together again, and even more joyous that we have newer players to interact with and not just getting our faces kicked in cause we've all gotten rusty from taking a long break from the game lol.
I always love your way of pushing for positivity and calling us on our bullshit. Keep it up man!
I really hope someday they add a racing mode. The game already has great mechanics to have a faction for it, and it would be super fun to have pvp that isnt combat related.
This is actually a pretty interesting idea
Yeah hopefully not add side events that Interfere with gameplay.
Example the kraken that randomly spawns on you?
Like the game isn’t annoying with its exploits, broken missions, and non-responsive hit boxes.
I enjoy your content!!(:
I just don’t enjoy this poor excuse for a finalized product that is practically unfixable and unfinished.
I’ll come back when everything IS FIXED and not in the current state…..
unbelievable..
Look I do not want to argue with all of the pea bodies of the world I don’t have time for them…
I do have time to help people out with any game I have access to so it’s easier to play and understand since most games have NO guidance and most of the time you have to actually learn how to play the game solely using broken exploits, glitches and broken mechanics.
I have a simple question, who adds fortnite mechanic to a “realistic” game.
This isn't Fortnite my guy
This is what I wanted private servers for. A bunch of friends on sloops racing across the map, purple cannon balls and ramming only.
@@StevensonMD I like those ideas! Hopefully we can see more and Rare will see some.
I was making my own guide for new players that had literally everything I knew about the game in it. I intended to release it on launch day for PS5, but got it half done and have been sitting on it. I should finish it but there are hundreds of guides out there.
For reference some of the things it covered were: the what the trading companies are, what emissaries are, each weapon type, how much damage they do and how long each gun takes to reload as well as what weapon combo to use for what scenario, what world events are and how to efficiently complete them, the standard strategy for sinking other ships (chain the mast, death spiral, send boarders to keep them distracted,) what are doubloons and how do I get them? What’s pirate legend? What’s this hourglass doing on my ship? What are crew roles and why should I care? What are the pros and cons of each ship type? Are there benefits to solo slooping? What’s captaincy? Should I rush progression? Do cosmetics indicate skill and what cosmetics should I be wary of out on the sea? And a little more
you should have continued the post like.. "but i forgot that it is all about the players and the more they find out themselves, the more fun the game gets."
Player interaction is definitely the best and most important part of this game no matter how much new content they add. I would even argue there is too much content now. It has been good seeing Playstation crews sailing around howling with laughter at the smallest in game things, I remember those days!
Around the time the game released on ps5 my friend got it on xbox and she is HOOKED. I am a 900+ hour veteran and have seen pretty much everything this game has to offer, so being the Virgil to her Dante in this new era has been some of the most fun I've had with the game. It really made me take a step back and appreciate everything this game has to offer. She enjoys the Tall Tales, the fishing, just exploring islands, voyages, all the calm PvE like you would expect a new player to, but most of all, she is feral in PvP.
It used to feel like you were firmly in two camps, either a PvE or a PvP player, but now it feels like these new players are doing both, as Rare intended. I'm currently teaching her all I know about PvP in between fishing runs and field trips to sunken shrines. The game has never felt more organic. Plus these new crews are so full of piss and vinegar, I haven't had one person run from a fight since season 12 started.
As corny as it sounds, I shed a tear reading the comments of the new players expressing their excitement upon joining us on the Sea of Thieves. That kind of wonder and excitement is something that I miss being a vet. I hope you all enjoy the game and hope to see you out on the seas! If you see a trash themed ship out there, say hello in any way you can, be it cannon balls or emotes! Happy sailing!
I wish I could go back and experience the same feeling that I did when I first played on Sea of Thieves. The excitement, the mystery, the adventure.
I think Rare made a fantastic choice to give us new weapons and tools at the same time we get the new influx of players. We may be vets (well I only started in season 9) but it creates a temporarily level playing field!
as a new player, who has have the game in 4 weeks, i can say i understand the basics + a few advanced stuff, a newer player can have fun if they watch enouth time, and patiense
When it first came out, I didn't play it much since I didn't have friends to play it with, I've recently met friends who have it though, and so I recently started playing again, it's been awhile since I last played, so for me, it is borderline the same experience that the new PS5 players have
even though i stopped playing quite some time ago i still come back for your content, salute matey o7
After putting almost 200 hours already into the game on ps5 I can say that this is one of the best games I’ve ever played. grinding hourglass has been a blast and is the absolute BEST way to learn pvp. There is almost no negatives to losing and you WILL get better. Also joining the discord is a good way to learn the pve fast but beware that finding competent team mates that can hold their own is a chore especially on ps5
Thanks for making this video!
Now it feels weird, I used to play with my so called "best friend/brother" until he totally changed and and don't play with me anymore and prefer to hang out and play with his new friends I find it sad we had so much good times on this ship, recently I really hoped that it was getting better until I saw that he did me dirty again and prefered playing with his new friends rather than with me. I just find it sad and I don't know why such a sudden change but that's how life goes I guess I'll just keep the legacy of our ship alone. I wish y'all a happy sailing, especially all the new players coming !
That sucks.
😢
I'll play with you homie ❤
If you need a fellow Pirate Legend to sail the seas I am here! Names Xantapp! Or ZatsuneNimbus im on pc and ps5!
Give me your PSN we can play 💪🏽
People change. My youngest son used to come river fishing with me, which we loved. Now, he has zero interest. He plays on his PC or PS5 all day instead. I'll always be sad about that.
im getting my poly partners into the game and im so happy safer seas exists, they are having so so much fun and its an absolute blast teaching the ways of the pirate life
@CaptainFalcore, they will never experience the Bobblehead in the sky though. How we miss him...
this season got me back into sot . haven’t played since early 2020 and i have to say looking back , i used to log in and empty all the barrels at the outpost and load into the next server to do the same all over again because i ran out of talltales to complete and having something cool and hard to unlock . don’t get me wrong, i loved arena and i am no sweat but there was no fun anymore for me . new season and all the challenges that stacked while i missed gave me a reason to get back and try again the only game that i like , i think . good video Captain ! as always ! ❤
As a veteran player myself, I love that new players are getting to experience this amazingly crafted game with fresh eyes. I wish I could do it all over again.
Great video! As a veteran player I was so happy to see the expansion to PS5 and bring in newer players. More players means more money for Rare and more content! I played season 1 and 2 then some of 5 I think and it was that same old boring game then, I took a break and came back around season 7 or 8 and wow! What a difference as you mentioned, ships, harpoon, emissary, and more. Game is fun now and pretty much the only game I play anymore!
it’s really fun man and a lot of veteran players iv been in games with have given lots of help
It is so good to see new pirates out on the waves and old pirates returning once more to our pirate paradise
I really enjoy interacting with new players. It reminds me how far I myself have come in the game. I always remind pirates who run, or who lose to me (when I can tell they are new or upset) that I once also got my bones handed to me, picked clean by the blade of those far above me. But there's a certain mindset I developed when playing SoT: You are going to get rolled a LOT before you yourself get rolling, and so far it hasn't failed me yet!
This video made mě cry at the end. Great speech Falcore. Yo ho see you all on the seas 🙂.
im basicly like the new players bc i played the game with some friends like 2 years ago and i was just the one who stayed on the ship bc i was bad and watched it. this made me not rly wanna play again. but now ive started playing with some friends who are also new and we having so much fun.( also safer seas is good. but it does give new players the ilusion of thinking high seas is pvp only and only for if your feeling risky even tho its the main and proper game. you can see this in most mmo's where players usualy stay in safe zones where they keep there look and only go into pvp zones in rare ocasions.)
My brother just got it on PS5 and I have had a blast showing him the ropes and watching him experience the world of sea of thieves. Totally agree with this video
You always make awesome videos but this one hit different and I thank you for reminding me of why I play. thanks for being flipping awesome...that last animation sequence was amazing as well - hadn't seen that one.
Been playing 6 years...meeting new players still gives me the feels. I cant help but have fun and help them out in any way; even if they try to kill me sometimes XD
good stuff my dude
They will learn my name, Falcore. That's how the old salts live the pirate life. Infamy.
I am sure the name tater milk will become known and feared across the seas
? i personally am already afraid@@bobertastic6541
@@bobertastic6541 yes, that is the joke. Congratulations.
Fear tater milk for he will make the seas shiver in fear!
I played at launch and was turned away. Came back and it's a blast. Nothing like putting around in your slupe and get into a threeway ship fight with a skely and gally. Then fight a kracken win and then fight a Meg only to die to a small rock we didn't see
I've been playing since they added the Ashen Winds bosses and this game has never been a chore for me. The water is beautiful, I can't get enough satisfaction from sinking players or skeleton ships. I enjoy this game through and through.
I love your view. Spending your free time having fun, that's what it's all about.
I’m that veteran that played from the original bet up to a few years. Paused for about 3-4 years. But started back in PS5.
Dude, yesterday my buddy and I were sailing around aimlessly for hours and we decided to get grogged up and I started cooking food before we parked the ship to do a fortress. Came back still a little woozy and the ship was on fire!!! We were laughing so hard at the fact that I got piss drunk and nearly burnt the ship down that we could barely breathe. Amazing game!!!
I started playing in 2020, I am always nice to people unless they pick a fight
I love this.
That’s why I try to help out new swabbies.
I started around January 2019 and had been playing quite a bit. But I quit for a while because I felt solo slooping usually ended up in a lot of toxic moments that made me dislike the game for a while and hadn't realised some of my friends were actually still playing the game.. Anyhow, I think the last time I played before my break was when the Pirates of the Caribbean tall tale had just come out. Seeing the announcement of Safer Seas made me come back last November and there was so much new stuff for me to explore and lots of quality of life updates compared to when I stopped playing. I'm really enjoying being back into the game and I've noticed more veterans are coming back and are quite excited about all the new things as well! I'm really exited for the upcoming seasons, especially the Flameheart ship
The ability to play the game with new eyes and new experiences is something i envy also. When youve been to every nook and cranny, sailed every square on the map, been to every island, been to every depth, fought on every ship, fought bigger and smaller threats than yourself, it drains you of that wonder and mesmerising world building. Its one of the reasons why I think the game needs a map reset. New islands, new characters, new lore, new story, new landmarks, balancing that could allow for multiple world events perhaps (i.e. a fleet spawn location that allows for other world events to spawn elsewhere so anyone can trigger a fleet by going to the one part of the map or something, just an idea but probably not a good one). It'd give that feeling back to the older players that we miss dearly, and be something to bring newer players in aswell!
As a new player I literally love this game. I haven’t touched any other games sense an looking at 200 hours an haven’t even done shit yet haha appreciate all you seasoned player for the tips and tricks to a new solo slooper!
I've been playing the game practically since launch and I too am a bit jelly of the new people playing the game on PS5. So many things to play with and to them I say you are gonna have a Megalodon of a time! Thank you Falcore for always being so upbeat and positive about this fantastic game and all it stands for. I love Sea of Thieves, always have fun with it and I will never tire of it despite any negativity towards it.
This is why i always join the players who are up to voyages in DC. Helping them out and stuff.
I love seeing and meeting all the new pirates out there , one of the best things they did was add it on PlayStation
I have been showing new pirates some secrets hidden throughout the game world. And it's been quite fun to see the reaction.
I’m new to the game and I LOVE it!! I had no idea how much content was added and I’m loving playing this with friends. FYI, I’m an Xbox guy. 😂
I knew about SOT and tried it once. I found it boring back then and the learning curve was very steep for this game. My brother finally convinced me to give it another go and wow! I love this game, I’m even spending money to buy skins. Not a common thing for me.
That feeling when you got pirate legend. And saw the hideout for the first time. And seeing other peoples reaction.
Even as a vet I purchased SoT again on ps5 mainly cause I have more friends on ps5 and I want them to experience this game and have fun with them again like we did back in the day to get that fun feeling back. Thanks for this vid falcore
I've always tried to be helpful and protect new players. If they have the time to enjoy and learn the game and have good interactions they will stay and increase the longevity of the game. Had a baby pirate the other day we helped. He never said a word the whole time until he was done and he said "thanks for not sinking the newbie" and left the game. That speaks volumes for the reputation of the game. If you help a new pirate in time they may give you the best fights or in the case of one of my crewmates still be sailing with you after almost 5 years.
New player here. Bought the game along couple friends. Imo, learning all the new mechanics and how to properly pvp is an essential part of the game. It's just so rewarding to improve in this game. Getting wrecked by experienced players is actually a compelling force to get better. The game's been a blast so far.
Unfortunately some people don’t want to grow like you do, they turn to alliance servers and are toxic to people who want to pvp. Keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll enjoy the game much more than them❤
6:40 The most epic speech i've ever seen!🏴☠
Captain Falcore, I really liked this video! I subscribed too!
I think its cool that its now on a different console. good for the game!
Love this game!
Much love
this game is one of those games that is infinitly for fun when playing with friends
May the seas be nice and the wind in your sails everyone
awesome Video @Captain Falcore
This reminds me of something that happened the first day Ps5 players were online. I spawned at an outpost, headed down and equipped the throwing knives, was just practicing aiming them when a brig rolled up. I assumed they were gonna sink me but I didn’t care because I didn’t have anything. It ends up being a PS5 crew, one walks up to me holding and Athena and goes “hey I can’t figure out where to sell this can you help me out?” And I swear it was like an angel and devil on my shoulder. On one hand I could blast him in the face for a free Athena, but the angel won out because I want those players in the game. I showed them to the tavern and they went on their way.
I cannot put into words how much fun im having with SoT on ps5, everything feels done so right from the visuals to the audio to the vibe of the game itself. Ive waited sooo long to be able to play it, and im so happy im finally a captain!
(Also probably am having so much fun because i turned crossplay off hahaha)
I always see the world with such awe. And I take advantage of every mechanic I can to make the game fun. Not being a bouncing bunny that With a gun. Not someone That sees a new mechanic and forgets about it(seaforts). That's all I wanna someone who complains about the bugs. I play it like an adventure that I can create.
I can be bad at the game and have fun.
Because that's the pirate's life for me.
The times I’ve met new players I’ve always tried to help them or protect them from other ships. One time in possibility I met new players flying the reapers and I helped them with their pvp and we met some other crews and had a laugh watching someone get utterly rared
I’m a new player with my husband and friend and we are having a blast! We were trolled a bit at the start as newbz so we went to safer seas and it’s been much better, I just hope Rare expand the safer seas and remove the limits on loot, rep and captaincy, I want it all but without the trolling.
I want the arena back 😢 it was better than hourglass
I miss the feeling of first setting sail, 2000 hours in the game and i often remember the crewmates i had that moved on. those are the only real moments that made the game fun.
I absolutely love the PS5 update, I used to play on Xbox one, but had trouble loading, and most of my irl friends had a PS5 so I could only tell them about this amazing pirate game I'm playing. Now that it's on PS5 I instandly convinced them to buy it, upgraded myself and man it feels good to play this with people I know irl, were a much better team than I've ever had, we do the most random stuff I can imagine and I'm finally actually winning pvp combat and gittin' gud because of them. They love the game, I've found new love for it by doing the things I've always shied away from
Good vid! 10/10
I had a galleon full of swabbies attack me on my solo guilded quest yesterday, tried to be friendly at first cause I’m not looking to ruin a new players experience but they proceeded to try and sink me, ended up crashing into an island and I sunk them in a couple of minutes
Hmm I played this game before it came out and half of the stuff you mentioned I remember always being in the game, maybe I'm just crazy though
Well said, Mr Falcore.
Ah, yes. Player Interaction. Or, as I call it, "Being shot first, being asked questions never." :)
9/10 shots, you can‘t forget it 😭😭
Whenever I run into new players I stop what I’m doing and try to help and coach them to get better, like doing sea forts for some easy money and melee experience, or doing phantom fleets for some ship v ship practice
Its true! Ps5 player here and I am freaking loving SoT! Trying desperately to win at least 1 ship battle and making my friends play this with me
The arena was crazy
Tucked around a duo brig, set fire to bananas, jammed them on an island, they were on their second day and pissing themselves as they hunted suspicious barrels and shadows behind the quest table.
Nice analysis
I took a break from SoT for about 2 months now, but not because it got boring, but because of limited time to play. However, last season felt like a drought in players so that kind of put me off as well. Now I am getting back the hype and love I always carry for this game and can't wait to experience something new! I hope you all have wind in your sails and clash your swords with fearsome pirates! : )
I've picked up on the new player energy quite a lot this month. The PS5 players DO seem quite happy. I'm a vet, but I don't fight too well, and I'm solo, so I'm always friendly to the new folk.
For years people in the forums have crusaded against a PvE mode because it would "kill the game" as if having a shallow pool kills swimming or something. Most people want to play the multiplayer PvPvE part, they just don't want to get pushed into the deep end without instructions, and those that do not want to do PvPvE would''ve never played it in the first place so it's not like we are loosing players, if anything we are gaining players because we offer a safe space for them to test stuff out.
Also doing tall tales without gettin accosted is kinda nice, it's not like you get money on them anyway.
they should have some sort of thing that shows a new player, like a flag that goes away after 100 hours that is forced to fly so you can spare the swabbies
This is the most true thing ever
ps5 player here, always wanted to play SoT since it launched and finally I am, and I'm having a blast!
Theb is probably questioning himself after watching this video 🤣.
