Just wow. Yes, probably faster than Schubert intended. Normally, too fast equates to rushing, and a loss of consistent timing, parts of the passage faster than others that should be in the same time. But there is no rushing here, for Kissin it is a comfortable speed. The touch is there too. Rubinstein is wonderful, just different. Kissin is right at the limit of acceptable 'emoting' for me, but Rubinstein is class.
Kissin is a very organic romantic pianist! Everything soft, softer and somewhat over -sensitive! His style is deeply rooted in Russian artistic style, typical for literature, music, theatre and even painting. The nation for centuries deprived of simple dignity, was able to protect itself with excessive sensitivity, romantic feelings and love for beautiful things. Yet his compatriots: Richter, Gilels, Sokolov, Yudina do not fall in that cathegory. Their style is much stronger, yet still sensitive. Their Bach, Beethoven, Brahms and Schubert sound rebellious, philosophically deep and universally understandable with not a hint of over-sensitivity, even in Schumann or Chopin.
Superb interpretation. It is not faster. It is the right speed for a so passionate, but equilibrate execution. The clarity of phrasing is so impressive.
A little faster than the usual tempo but he plays with unmatched emotion and even though the tempo is not my preference for this piece this performance is still amazing
When Evgeny was very young, he played a concert with Liszt's "Waldesrauschen" as an encore, and could be seen running his hands thru his coiffure towards the end of the piece at the point at which there is a challenging run in the right hand. It appeared as if he may have been showing off a bit in this gesture. Other performances have been more emotional, but that one was played with less concern to the feeling of the piece. The mechanical reproduction of piano music I agree is worthy of derision and criticism and is not often the case with Evgeny Kissin.
Benjammin' Yes that may be true but listen him play Liszt trascendental etudes in my opinion he plays No.8 and 10 better than anyone else, tons of emotion and spirit.
"It appeared as if he may have been showing off a bit in this gesture". Another pretentious pedantic schmuck coming in hot with the carefully googled fancy words and pointless overanalyzing.
I honestly enjoy the faster speed at which he played. Seems good to me, although technically this piece wasn't meant to be this fast, I like what he had done.
6/29/1974 recital program Steinway Concert Hall (teacher Yolanda Jacobson) lists my twin brother Stewart playing this. I didn't get to go. Don't know if he played the whole thing. Great to FINALLY experience it (here) Stew died 6/18/1994, wish we'd talked about this performance and his later judged audition
In my humble opinion, this is a phenomenal interpretation of this impromptu. Even though I find the tempo a bit fast, he plays with such incredible emotion, clarity and musicality that I think I can easily get used to the speed. Kissin is an amazing pianist at the pinnacle of his career. If you like this impromptu, try Horowitz and Rubinstein interpretations. They are surely not to be missed!
What incredible concentration and study he has had for so many years to be able to play these pieces and give them to us. Without them, what would life be like? They are our heaven on earth. What has he given us? His heart, his soul, his spirit, every single dimension in his being, even his very life. I feel such gratitude to him. Very little in this life can compare to what he gives so we can experience this heavenly music.
Wow.....So wonderful and hard to say but, it feels like water drops in the window...so clean and beautiful! Thank you for the great art.
Beautiful music composed by Schubert. Fantastic performance by Kissin. Every note is fine tuned.
@Hayden Kane Cool

Zimmermans is slower with more musical expression I find.

Great beautiful performance,TYSM ♫♪
Kissin is a "piano machine," churning out the finest music.

Kissin may be an emotional pianist, but he doesn't tend to show it. He is perfection!!

Awesome! Genius at the next level.
Very beautiful!
Loved this performance! I’m inspired to learn this piece again. Kissin is phenomenal.
Soooo beautiful!
So fantastic played!

Excellent !
Mon impromptu préféré de tous les impromptus
quite marvelous.
Don’t think I’ve ever heard Kissin use the soft pedal before, wish he’d use it more often as he nails it in the middle section.
increible la mejor que he visto te amo kissin

Lovely allegretto tempo!
Alimento pra alma!!

The return of ole baby hands!!! Bravo stubs!!!
Wow hard to believe that Schubert did a cover of the theme to the Three Bean Salad podcast a full 200 years before its first episode!

I love you.😍진짜 너무 완벽하심!
2:05-4:57 one of the most wonderfull pianoparts ever written in this universe ?
I could not agree more. Part of the soundtrack of the movie "Portrait of a Lady" by Jane Campion.
@@tigeroutsider1111 thats also a good version of the impromptu in that movie, thanks, do you know who plays it ?
@@aldo2708 in the movie the Impromptu n.4 is played by Jean-Yves Thibaudet.

Just Kissin so beauty!
Cada um tem um estilo. Kissin me agrada sempre!

SO GOOOOOOOOD AAAAAAAAAAA

To fast ??? For me this is the perfect tempo
I am agree. Dislike to all people who think the tempo is too fast.
I am speed
You may think it's fast or slow, but Schubert marked the tempo "Allegretto" - this is almost presto...
I agree too
The tempo is allegrotto so there is no sense
He must play it fast
None above Rubinstein and Pires for this piece...
Horowitz

Fast but pretty good
Lol all these people are saying he’s playing too fast as if the world is going to end because of him
No, they're just saying he's playing it too fast. He is! It is gorgeous though and he still makes it work which is all that matters!
Mr. Kissin I’m so sorry for all the troubles in your beloved Russia, please know we are praying for you and all the helpers of this situation. :(
Thank you! We also pray for your country and worry about your problems.

this impromptu no 4 sounds by Brendel and Zimmerman a lot better
Today, my piano teacher said that "this is the next work". So, I searched here ;;; I am curious @_@ How can I do this? She is overrating me.
It’s not that hard actually, most of the song is repeated
Yes but if your mess up one note then everyone can hear it and your performance is then ruined
