Truth is that Indus Water Treaty is heavily tilted in favour of India with India having stopped 100% warer to Pakistan it could have. Add to it the fact that all 4 garbage streams of India is also to be maintained by lower state Pakistan tilldate. Now to expose the truth about 80% water given to Pakistan.... Geographic location of three rivers given to Pakistan is such that even if India wills it cannot divert the water to other parts of India as it is economically impractical in terms of costs. 60 km diversion to lay underground pipes costs $6 billion making it impractical to divert. As per agreement India can use/stop upto 12% of water practically from 3 rivers given to Pakistan but till date India could not use even 3% of same as humanly given geographic location of slopes the water there can neither be diverted but must go to Pakistan else will flood. Initially in 1953 negotiations started with Pakistan demanding 70% of water of Beas Ravi and Sutlej as given the geographical location the other 3 rivers water would automatically be flowing to Pakistan. However after strong lobbying and years of negotiations 100% of these 3 rivers water have been kept with India Itself. There are a lot more things that are in favour of India. The agreement does not talk of ground water but only running water. Further sedimentation...also no obligation pertaining to pollution etc. As per agreement India is free to divert and use water on 3 rivers of Pakistan for generating electricity at will. 2017 court of Arbitration settled this in our favour. So please understand India has not lost any water to Pakistan. So question of giving 80% does not arise. Also Indus water Treaty is silent on Bhakra Nangal and also no agreement on then East Pakistan river sharing...trust me India marketed this hype as 80:20 to get everything in its favour as even if the agreement was to be scrapped the water goung to Pakistan still cannot be diverted by India as it will be economically biggest blunder in history. Be happy. Also ample water. Ground Water level tends to go down and come back. Water level in India in 2020 was recorded to be same as in 1920. 1 degree increase in temperature cause around 6 degree moisture in air and increase 7% precipitation so water will always be ther it is us who need to be responsible and keep our rivers clean and start transport through water as opposed to road to significantly reduce carbon emissions. Truth is that Indus Water Treaty is heavily tilted in favour of India with India having stopped 100% warer to Pakistan it could have. Add to it the fact that all 4 garbage streams of India is also to be maintained by lower state Pakistan tilldate. Now to expose the truth about 80% water given to Pakistan.... Geographic location of three rivers given to Pakistan is such that even if India wills it cannot divert the water to other parts of India as it is economically impractical in terms of costs. 60 km diversion to lay underground pipes costs $6 billion making it impractical to divert. As per agreement India can use/stop upto 12% of water practically from 3 rivers given to Pakistan but till date India could not use even 3% of same as humanly given geographic location of slopes the water there can neither be diverted but must go to Pakistan else will flood. Initially in 1953 negotiations started with Pakistan demanding 70% of water of Beas Ravi and Sutlej as given the geographical location the other 3 rivers water would automatically be flowing to Pakistan. However after strong lobbying and years of negotiations 100% of these 3 rivers water have been kept with India Itself. There are a lot more things that are in favour of India. The agreement does not talk of ground water but only running water. Further sedimentation...also no obligation pertaining to pollution etc. As per agreement India is free to divert and use water on 3 rivers of Pakistan for generating electricity at will. 2017 court of Arbitration settled this in our favour. So please understand India has not lost any water to Pakistan. So question of giving 80% does not arise. Also Indus water Treaty is silent on Bhakra Nangal and also no agreement on then East Pakistan river sharing...trust me India marketed this hype as 80:20 to get everything in its favour as even if the agreement was to be scrapped the water goung to Pakistan still cannot be diverted by India as it will be economically biggest blunder in history. Be happy. Also ample water. Ground Water level tends to go down and come back. Water level in India in 2020 was recorded to be same as in 1920. 1 degree increase in temperature cause around 6 degree moisture in air and increase 7% precipitation so water will always be ther it is us who need to be responsible and keep our rivers clean and start transport through water as opposed to road to significantly reduce carbon emissions.
