I had never heard of Aaron Tveit until I saw him in Les Misérables and was captivated with his voice, but hearing him now is sensational.

As a lifelong music lover, I am amazed to say that I never came across this Bernstein piece before. I found it quite by accident while casually searching for anything interesting to watch. I now sit here bawling like a baby with goosebumps running up and down my arms. How could I have missed this? What a stunning and emotionally moving piece of work. And as an aside, I love the enthusiasm of the conductor as he sings along with the chorus. Bravo to all the performers and to Maestro Lenny!

He has such a clean voice. It's nice to hear this sung without being oversung.

Realize that this is a musical adaptation of Voltaire’s classic text. The lyrics are as brilliant as the music.

@@Castilda0311 not really - the lyrics were originally by Lilian Hellman. And this particular number was rewritten as various versions of the show tried different endings.

One of the most aspirational moments in musical stage. Gorgeously dressed and wealthy audience there to honor Bernstein…and they didn’t even know when to clap. This kept me from downloading this otherwise wonderful video. God save us from rich ninnies!

How come they don't put those other New York Philharmonic concerts online, from before 2019, and when they, do it says this video is unavailable in your area. Why is this?

Jeez… What a bunch of petty criticisms… Like a pack of hissing Gollums. Beautiful version of Lenny’s talented work. Thank you, maestro. I always put a flower on your grave at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn.
