I love the parallels to the actual myth of Hou Yi from Chinese mythology. Like of course there's the surface level stuff of Hou , the archer who shot down nine of the ten suns, but when you make that connection at the start of the game you assume Yi would be the tenth sol (sun) that remains after killing the other nine. Instead, Yi shoots himself down, allowing the remaining tenth sol (Kuafu) to nurture Humanity just as the tenth sun does in the original myth. Not to mention the fact that the infected primordial root with its tentacles literally looks like a sun, and Yi shoots it with his bow to allow the real sun to shine on the Earth and support Humanity. So goated.
@@murkinupbecause you're too impatient and dumb to realise that a video showing the entire game from beginning to end would obviously have major spoilers in its comment section?
I just realised, Yi was likely made in likeness to Huo Yi, a figure form a legend who shot down 9 suns to save humans from being scorched, leaving only one so that humanity could live This could reference how Yi shot down the sols including himself (Goumang, YanLao, JieQuan, Lady Ethereal, Ji, The Fengs, EiGong and Yi add up to 9, plus the game is literally called nine sols), leaving Kuafu as the final Sol or Sun to take care of the apemen

As long as you have traveled to Asia, you will know that the atmosphere of this game is neither Hong Kong, Japan, nor China, but because of history, Taiwan as a whole is closely related to the above countries. Everything is just so greatly balanced that I can't think of any flaws other than being a bit short in game length. Hollowknight has tons of recognition...And Silksong is one of the most anticipated games and has been for years straight. Literally on the top lists. Metroidvanias are absurdly popular. The reason THIS game isn't getting as much attention is simple, the visuals. It simply doesn't look appealing tbh. Combat seems puddle deep (even though its decent) and the attacks/hits just don't carry a lot of punch and impact. Idk how to better describe it, but compared to hollowknight combat it just feels extremely floaty here especially when WATCHING. Which is important because these days people will watch something before deciding if they'll try it. And if it just doesn't look good, they'll never even try it in the first place regardless of how decent it might be. There also just isn't as much content as hollowknight. Most people finish HK and are usually between 60-70% total completion. Having missed tons of bosses and content along the way. Whereas the achievements on this game, are EXTREMELY high percentage completed. Hollowknight still has a few achievements with under 10-5% even all these years later. The LOWEST percentage achievement in this game is 14%. Which means a casual run is getting A LOT of people 100% completion without much effort. And that's exactly why THIS game specifically just doesn't get as much traction.
I think the opposite honestly. I personally hate the art style and think its a massive reason as to why its not getting as popular as the other games in the same genre. Along with the combat just not really having a lot of impact. At least not from watching it, combat seems pretty hollow compared to Hollowknight. AND it costs $10 more.
Almost all of HKs mechanics and concepts are from things decades older than itself. But if something goes viral and gets popular that becomes the new point of comparison.

I am on my third playthrough right now. This game's replayability is insane. Since the depth of the combat system is deep. You are meant to try different way to pass the same bosses. Take talisman as an example. The auto-explode one is the FOO strategy for first run through, but it is relatively slow and inflexible. It feels great after you master the talisman system in using the other 2. The way to true mastery makes shorter battle and stronger sense of control, which gives me a profound satisfaction that I cannot get on the first playthrough.
it was so interesting to watch you play bc you unbound parry wayyy less than I did. You pretty much only use it if its absolutely undodgable but I used it at every chance I had cause it did internal damage lol
This game is so much fun my personal game of the year combining sekiro and hollow knight is absolutely phenomenal work and also combining comic style cutscenes with normal cutscenes was so good haven't seen a game this creative in a while.
Loved this game from start to finish (even loved the stealth section), truly a masterpiece in artstyle and combat. The story is also one of the best in recent memory.
I tried Hollow Knight many times but the game just didn't click with me, but Nine Sols? Holy shit this game got me hooked from the start and I loved every second of it, one of the best games of 2024
Yea hollow knight is a great game and a common complaint from people is the start feels slow and tedious but it’s worth it, it ramps up right after the first boss. If you love nine souls you’ll love hollow knight you just need a bit of dedication
I Don't know why... But everytime I feel like when I start playing a game, that others weather they're big or not. They then start playing the same game, that I've played... I Started playing Nine Sols not that long ago... And am almost done it. And as soon as I near the finish. All a sudden, people start playing it and I see more and more content coming out. And it makes me happy to see, people are playing games such as Nine Sols. Cause you rarely see anything like this now a days. Only game ppl have been going off on is "Hollow Knight" which everyone has played by now. As for "Nine Sols" or "BO: The Path of the Teal Lotus". Rarely. But am glad ppl are starting to try something new and different.
can someone time stamp where he gets jumpscared by the loop room? I don't want to spoil elements of the game for myself, but I want to see his reaction to that.
Ngl it was pretty annoying to see how he just put off engaging with characters and didn't even know all the aspects of combat till the very end (Transmute talismans). The former is one of the core things that make the game stand out and something you don't see very often in this kind of game... but to each their own I guess.

i was looking at this game yesterday and then youtube autoplayed me here. first off, well played? you picked up on it so fluidly! will promote this to my friends, thanks.
I checked out this game a few days ago when I saw Charlie playing it and man is this game extremely difficult IMO. I started on the standard difficulty but I was struggling waay to much on the early bosses so I switched to the easier difficulty and I still struggled with some of the later bosses. I haven't even been able to beat the last boss yet. I got to the ending two days ago with 100% completion but I struggled so much just to get through the first two phases of the last boss that when the 3rd phase started and I died shortly after that I just stopped for the night but I still haven't gone back to see if I could beat it yet. I know it's not meant to be easy or something you can win on your first try, and usually after taking a break and sleeping on it I end up playing way better so I'm sure I'll finish it but mannnnn I'm on the story mode difficulty and I can probably just scrape by in the fight so I can only imagine how difficult this game is on the standard normal difficulty.
did you change your damage setting? That's what make story mode easier, if you didn't change anything, it might still be quite difficult. Usually playing with story mode shouldn't let you be too frustrated, since you can adjust the rate of damage received/gave.
I bought this game thanks to you. Decided to watch a small portion, watched your fight against lady etheria and decided to play it myself. Just beat her yesterday. Great game.

Eigong is the best 2D boss of all time.
Good take. I like AbsRad but true Eigong is a tier above.
@@M3TH0DICAL7he didn’t even fight abs rad lol, he fought regular rad.
I do think abs rad is harder than eigong atleast in beating it consistently but eigong is significantly better as a boss
I do think sisters of battle and nightmare king are better than eigong though with pure vessel falling short behind

Good to know that despite being set in a Cyberpunk Taoist future, Kojima still managed to realize his dream of the Metal Gear Solid 1 torture scene one way or another
3:57:36 There's the confirmation. The Moist Meter had a good run.
I’m glad to see this game get attention. It deserves it.
literally playing this right now and im so glad your covering it
Just finished the game today, one of the best i’ve played highly recommend to anyone
I played this game when it came out as a demo a year or so back, and it was such a BANGER just from that demo alone
The story is also one of the best in recent memory.
this is my game of the year
I love how Charlie keeps calling the pipe a crack pipe
Holy 4 hour video Batman!
Ya so corny
Thanks
2:12 welp...
The lady ethereal fight was the most fun I have had in a game in a while.
Very impressive Charlie. Now do Level 0 True Eigong.
But seriously, I am so happy this game is getting recognition, it’s phenomenal.
speaking of masterpieces that deserve more attention
PLAY UNTIL THEN
definitely better than wukong
This game reminds me of a playthrough we never got a finish for. Weedshop and I think we need a proper conclusion
3:43:12 phase 3 reaction
Beating the third phase of the final boss in one try is insane worm
I tried Hollow Knight many times but the game just didn't click with me, but Nine Sols? Holy shit this game got me hooked from the start and I loved every second of it, one of the best games of 2024
For hollow knight it usually takes until a certain point when the game clicks and you love it
Yea hollow knight is a great game and a common complaint from people is the start feels slow and tedious but it’s worth it, it ramps up right after the first boss. If you love nine souls you’ll love hollow knight you just need a bit of dedication
@ not even just the first boss I see a lot of people not start loving it until mantis lords and city of tears
@@oXRaptorzXo well yeah I'm just saying the game does pick up after that but it can still be a drag for some
I Don't know why...
Glad to see with a big following enjoying the game, its so good and honestly, we need more speedrunners.
can someone time stamp where he gets jumpscared by the loop room? I don't want to spoil elements of the game for myself, but I want to see his reaction to that.

I got nostalgia for this game before I even finished it
doesn’t follow a hurricane in his state but will keep tabs on diddy
Hope you made it out the “hurricane” ok
"Hope" "you" "made" "it" "out" "of" "the" "hurricane" "ok"
i wonder how youtube is gonna feel about Charlie saying "i need to hit my crack pipe" every five minutes 😂
30 minutes for beating eigong is sick, took me 1h and an half
It actually took him closer to an hour than 30 minutes, like 50-55 minutes, and more than an hour if you also count the prep time
No one ask you
@@Univaryy ok bro.
If you ate a piece of his hair would it give you magical powers ?
loved to see you play this, I hope it wins indie GOTY because it absolutely deserves it!!
23:03 bro, I’m getting PTSD from the tree Sentinel
I bet it will get more attention when/if they release it to console. One of the very few games I’m dying to play that’s not on console.
the fact charlie just didnt realise at all he had an enemy emoblizing talisman
Ngl it was pretty annoying to see how he just put off engaging with characters and didn't even know all the aspects of combat till the very end (Transmute talismans). The former is one of the core things that make the game stand out and something you don't see very often in this kind of game... but to each their own I guess.
I'll have a chance to try out now that it's coming to all platforms
Peak gaming experience
Npc moment
Played this game because Charlie spoke so highly of it. Glad I did, easily the best I've played in a few years.
0:13 just moved to NC from CO, hoping to make it into black mountain. When i got here, Asheville and black mountain flooded as i was elsewhere for the time being. Apparently logan paul sent prime up there to "help", I will hopefully be going up there soon to help.
I cant believe i started playing Nine sols just a few days before charlie and he's having just a good a time as i am.
we aren't sleeping today. thanks charles
No one laugh
@@zeldawrldd At you? Impossible.
i was looking at this game yesterday and then youtube autoplayed me here. first off, well played? you picked up on it so fluidly! will promote this to my friends, thanks.
that being said this game looks like the dead cells equivalent to dark souls idk how i feel about that yet
Great game.
three hour fifty eight minute and thirteen second long video situation is crazy
Perhaps putting the game name in the title and when livestreaming would help
This game is phenomenal, Red Candle Games are always making hits
