- In this video, I will teach you how to play the One Piece Card Game. The One Piece TCG is the latest collectible card game created by Bandai. Popular in Japan, and getting released later this year worldwide, this game lets you battle and create your own crew of popular One Piece characters to hopefully become King of the Pirates.

If you are someone who’s been playing One Piece for awhile, let me know how long you’ve been playing and what’s your favorite part of the game!
battling has probably been my favorite part so far! That and the decision making. When to swing big, when to clear board, when to use abilities. It's complex enough to interest me but easy enough for me to pick up
Picked up a few of the start decks in Japanese to play with friends. I love how back and forth the game feels due to the don system, along with the countering aspect during the battle phase, games tend to get very exciting after a few turns.
When I first heard of the rules for one piece, I thought it was just a simple "attach Don swing big" but then when I actually printed proxy starter decks and played with them I noticed how much recourse management you have to do. It's just so much fun to play
I really enjoy the attention to detail with the character abilities matching up to their manga counterparts. My favorite being Law in OP01 who can swap two cards from the field and hand - just like what he can do in the story.
Since OP-01 and the ability to "bluff" your opp when you leave 2 don open never gets old.
I really like the dual aspect of the Don!! Cards. Being able to use them as resources or to buff your Leader and/or characters is so cool and ofers some really fun decisions.
Seen a lot of videos how to play, this video really helps a lot! Best Tutorial Video! Truly Appreciate.
The way you explain is game and just your presence in general is really awesome 👏
thanks man, ive been trying to figure out these rules for a while and you explained it well.
Very solid explanation of the rules! I'm excited for the Super Pre-Release happening this weekend! Hopefully I can get my hands on a starter deck!
Best tutorial I’ve seen for One Piece TCG. Thanks.
Great tutorial, very well presented! Maybe you can do another tutorial to describe the different effects (like on play, on activate, …) and when they take place!?
thanks this helped a lot, just started playing today!
As someone who's always wanted to get into card games and never taken the leap, now i have as a lover of one piece, this video has been so helpful to help me get round the rules, thanks so much
game will be dead in a year save your time and money
@@Schwarzwald316 this is going to age well....
@@jamesgraves9858 I'm thinking about getting into it. Is it dead/dying
@@user-ip8vf2ky9p I don't know if it's dying or dead. It really depends how other card games push the people away from their own. Like, if Pokémon keeps on making mistakes it'll inevitably push people to other TCGs
Gameplay really feels like a mix of MTG and Pokemon ! Like it
Oh, WOAH. I didn't expect it would be that complex. Maybe because I never played any card game before. It looks so much fun. My head hurt....
Super helpful thank you!
Thanks for the video! Now I can teach my kid and nephew without going back and forth on the rule books 😅 subbed 👍👍
It's a nice blend of Digimon and DBS in terms of mechanics.
I like it a lot!
Much better than the official instructional video. Thank you!
the way this plays heavily reminds me of cardfight vanguard, kinda loving that
I LOOOOVED Vanguard. I won a few local tournaments.
love to see more how to play out there for others to learn. I do think u missed 1 or 2 small bits that prob should have been mentioned but great video otherwise. for example: when going over the counter step your framing of it made it sound like you could just use an event card with counter without paying it's cost. I know you explained event cards earlier but just a quick line reminding ppl of event card costs should prob have been included there. But regardless great video.
This is literally the clarification I was looking for when I came to this video. THANK YOU!
Very helpful. Thank you. Now I will force all my friends to play with me.
Thanks for sharing about the tutorial apps!
I really want to play the game, but my friends and I can’t find the starter decks atm (at least not at retail price). I didn’t know the apps existed, so my friends and I are all gonna mess around in them to get familiar with the game
For some reason, Target stores are the only retail locations I've found physical copies of these cards!! And at great prices!!! $4.19 per booster pack, $11.99 per starter deck.
This is my show man 😎
😲😲 I’m thinking about collecting these
So seeing how this card game I've taken a LOT of interest in features similar concepts from Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, and even Pokemon, I think I'll sell some of my only TCG stuff, Magic, and make room for this! Besides, I kinda dropped the ball on MTG now. I already own a Kaidou starter deck plus one booster box of Romance Dawn. Getting excited!!! SUPER!!
Thanks Steven! Your video helped me out a lot and I won my super pre-release!!!
Stevens hair be lookin straight outta OP
as someone who is just gearing up to get into this in the UK this was super helpful thanks. Question I have, I've been seeing a number of leader cards like Kid, who have an affect which places them as active. My question is what is the difference between a leader card being active or in rest? Seeing as a leader can be attacked even in active mode, does it matter whether a leader is set to active? If so what does thi enable or prevent if anything? Thanks again
I love that a lot of this game works like Kaijudo TCG. Makes me miss that game less. OP TCG is great
I really hope this game become big in the west because this game looks fun.
I love this TCG, it's really fun!
Do you have to pay the cost in the upper left hand corner for a card if you are just using it for the counter effect. The rules didn't seem so but I feel like I've seen event cards that are just counter effects so I don't know why you wouldn't have to pay for them?
In the counter step, for example, if i want to use Guard Point (event card, with counter effect) I'd play with Don cost?
This is a great combo of digimon, FaB, and MTG!! I definitely am intrigued by this game!!!
This game is sick. Won my pre release today.
Thank you for this video. Can't wait for this weekend for super pre
I really liked playing the older Game. I wonder why they had to make another one and not just continue the other one.
I am a magic player and the wording for counter cards gives me one hangup. “…during this battle”. So that means literally that single fight between those two characters correct? Even if they do untap shenanigans and attack with the same character against my same character I’d have to do another counter card to pump my defense correct? I see on guard point it mentions in its trigger to give it until end of turn rather than battle but it’s one of those things that every video or tutorial or anything never shows that critical thing I want to confirm by attacking a second time on a character that got pumped previously.
Quick question. If we were to counter with an event card how do we pay its cost? Like it's not my turn but I counter with a gaurd point. Like how do I pay for that gaurd point??
What is the ruling for whitebeard with trigger, as he doesn’t take damage getting attacked but adds a card from your life to your hand at eot, would he trigger a card with trigger of it was added to your hand with his ability or no
What sleeves can you use for them for a deck? Dragon sleeves
yea i like this game but,i have the japanese version of these cards,so i cannot read them, but they're pretty good for some other things, like a flex.
If i have 5 character on the field can i still use event cards or did i need to trash one char?
If I have a card that is pay don x1 and turns it into a blocker do I have to add that x1 on my main phase or can I use x1 on my defense phase, also if I do use x1 does it go back to my don hand on refresh phase?
Can you redirect a block from a character that is rested to an active blocking ability character?
i have a ruling question.... If i attach a don to a character on my turn and then on my opponents turn i reveal a trigger effect to stand rested don can i remove don from characters to make them active during my opponents turn?
I'm a bit confused about the trigger effects of event cards. I've seen some people taking life damage, reveal a trigger event card and doing the effect. While keeping the card in the hand. I also saw some that are trashing the card after the effect resolution.
What is right? Keeping in hand or trash after the trigger effect?
If you activate the trigger, you don't add it to your hand. The OPCG comprehensive rules states "[Trigger] is a keyword effect that, on taking damage when there is a card in
your Life area with [Trigger], allows you to reveal that card and activate its [Trigger], instead of adding the card to your hand."
Trigger got me for a while too, now I'm stuck after seeing people 'bouncing' cards into their hand after reaching 5 field characters
Are these cards the same TCG that was released around 2003/2004? Or is this a whole new system?
You explained it to where half way thru i understood how to play
If you have placed for example 3 dons on purple Kaido Leader, is it possible to use this don‘s to activate his -7 don effekt ??
Can activate a characters main effect if it’s rests the character, the turn it’s played ?
I'm gonna try to get into this. I quit yugioh after 5ds. If I wanna play yugioh then I'll play tag force 5 since we never got tag force 6.
Kinda wondering of when sleeving them, do the DON cards need to be a separate sleeve color
I think you can put the same sleeves for your main deck, leader & your don deck, just dont forget dont shuffle your don deck with your main deck
In the DON -X, does it matter if the DON is rested or not?
If you use a trigger effect, do you still add the card to your hand after? Or if you trigger and event is it discarded after?
should have been discarded right after we use the effect
Can stage cards be deleted by the enemy? Or are they unkillable?
I might have missed it but do Event and Stage cards require characters or Leaders of the same color to be in play, sorta like Digimon?
Yes, event and stage cards must match at least one color of the Leader card.
I have a question about don!! cards. When I add one don!! card to the character's card that says don!! x 1 ability, does that mean the card gets an extra 1000 power and gets that ability at the same time or just that ability?
Or I have to add one don!! card for an extra 1000 power and one more don!! card for ability? Please explain how it works?
I'm thinking about selling all my yugioh cards and getting into this
No, just play both.
@@LuckyJay817 yugioh is trash tho lmao (coming from a former player)
@@joyboyblues5808 why ?
@@LuckyJay817 very simple, its not fun.
@@joyboyblues5808 I like how this guy answering for other people Yugioh actually takes skill and thinking
Can you do this explanation video fir Dragonball card game? Or did you already, if so please link
If a trigger is activated, does the trigger card go to the trash after its effect?
Long story short it follows the same gameplay mechanic as Dragon Ball Z card game but with a twits in its recourse management. Its not bad but I'm not very motivated to play it especially since we are getting Battle Spirit real soon.
What's going to happen when I attack with all my characters together? Is missing attack phase clean explaining
me and my brother bought a starter deck and played yesterday. he was luffy i was playing kid. i attacked his leader 6 times on turn 5. By throwing away a blocker and several cards from his hand as counters he blocked i think 2 attacks. he had no chance of ever winning the game lol its feels like you have no way of defending yourself because most characters are not blockers so anyone can just walk in and hit your life points and don doesnt remain active when its not your turn so he could do a single big attack then not pay for any counters where as it would cost me only 1 don to reactivaite a character and atack again for a 6000 base damage cahracter who only cost 5 don initially to play the turn before. or 3 don for my leader to attack again. also ontop of those 3 attacks Laws abbility to reactiviate a character again and go in for another attack :/ its fun but the rules need a little work imo
Maybe a little late to the party but i was wondering what happens if i give my opp -2000 dp and they go under 0 (-1000), if they stay on the field if i attack with a character with 0 dp does it kill it ?
If I use Don to activate a cards ability, do I get the buff from the Don as well?
What is the number rule like if i have 4 zoros that cost 4 don can i not have any other cards that cost 4 don?
You didn't mention to use counter effect from the characters you need to use your DON for it
Does your main deck Don deck and captain all need to be 8n different sleeves ???
Doesn’t have to be but having your Don be different color sleeves makes it easier to separate the deck for match preparation. I do not know the competitive rules however. For example, in magic the gathering the deck all has to be in the same sleeve but since Don do not go in your main deck, it seems like they can be the same color/kind of sleeve or a different one and it wouldn’t make any difference
question. Lets say you have 5 characters attach all but two don and attack with those characters. I use the remaining two don to replace one of the characters and that replaced character goes to the trash. Now what happens to the dons that were on that trashed character? do the go to the cost area as rested?
It is my understanding any don attached to a character that is removed goes back to the don area rested. Don used to power up a character is “spent” in a way.
@@kingkitthe2nd Got it. I thought that it stayed on the field until the "refresh phase" but that would make sense. otherwise the new character looks like it would have attached don but it was already used. like a rush Sanji where you attach two and it gained rush. Thanks!
Looks like a combination of pokemon tcg and magic the gathering (w/ commander)
If your charter card is Ko with a Don card attached to it what happens to the don card?
I've never been a fan of this anime but while I was looking at the cards I think the game will be popular.
Do you need to jailbreak your iPhone for this?
If a character has don 2 for an ability. When you attach 2 don to that character does it only get the ability or does it get both the ability and the 2000 from the don?
Both
Is there a limit on how many Don you can put on a card
Can't wait for them to remake the shaman king TCG
I don’t think they are going to make a shaman king tcg since they have a collaboration with Cardfight Vanguard
It wouldn’t be beneficial for them to there just simply isn’t enough fans, demon hunter mightvhave a shot
Art
Do cards with don lose the +1000 during enemy phase?
Hopefully he can help haha..I just like how the card looks😅
I can't focus a little bit because the digimon plushie on the shelf.
I like one piece it's cool I'm kid in malaysia
so basically it is like magic and pokemon right ?
The tutorial app is so beautifull, Bandai its too slow to update that app to a simulator like a fan did.
This needs to be online, im no where close to locals😭😭
The app has bugs. I had 10 don and played the 9 Don Kaido card that's supposed to get rush when discarding Don but nothing happened.
Wait but don’t you only get one dawn card in each pack, that sounds expensive
Does it mean Dawn?
Do you think One Piece will ever get its own mobile/app card game that's fully playable like MTG Arena, Hearthstone, Pokemon, etc?
More One Piece TCG content pls 🙏
abi kartları nereden alıyorsun ben ingilizce bulamadımda?
Why did I watch this knowing full well that I wouldn’t have anyone to play it with
There’s only one blue card that the 4 copy rule doesn’t apply
where do you buy the cards ?
For some reason, the only retail store I've been randomly finding OPCG cards is Target. But they sell out fast...
maybe i missed it whats the pont of the card typings?
strike, slash etc
How do you play the Event counter?
Its not shown in the video....
I think the text is too small to read normally, why did they think , this was a good idea ?
Also there could have been more keywords, why put when attacking ?
When you trying to learn how to play but haven’t played other card games so no idea what resting or tapping a card just like other card games means… 💀
Thats funny. You must not have ever played mtg. Because that's what it's referencing. In mtg or magic the gathering, you tap or turn you cards 90 degrees clockwise to indicate it's being used or been used. You keep it in thst state until the next turn and untap everything. Pretty much every card game draws some inspiration from mtg which predate them all.
Does the player starting the game get to draw 1 card then charge 1 dawn?
No only activate a Don!
@@TrueChampionSteven both first turns you can't attack too right? & do you know if the cards are standard size & will fit in a ultra pro binder?
My kids wanted to play this game. Please suggest card with english names.
I am excited to not be able to get any of the product
if you lose the game does the enemy will take your cards
What this isnt yugioh
