    I bought some cards from my local Target on opening day. Called my FLGS and they said they had 4 boxes of Romance Dawn left. Within an hour I walked into the store, asked for a box, and was told the manager wanted to keep all 4 remaining boxes (you know why... to scalp), so I walked away. A few months of not finding a single MSRP card later, even across 6 Targets and several game stores in my area, I sold everything and decided not to participate in this game. If you make cards impossible to find unless scalped, that's not a healthy game.

    It’s crazy as someone playing digimon and hearing from my friends play one piece how different Bandai approach is. Like digimon had a scalper problem in the beginning too but Bandai rewaved the first two sets in the middle of the fourth set to make the prices go down. But in one piece Bandai is sure taking its time. Add to that they are focusing on one piece cuz it’s their gold goose so I’m worried about how the other games will fare.

      To the OP, I also play both digimon and one piece as they are incredibly similar in game mechanics and I love both dearly. I am concerned for digimons future as idk if Bandai will continue to support digimon as much as one piece because it doesnt match its sales despite still having a good player count and dedicated fan base. Really hope Bandai doesnt end up sacrificing one game to focus on the other, the choice is theirs but i hope they listen to the fans/customers.

      I wouldn't worry too much about the Digimon card game. It's still Bandai's second most popular card game right now. And it's currently the most lucrative branch of the franchise. They're way more likely to drop something like union arena, battle spirits and even dragon ball super if anything, recent news indicate that they have big plans for the Digimon card game. They're making a webcomic and plans to synchronize japanese and western releases by spring 2025.

      Why do people talking about specific cards like there’s only one or two colors to build a deck with? There’s other colors to play and choose from. Just proves everyone is meta driven just to win.
      If people were around the release of each set, you would’ve been able to acquire play sets of all these cards.
      The fact is, people are late to the game when One Piece was always hype

    • @MonkeyFightTCG
      @MonkeyFightTCG  8 месяцев назад +5

      Every color is expensive is why people don't just go to other colors. Plus the meta is very rough twords rogue decks.
      Buying at the beginning of a sets release is good advice, but it's hard to tell that to people just joining the game for the first time or just picking up card games as a hobby.
      I want the hype to grow and for that there needs to be more product.

    I Vanguard player getting into one piece when the Three Brothers trier deck comes out. The locale seen has been growing in one piece in the UK some friends have one-piece decks. This is no disrespect to other Bandai tcg but I hardly see any locals in the London area hosting Battle Spirits, Dragon Ball or Digmon. I only mostly see one piece.

    • @MonkeyFightTCG
      @MonkeyFightTCG  8 месяцев назад +5

      yeah, the Digimon card is too old and developed at this point so new players can't easily join. The Dragon Ball card game died and go rebooted so no one trusts it. Battle Spirits Saga is weird and has awful products and no real audience.
      However, the one piece card game is uniquely a great game. It's got an easy to understand meta as well as mechanics. it's got amazing product. And it's got a huge community, because of how One Piece as a franchise is doing atm.
      If you're looking for the Three Brothers deck I recommend looking for which leader you want to build around and buy the needed non starter deck cards ahead of time.

    I played DBSCG Master back during covid, and it was the most fun I've ever had in a card game. I loved it so much I didn't sell my Secret Rare when it was $600. Sure there was some broken stuff like Shugesh-Explosive Goku, but my biggest issue was with Bandai entirely. They didn't ship out promos for events, and had no incentive to compete. When they announced this game, I dismissed it as a fixed DBSCG. Then they released DBSCG again as Fusion World. There is no doubt in my mind that Bandai is going to shoot themselves in the foot later down the road.
    One Piece is insanely popular, but at $70 at my lgs a deck for the Three Brothers, that doesn't come with a full playset... thats scummy. The collectibility is good. The fact that I can't buy a pack (of 12 cards!) for less than $20 is not.
    Side not: the fact that they are banning cards because of their trigger effects is absolutely hilarious.

    Bandai gotta chill with ALL the card games. Union arena? No. BSS? No. Digimon? Yes. One Piece? Yes. Digimon and One Piece are the best card games to come out since magic pokemon and yugioh. Theyre already great but they could be really really great and hit the stratosphere. I really wish they would drop the other card games that we know will not last 10 years. I would much rather see them invest into games that will last and just keep those few.

    • @kanchomerocks12
      @kanchomerocks12 7 месяцев назад

      Battle spirits saga is already 15 years old. It clearly has a decent following in Japan at least, so I see why they wouldn't drop that one. Union arena is more likely to get dropped imho because it's going to be much harder to sell a crossover card game

    • @SkywalkerOne1977
      @SkywalkerOne1977 5 месяцев назад

      @@kanchomerocks12 Yeah, Union Area is going to be a hard sell because if you haven't seen the anime, you won't buy that product, which means you can't market all the cards to everyone. And if you want future support, good luck if that anime ends up not being popular.

  • @lee2361
    @lee2361 8 месяцев назад +4

    If you look at the cost historically of MTG etc. $500 really isn't obsurd for a meta deck. Furthermore, we've just seen 2,560 players turn up at Utrecht for a hugely successful tournament.
    I agree with most of what you've said outside of it only being played by scalpers and that early sets need to be reprinted. Reprinting actual sets will harm the game - reprinting individual cards to make the meta more accessible will strengthen the core.
    Another LGS close to me has just prepped to start hosting One Piece each week. The growth is organic and explosive - the game is amazing.
    Wherever there is monetary opportunities there will be scalpers. That's just the way of the world.
    Great video, love the editing.

Yamato is a really cheap and strong deck especially with the sky island support a winning list I saw had only like 7 SRs being enel and hody. Also reiju basically being entirely built out of the box gives a different strategy some legs although Queen definitely helps the deck. A lot of this is PPG being the biggest NA organization that runs events and has product. Get your bag, but when you sign up for their patreon you can buy CASES at distribution prices. They get an absurd amount of produc. PPG has a seeming monopoly on the game in the west and that problem is only going to get worse. Bandai is letting whoever pick up this huge scene instead of developing something to help other organizations and lgs. My locals cant do regionals despite getting 20+ for months and having at least 100 people in the early who would play. That isnt a problem in yugioh because of the konami organized play infrastructure. I hate konami and quit yugioh but they at least handle this stuff with an NA office and hasnt results in a monopoly and product and organized events

I recomend using a website like one piece meta to find a better list to learn from or base your own strategy off of. At least untill you learn more about how to build decks.
      If you want a larger collection without spending absurd amou ts money. I'd recomend either waiting for early sets to reprint or getting ahead and pre ordering sets that haven't released yet. Also remember you can buy individual cards through websites like tcgplayer or cardmarket. It's often cheaper than buying sealed product.

    2- 03:19 where have i heard that before?
    3- so Bandai has a huge track record of badly running card games and yet people, even informed ones, are still getting on board for new adventures?
    4- long story short the games 1st year was a sucess in terms of sales and catching people´s attencion but there were some bad things as well in the design, tournament management and business preactices?
    5- so is the game´sucess due to the quality of the game/gameplay or more because of people wanting to make money or because the manga has a huge following?

      Pick one of those decks to build around and by a second one. Then look to see what other cards you'd need to upgrade them. You can also look for a local game store to attend tournaments.
      11 and 13 luffy are the most competitve decks to go with. 13 is better but more expensive to fully build.
      There's an online simulator that's linked in the description you can use to test out decks.

My region with 5 targets within an hour drive of me and 3 walmarts and over 4 million people literally dont get anything stocked near us. No game stores carry product. Ive called stores talked to restockers and they all say nah our distributor doesnt have any yet places in the middle of nebraska have them. Also the lack of local tournaments make it impossible for me and other of my friends who actually take the game seriously cant even fully advance their game skill.

    i am trying to get to one piece and realy it's not good went they dont put all in the card in the starter decks like they did not reprint nami green for exemple in uta green the structure deck was so hard to get too everyone wanted to get it so it was supper hard to me to get it but now i need to find nami and kid which are expensive. So yes getting to one piece feel prety hard it's not at the level of Yugioh were every deck will cost most then 100$ but if they continue like that it wil not be good. Specialy if they continue to short print sets. Also Promo is so bad like they put reprint in promo too whitch are supper hard to get too. Also in my local we did not even get the promos card in the uta event we did have to wait to get the starter deck and then the promo whitch we get like 1 month later it's insane. The promos were so expensive.

Coming from Yugioh which drove me off with all the new summons (everything AFTER 5D's is straight up dumb in my view) and stuff and i really enjoyed the tutorial App from One Piece, just want to get into a new TCG that has a bright future and isnt as cost expensive, so this is looking this far, but I take it with a grain of salt cause of all the negative things you said about the meta and the cost of meta decks and stuff... • @MonkeyFightTCG
      @MonkeyFightTCG  8 месяцев назад +9

      There are way more than that. Plus when a ton of cards in you deck are $10 a piece it adds up quickly to hundreds of dollars. Sakazuki, enel, and purple luffy are all $500 decks. If you take away the cards that are over $30 each they're still $300 decks.
      Not everyone is wealthy and they shouldn't have to be to play a card game.

      I come from an era you make the best of what you got with what you can until you can win the good stuff and usually your alt art and expensive stuff you ain’t trying to wear out no .way. The box winning and prizes is the spillage and rewards of rearing up the tourneys and the regionals. If you want to ball out and play on that level with money than it’s should be up to you to be able to. I never knock the guy cause he had the money to just buy the “good cards “. My skill gone beat you out that expensive deck you bought so it’s all good. Thats MY mentality, that’s how I was taught in Yugioh too. I notice a lot of these “expensive cards” have a common version that you can win with. And best believe the card game balanced becuase you don’t see them promo decks winning cause it’s not rigged like that. People need to stop complaining and pays I seen the cost of flesh n blood n quickly said you know what what this my kinda game so I’m excited to see this game go up. Flesh and blood could be a great game but I ain’t heard nothing bout it outside being expensive. This is a solid one from the looks of it. Much better than spending money on booze and drugs.
