Hello WinterStarcraft and everyone. A very interesting game from both players. I somehow think maybe MaxPax intentionally placed the Mothership's Time Warp (around the 28:07 of the video) to that spot to slow down, zone out those Phoenixes and mostly any Interceptors from herO's Carriers since I think (please correct me if I'm wrong on all what I said) Interceptors doesn't get exactly slowed when directly used Time Warp on the Carriers unless within Time Warp's radius around the Carrier when directly using Time Warp. When I play 4v4 games or any games I play, I usually place Time Warp somewhere where enemies Interceptors might go to slow their movement and attack speeds since the radius almost or fully cover the area and Interceptors gets slowed for a long while and more effective in slowing it down. Also nice video and thanks again for the casting. Take care always you and everyone and hope you and everyone are all healthy and safe.
What I noticed is max pax used carriers intrigueing properties better, sometiems its better to attack your own pylon just ot get your interceptors out. SO carriers ahve this unique property that is coupled with their range, but the interceptors have tehri own range also, in relation to how they fly, so technically its a hidden + 2 range... so the importance of getting them in a mass clump or formation, allows you to Attack (A) a specific targets! in succession deleting them rapidly... whilst we didn't see his opponenet using them in the same way. INterceptors not commanded do pretty flaky damage. Widow mines are good against interceptor clumps, or scourge.... One carrier if attack moved with equal stats, 4 stalkers should die and the carrier should die. However, if the carrier already has its fleet out, and is target firing ,it should win, and it will take 6.5 stalkers... the question is do you pop hte blimp or attack the interceptors. KNowing what it takes ot pop a blimp is a good thing. Templar are really good against carriers in sc1, becasue their psionic energys could wipe out interceptors quickly, and pretty sure templar psionic attacsk stack as separate attack so you just bam, tripple storm a place and see an entire fleet wipe out... Anyways the trick ot carriers ot to keep your interceptors out and not allwo them to return, while moving your carriers. There is a sweet spot where you can get movement without htem returnign while they attack, and you can certainly get larger range attack then is stated, Its kind of of weird, since you can see this if your attacking bak and forth and movignthe fleets back and forth your interceptors can stay out and move towards the target as your move towards the targe,t but the interceptors being faster, while careirs move to their legal range, the interceptors can actualyl get there a couple range ahead by their speed, and has like tempest range... its bizarre.. but there is actually a micro thing with it and someone shoudl make an arcade version to express this more.. pretty hard ot articulate .. how it works.. Like the worst thing is when your interceptors return because you had a move command... during a fight and some weird programming forces them to stop attack adn return before going out again!? lol sad face.. equals death... the art of Carri-in
hero with the epic throw. i mean i guess he didn't know how much money MP had, but he had to know he was low the whole game cuz he was kept effectively bottled up the whole time. waited way too long to take the fight. like why on earth would he wait until MP had wiped out half his base before hero engages? the whole strength of his position was his bank and ability to quickly re-max. also i feel like if one of them went tempests instead of carriers it would've been an easy win.
Very well fought by MaxPax. He was on Knife's edge for so long. I really questioned his choice to go carriers, I really thought that they'd either get sniped or he'd just bleed off so many interceptors he'd run out of money. Instead he found the narrow path between turtling, expanding, and aggression (mostly the first two) to keep herO off his back until he built up an unstoppable carrier force that would give him ONE good push. And that's all he had: even his successful push left him broke. Fewer interceptors and he just loses. Surprised Trap didn't try to just kill all the interceptors earlier, guess he just figured he didn't have enough time and didn't realize how broke MaxPax was. Also while I was rooting for MaxPax, I sympathize with HerO, whenever I do team games as Protoss it feels like literally nothing you can do is good against carriers except other carriers. You get archons to kill interceptors, stalkers to snipe, Phoenixes, and he just runs you over
This was her0's game to lose. The only reason maxpax won that one big fight was time warp (why would the phoenixes stay inside?) and that maxpax had all the interceptors out already, which is huge because her0's carriers had to spawn theirs first. Very questionable to go stalkers there instead of tempests and more phoenixes. Not much on maxpax but mostly on her0 to win or lose there.

Let me preface this by saying that I'm a terrible starcraft player. But did Maxpax just win that engagement by sniping a mothership and then letting guardian shield tank Hero's dps? Because, if that's what just happened, I am now a believer in the cause of sentries being insanely powerful.
The intended micro for that interaction is to just hold position outside of "hit carrier" range, that has to be easier than shift clicking every carrier while also trying to control a ground fight.
@@Appletank8 The problem with holding outside the "hit carrier range" is that it's also probably going to be outside of the "pull interceptors" range, so you're forced to rely on something big and tanky to hold focus while the staying outside the hit range or you'll never have the opportunity to fight more than a small group of interceptors which can be quickly replenished. It doesn’t help that there is nothing really tanky enough to fill that role and even if there was the carriers would simply not engage with it unless they can get right on top. This is strictly speaking in terms of phoenixes of course. Simply put, the way the new priority works it is probably not possible to numbers game beat carriers with mass phoenixes anymore because the carriers player should simply never engage units while phoenixes are in range of interceptors and not the carriers themselves, although even if they do the “tank” group will either be too weak and fall too quickly, or the phoenix group too small and incapable of depleting interceptors. Phoenixes are also incapable of attacking ground, so useless if that scenario turns into a base trade.
@@mckendrick7672 TBF, Phoenixes are probably not supposed to easily counter Carriers anyways. If you see Carriers coming and just build more Phoenixes, you're probably not going to trade efficiently.
