Funeral for my Dad today. I was searching.. & I found what I needed here. I heard your voice & was so comforted. My Dad was a Methodist Minister in Central Illinois married 68yrs. But I know some things that were not free for him to publicize...Pete Seeger was his favorite! I didn't know as a teenager ..I just didn't understand. (Appreciate) How lucky I was/am. There were 15+ people today giving testimony of his love for every person he met. It was his constant smile & TRUE belief in a better day. Don Quixote with my mother for 68 yrs....I've given up trying to understand. It's too beautiful & heartbreaking.
Ah, if a slice of the acoustic music loving public know you, you're lucky, in this age of over-kill social media. So, yes, he is, and NO, he's appreciated.
I had the honour to be the tour manager for Charlie on his Irish tour a couple of years back. He's great company and I loved every minute of it - and ah, to see him play every night too -what a BONUS!!!!!
Setlist: 0:45 - Worried Blues (Going Down This Long Dusty Road) 6:30 - True Friends 10:05 - 1922 Blues 13:45 - 1890 18:00 - Union Tramp 20:50 - Jesus Is a Hobo 25:50 - Mastodon 29:40 - Coffee's Gone Cold 33:20 - Cheap Wine 38:20 - Stagger Lee 43:35 - Just Like Today 48:30 - Badger 51:20 - Ain't No Grave Gonna Hold My Body Down 54:40 - Don't Send Your Child to War
I had William Elliot Whitmore playing in the background while doing homework, and this came on via autoplay. Within 30 seconds of the music starting, I stopped homework, and for the past half hour I've just been sitting here absorbing how incredible this guy is. So much talent.
wow. went to Seattle due to work, 30th birthday had to do something right - stumbled across this guy at a bar. woaaah! 10/10 man Charlie Parr you are phenomenal.
I know that it's an hour long video, but people really ought to take a listen to this concert because it is straight up phenomenal. Seriously, just like through it on in the background as you study/work and let the good, folky vibes envelope you.
What a player. Saw him live in Australia a few years back, blew me away. I changed my play after listening to this guy. Reminds me of doc Watson. Reminds me I ought to practice more. Dem fingers!
I casually heard him yesterday for the first time (in the Mule resophonic guitars sample videos) and i cant stop to ear his music now.Love his guitar style and his perfect high pitched voice...and music is full of light..Great Maestro!
A beloved Duluth Minnesota artist. Whenever he plays it's packed. I've seen him dozens of times and I've only paid once for the trampled by turtles 2018 show at bayfront. Charlie is a true gift to duluthians. Just saw him on the peer at Glensheen 3 weeks ago from a canoe in Lake superior. Another beautiful free 2 hour concert.
So amazing! I listened to this though and through over and over again. This man is magical. His guitar playing matches up exactly to how I play my harmonica. I started to play along but quickly set i down to pay full attention. Ao thankful for this man. Thank you.
To MastаTOHO - here is the playlist: 1. Worried Blues 2. True Friends 3. 1922 Blues 4. 1890 5. Union Tramp 6. Jesus is a Hobo 7. Mastodon 8. Coffee's Gone Cold 9. Cheap Wine 10.Stagger Lee 11.Just Like Today 12.Badger 13.Ain't No Grave 14.Don't Send Your Child to War
I listen to this everyday at work while editing photos. Actually now that I think about it its my background music for everything. Hahah Driving. Boating. Snowboarding. Editing. Chillin. ha!! Charlie Parr is such a legend
Marti Garcés I had never heard of Charlie Parr until now. I tuned in the Friday night folk music radio program from Tuscaloosa tonight and heard a track of his and my mouth just dropped open. I knew I had to find out more. On RUclips I found more of his music, and I am blown away. I need to get his albums!
A lot of the conversation along with the string breaking during the performance got lost in editing. In order to make this program fit within its allotted time, non-essential elements were removed. During the performance while he was tuning for the next song it snapped and Charlie removed the string so it wouldn't interfere. How do I know? I was manning the camera that captured the tight shots from Charlie's right of the strings, fret board and of him singing. I also edited the program.
Great... really great. Echoes of Woody, Van Ronk, mr. Zimmerman... but slightly (or totally?) different. Ain't No Grave acapella version (from 52:00) had blow me out of chair. Hats off.
Charlie Parr's Stumpjumper is ranked #22 for 2015 in the french fanzine Trip Tips : bertrandmusics.blogspot.fr/2015/12/trip-tips-27-selection-de-70-albums.html
anyone know which brand the green and white resonator Charlie is using? I know he uses Mule and National and I know it isn't a Mule...is it a National? Amazing artist!
Saw this guy a couple of weeks ago at The Ryman. Flash guitar player (and a cool washboard guy too), but unfortunately we could hardly follow the performance because the crowd was so rude. Talked and paid no attention through the whole performance. Maybe its a millennial thing in Nashville, but still, the rudest concert crowd I've ever seen.

I had the honour to be the tour manager for Charlie on his Irish tour a couple of years back. He's great company and I loved every minute of it - and ah, to see him play every night too -what a BONUS!!!!!
I love how he plays the songs a little differently every time. It's truly a unique experience seeing him live ❤❤

I'm honored to be able to say I've seen him live twice now, here in Minocqua, Wisconsin. He's amazing. I even got a hug. :)
I had William Elliot Whitmore playing in the background while doing homework, and this came on via autoplay. Within 30 seconds of the music starting, I stopped homework, and for the past half hour I've just been sitting here absorbing how incredible this guy is. So much talent.
Exactly how I found Charlie. WEW is still my favorite, but there's plenty of room for others.
I've been listening to him all day and in less than 24 hours, he's become my new favorite artist
I was lucky enough to see him at my local university(UWSP) years back.
Was ABSOLUTELY mesmerized the entire performance 🤘❤️🤘

I found him about 3 years ago and still can't believe he isn't something bigger. He has one of the best souls for any musician I have ever found.

The best version of Stagger Lee since Mississippi John Hurt - incredible set from a master

Oh, settle down. That's a ridiculous claim. Hundreds if not thousands of folk people you NEVER heard have played that song.

the real deal...authentic is the word. I hope he can come to vermont, to the Flynn or the Chandler oprea house..
This does my soul good.
Loved it!!
Thanks!
Hally Wood wrote "Worried Blues," not Guthrie (who I love as well) as Parr notes. Never the less, Parr does a FANTASTIC cover of it!!!
Spectacular ... I'm off to see him tonight Newcastle, Uk
Charlie says the same thing TVZ did, thank you everybody
I love TVZ, and Charlie.......what did Charlie say that TVZ did?

Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase this recording on vinyl? My favourite Charlie Parr live recording...
What Is the tuner for at the back of the resonator for? It appears the guitar only has 6 strings but 7 tuners?
Joseph Grady so he can double up on the g string .
anyone know which brand the green and white resonator Charlie is using? I know he uses Mule and National and I know it isn't a Mule...is it a National? Amazing artist!
..., ain't that the way it is. 🌎

What tuning would you say that twelve string is in
Open D possibly
