I can’t stop sharing this, Charlie plays this set soooo sweetly. He knows how to make that Guild ring like a prophet of the 12 string!!!! Charlie Parr is DEFINITELY one of the greats.
You can hear his bear feet tapping as part of the song and sounds much better than shoes or boots or stomp box! I've just been trying to copy it and it's tricky.
817 Oakland Avenue came up on my feed a few days ago. Fell in love with it. Last night my wife worked so I put on my headphones and listened to this show. It blew my mind. tears rolling down my cheeks hearing Cheap Wine. I was so happy. This is why music is the best thing in my life besides my family. What a pleasure finding Charlie. I thank you much brother. 🤘🏻

Up to 61k. You think maybe the world has caught up with Charlie? I’ve been a fan for years and I’m from NETN. Drove over the mountain this past spring to see him in Asheville. One of the best concerts of the year for me. I hope he gets back this way soon. 🥰
Absolutely brilliant! Probably one of the best performances I've seen Charlie do. His voice and playing are top notch and the quality of the sound recording is really excellent. Great job all round and worthy of more comments.
who is this guy? Randomly came up after a video and I'm in love. What a beautiful message and heart. I love you. Thank you for your magic in this world.
@@mowhit3034 I saw him in concert yesterday in Austin, Mn, his hometown. Talked to him fora while. We have some loose connections, but he obviously will talk to anyone.
Impressive body of work. Haunting in places, beautiful in others, great craftsmanship, smooth in your delivery and man you really know how to rock the house.
does anyone know how the percussion works? it looks like it's all coming from his bare foot (heel for "kick" and toes for highs) but how did they mic it to sound so full? it's awesome, I'm just confused lol
Love listening to Charlie Parr. Something about it so nice, the old depression doesn't have anything to latch on to so just gonna let go of it and keep listening.
Here, they just have a microphone pointed at his foot. He stomps the shit out of the floor when he plays, so it's plenty loud. Usually when he plays live, he uses an amplified stompbox, and it's a very bass heavy sound, you can feel the thump in your chest. It's awesome.
I saw Charlie about a year before Covid in Hamden, CT. Told him how much I loved his music. He did a song he said his mom hated ; ) about a woodchuck, he and his dad were watching while sitting on the front porch, sippin' a beer. Sounds weird, I was transported ! As if I was sittin' outside on the porch with them. Spoiler alert: the woodchuck didn't live much longer. I get a similar effect from his new Album/ song: "Blues for Whitefish Lake, 1975". He explained it in one new album interview. He loved his dad. You can tell he misses him. ruclips.net/video/uiNNhovE6cA/видео.html
I remember seeing him in Duluth in the early 2000s... I didn't realize at the time how fortunate I was.
Filling Up a big pair of shoes! and they fit like they were custom made. ten golden stars. Bare foot and all! Damn Fine Music!
This man is a national treasure. If you ever get a chance to see him then do so. His shows are transcendent.
Agreed
I've been LUCKY enough to see him a handful of times... MESMERIZING, is the only way to describe it.
Like watching an artist paint ❤❤
Thank you Algorithm. Never heard of him before but what a treasure. Wow
Ahhhhh! The humanity and the humility. What a genuine original. The broke the mold after they made Charlie.
"The function of man is to live,
not to exist. I shall not waste days
trying to prolong them.
I shall use my time.
I'm not sure he wants exposure or not, but this is extremely high quality music. Better than most of the stuff on the radio in my opinion.
Charlie Parr's music saved my life...
NODOUBT ABOUT IT
@@ejarnold747I ❤ this comment. Jason Isbell saved mine. ✌️
Peace to you.
Probably my 50th time listening to this in the passed couple of days.
Charlie Parr hypnotized and mesmerised us and blew us away in Melbourne on his last tour! We love you Charlie and we miss you!!!!!!!

Charlie Parr is DEFINITELY one of the greats.
Best thing is every time he plays... it's a little different, based on his mood 🥰
Some songs are faster, some slower, but ALL full of emotion❤
This was recommended after a video I made and I do not regret clicking on it.
its the silence at the end of the tune when there should be a huge round of applause! love any one who sings and plays bear footed!
Charlie is indeed quite hairy, but the feet seem otherwise normal.
@@johndavies5023 Bear 🐻 feet? 🤣🤣🤣

Seeing him live is "different"... you want to clap and dance, but your just caught up in the magic he's producing. 🙌🥰
Charlie Parr is an American treasure!

Someone give the engineer who recorded this a beer or a joint for their excellent stereo mic technique choices :-)
Yes! Lots of great sound engineers out there but whoever mic'd and recorded this did a stellar job.
Give them both😎✌🏼
Only just found Charlie and his wonderful music with his lastest album, wonderful...
¡Hola! Thanks for sharing Profe.
Oh lawd he got the dawgs out
never heard him sing cheap wine the same way twice and, unlike some folk singers, all his renditions are actually good.
how come this only has 5k views.. :) this guy is a genius
I always think this, but then I remember how many platforms they post on so I'm sure it's way more🤗

😺 Me and my cat love listening to "Hobo", but can't tell which we like most, the singing or the guitar playing!
Yeah IMO even better than the Paramount theatre one, and one set the bar high

The best he ever made is "Moonshiner."
He’s from Austin Minnesota. He’s playing at The Turf Club in St Paul every Sunday this month (Jan 2023).
Really interesting right hand technique.

good question! could it be the click of his plastic thumb pick?
Here, they just have a microphone pointed at his foot. He stomps the shit out of the floor when he plays, so it's plenty loud. Usually when he plays live, he uses an amplified stompbox, and it's a very bass heavy sound, you can feel the thump in your chest. It's awesome.
“An easily confused and shy individual”?
the chorus/echo on his vocals here combined with the nice treble on the guitar is perfect, at least on my home system.
Who is this man? He seems familiar and he be spitting alot of things I started recently talking about

What is the name of the first song? Old or New...?
Never mind Charlie said it is a new one.
817 Oakland Ave.
Off his newest - "Last of the Better Days Ahead" - song is 817 Oakland Ave. The rest of the album is just as brillant.
