It’s because pushing and pulling requires different muscles. He’s used to squatting and lifting, so he focuses on strengthening those muscles. It’s also why they can dead lift hundreds of pounds easily but struggle to even do a single chin up, they have insane core strength but upper body strength is lacking. The opposite is true of guys that can do hundreds of chin ups or pushups, they probably couldn’t even deadlift 200 pounds but they can do 200 sit-ups like it’s nothing

To be clear, the guy can still probably bench 400 lbs, deadlift 800 something, bench 200 lb dumbbells, etc, which is way beyond 99% of men on earth - it's just not where he was at his PEAK. That's expected when you switch to bodybuilding instead of strongman training. So it's a bit of both. And I guarantee not one single person in this comment section - unless we have some World's Strongest Man competitors here -could bend that last level, so that drives home how strong he still is.
