FOUR weeks without using my hot tub? And what's this, "Before you start it up in the spring" nonsense? We go out in sub freezing temperatures in the winter to use ours!!
I guess if you really don't use the hot tub much anyway, waiting 3-4 weeks for the vinegar to work is a great idea, but we USE ours all of the time.

THIS VIDEO WORKS. I swear by it. Been doing this for going on 2 years! After 4 months of use, stop adding chemicals and stop; using it. 3-4 days later, add your 6 gallons of vinegar and let it sit for 4 weeks. In May, I let it sit for up to 8 weeks. Then I drain and power wash. I live in NC. I never let my tub sit in summer without water. Not a good idea because mold and mildew can still get into lines and pipes even though it is drained. THIS VIDEO IS WAY TO DO IT! It is tough to be without tub while this self cleans especially in colder months, but it is a necessity to ensure a clean tub. You will be surprised what your tub looks like after a vinegar soak.

I'm on very hard well water. Ph 10.2!!!... in addition to the vinegar try running a sump into a bucket (withholds drilled on the bottom) full of synthetic pillow fluff. (Just cut open a 2 dollar pillow from wall mart) my water goes from deep rust brown to crystal clear in 14 hours. The minerals and rust just cling to these synthetic fibers (as well as slime) like nothing else!

Do leave your filter in the Strong Spa when doing your vinegar cleanse? I have a used Strong Spa similar to yours. I wanted to know if you leave your filter in the spa durning the cleaning process.

This is great!!!!!. I let mine run for just a week (too many other projects going on) it was clear when I put the 5 gallons in, green a week later and filters were big time slime. I will do it again at the end of the summer for longer. Lot of calcium buildup that is gone. I am sure leaving it in longer will get it cleaner

3-4 weeks? That's to long for me but great idea. I can get 4 purges from a bottle of ohyuk for $17. But I can't wait 4 weeks to use my tub in between cleaning.
