I make a paste with some warm water and let it sit for a little while, then wipe the rust away. Soft Scrub with bleach is another favorite for me. Thanks for the inspiration as always ❤️
This is a very good video. Using a vinegar solution was good to help dissolve hard water deposits, but a second step was needed to get the black mold off. Unless the jets have gaskets or O-rings that are damageable, I would thoroughly rinse the jets after soaking in vinegar and then soak them in a separate bucket with water and laundry bleach. The bleach is corrosive and will dissolve or loosen the black mold. Then rinse thoroughly after cleaning. We use bleach with paper towels soaked with bleach on our white grout lines in our shower to get rid of the black mold. It takes a some of application time, but the white grout lines come out looking like new. It should work the same on the jets.

Your tub and jets look great but that yellow intake cover is a bummer. Google jets or whirlpool replacement parts, find your tub brand and get a white cover. Not expensive and your tub will look new.

It’s so annoying and I don’t know what else to do. Cleaned the jet covers and took them out twice now and they are spotless and the water filter. So the black flakes have to be coming from somewhere I’m not cleaning. Can anyone help me???
Darn! I’m not an expert, but I do have some other ideas. From researching, Oh Yuck cleaner or Ahh!some cleaner both work really well. It sounds like you need to let it run for a long time. Even up to an hour. If you still see flakes, do it again. Do it until you don’t see them anymore. I think I’ll give those cleaners a try next time, too. I hope this helps! I left the links to the products if you want to check them out.

I bought the Oh Yuk, but I don't think it's worth the price.
That’s good to know! Thanks!
Everything needs to be cleaned in life. Everything needs maintenance.
@@PlayingwithPawz That is true. ☺️
Where has Ali been?
Thanks for noticing. 😊 I have just been busy with life and kids and summer! I hope to be back soon.
Ok. I’m just glad everything is ok!
KABOOM works really great for the body of the tub.
Thanks for the tip!
Use pipe cleaner next time 👍🏽along with your toothbrush 🎉
@@chocolatedrop__ Great idea! Thanks!
best way to avoid the mold is to get rid of it. they are a nightmare. worst housing decision we’ve made
@@chodge8366 I agree! If we were remodeling our bathroom, I would get rid of it.
Just watching this makes me hate having a jet tub!!! Just cleaning this thing could take hours and you don’t kill all bacteria or mold from the inside. Maybe that’s why many people are replacing them with walk in shower
Probably! I like having a tub, but hate that it's jetted.
My jets don’t unscrew like that 😭
Oh no! Really? I wonder how they can get cleaned well. 🤔 I wish I knew! Can they “pop” off if you try and pry them off?
@@reallifewithali I tried they seem stuck. It’s part of a shower, so not sure that makes a difference I’ll have to look online a bit closer
@kristin475 That’s too bad! I wish I knew how to help. Good luck!
this is why you shouldn't pee in your tub when your sitting in it.
Interesting comment. Haha. It’s not from peeing in the tub. It’s just from body oils and soap residue from soaking in the water.
Your tub and jets look great but that yellow intake cover is a bummer. Google jets or whirlpool replacement parts, find your tub brand and get a white cover. Not expensive and your tub will look new.
Great idea! Thanks.
If it’s yellowing from overtime, you can also try putting it in hydrogen peroxide and setting it out in the sun. I know that works on clear plastic, worth a try on the solid stuff :)
@DrWarBear Thanks! Great idea.
the black isn’t neccesarily mold, hard water and soap scum buildup is going to look like that too
Thanks! Although, it is still gross. 😬
you diluted the vinegar too much for it to be effective .........
For soaking the jets? I’ll try more next time!
Use a pipe cleaner
Good idea! Thanks!
There’s so much more in there, you have no idea since you’re not using the proper cleaners.
@@catscratchfever1473 I imagine there is still some in there, but at least it seems a lot cleaner! Can you recommend what cleaner I should try?
The tubes need to be scrubbed too. Or replaced. They are all gunky like the jet holes. Yuk
I’m not sure how to do that! But when we used the tub last night I didn’t see a single gross black flake!
Why cant yall use freaking gloves 😤
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't! I always wash my hands good after. It's just a personal preference and it doesn't bother me. 😬
