I'm here to stand up for the premium gold rare cards. I think they look cool and the texturing is nice. They're usually the cards most commonly remarked (positively) on by people who look at my binder. To each their own, but I think they're neat!
15:41 Disregarding the golds is silly. I love golds because its one of the very few ways to have border foiling. Finding clean copies of the maximum gold style golds is actually pretty tricky because many come chipped or printed with too much ink. I love how they have the raised lines in the art. Well worth the search
The gold rare is silly. They look like someone took a common and stuck dollar store crafts section shiny crap on it. I'd rather take a common over this mess that looks like it was exclusively made to attract kids who think more shiny=more cool
I think ppl not like liking the Premium Gold Rares is good for ppl who do like em and the TCG itself. Keeps collectors from driving up the prices which allows players access to affordable options
@@REIDAE " looks like it was exclusively made to attract kids who think more shiny=more cool" Yet people still loved Starlights, and even Strictly Sealed him self did too.
This was exactly what I wanted to see i am a blue eyes collector! Thank you this was so helpful! So nice to see every single version out there in one video!
17:49 - I once saw a PSA 10 Duel Terminal Preview Blue-Eyes listed for $40K on TCGPlayer during the coronaboom. Seller said he would personally drive and hand-deliver it if the buyer was within a 200-mile radius of him. Crazy stuff haha. 27:53 - the Spell of Mask and Labyrinth of Nightmare Ulti OCG reprints of Blue-Eyes and Dark Magician are like the DDS prints' big siblings. Equally collectible, incredibly sharp, almost as valuable.
25:50 The artwork used here is the very first time Blue-Eyes White Dragon appeared in any media. Drawn by Kazuki Takahashi himself in the 2nd chapter of the original manga. It is one of the coolest artworks for this card in my opinion because it was the very first time we ever got to see Kaiba summon this dragon. Honestly, kind of disrespectful towards the art.
@cozydog4662 it's the way the criticism was brought up and the clear lack of research done on why the artwork was chosen. When the cards were announced they actually said why the arts were chosen.
I have 3 blue eyes binders, not just with the regular blue eyes, I included all of the support cards, along with the spells, traps and extra deck monsters.
I got my KC copy from Australia shortly after I heard of Takahashi's death. I had to honor his art and i was patiently waiting for a TCG release, but sadly that never happened. I paid around 70-80 AUD+ shipping and taxes.
There's the World Championship JPP sets -- in 2018 they released a Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician in a black envelope with shiny red stamp given out at OTS stores to celebrate the World Championship. Each envelope contained both cards, and the cards were individually sealed in plastic (also with the Yugioh World Championship 2018 logo on it). There were 2 envelopes given to each OTS store across the US and were supposed to be raffled away, though some stores would use 1 of the envelopes as prizes for 1st place. They did the same thing in 2019 but the stamped envelopes were gold stamped and had Red-Eyes Black Dragon and Monster Reborn. The cards are Japanese and in hieroglyphic secret rare (I think BEWD and DM have red name text though). The secret rare is a strange kind of prismatic secret, and there's a glitter accent that spans across the entire card. The attribute and level are foil, which is at this point normal. You also can see hieroglyphic text subtly span across the entire card depending on the angle you shine it at. On the bottom right of the 2019 envelope, it says, "One of 9000." I'm not sure what the 2018 one says, because I don't have that one.
There’s actually another Japanese artwork that has Kaiba in the foreground and the BEWD right behind him getting ready to swoop in. The artwork is badass man. Great guide
A few days after your video on the yap1 collection, I got my PSA submission back and my yap1 blue eyes got a 10. I couldn’t believe it, especially after hearing you talk about how low the pop was on that specific card in PSA 10
German Blue-eyes/kaiba collector here. I'm collecting only the German versions, and try getting a playset of each. The English cards are definetly more expensive! Great video as Always!
Wonderful vid, bro. The ‘Collectors Guide (DM)’ and the ‘Full Arts’ vids are some of my most rewatched. Surprised no Blue-Eyes ORR shoutout in this one….but amazing content as always.
I love Blue-Eyes and as a budget collector, the tin/promo versions seem more affordable and they look pretty nice. Anyways, that was a good explanation video Omar.
I cant get enough of your channel lol. Im here to see if there are any blue eyes i missed. I have had my sdk 1st ed and dds since i was a kid. They are in bad condition but i love them. Is there anyone who actually likes the tablet art lol?
This was a great list, but there are still some missing such as the Rush Duel Blue Eyes which has really good artwork in my opinion including two different rarities last I checked. Plus the LDS2 Blue/Green/Purple Ultra Rares which look amazing next to the DL09 ones. Also worth mention is the PGL2 Tablet Blue Eyes. A note for the movie Blue Eyes-it came in 4 different rarity printings for MVP1 which is the Ultra, Secret, Gold, and Gold Secret. Additionally, I think the Japanese parallel rares for some of the Blue Eyes are really cheap but unique copies to pick up. I have a few more obscure but cool Blue Eyes cards including the English and Japanese Dungeon Dice Monsters Blue Eyes plus a few others that were limited promotional runs. Lastly, the Dice Master Blue Eyes are just a fun variant to collect. Very cool list, I actually learned of a few new Blue Eyes cards I didn't have so thanks so much!
I want the Kaiba suit case for budget reasons, and it comes with allot more. However what the gold BEWD has over some of these other alternatives is that it says 1st Edition on it
I already seen the smoke you were about to give the gold one from a mile away 😂 I didn't expect you to like the ghost one though I was pretty sure you didn't.
I have a very well loved anime artwork 1st edition DPKB Blue-Eyes. Has a few creases. I got back into yugioh recently and wanted to see what the big ones sell for. Great video, very informative. Left a like
Great work man! Super informative and now I gotta go watch the DM video you made as well! As someone who got back into YuGiOh recently after not touching the game since I was a kid, I'm all about collecting the different versions of DM, DMG, Red Eyes and Blue Eyes. I have a 1k card binder specficially for those cards
You should also talk about the layout of the cards too. I mean, the so called "series". For example the DDS is series 3 (small text box, small artwork and small name box) and the adidas dark magician you mention is series 10 (huge text box, huge artwork, huge and defined text box and as you mentioned holo stars and atribute). That changes the look of a card A LOT and can be a factor in how someone wants their cards
Glossed right over the pharaoh rare version but I know in another video he wasn’t a fan of the blue eyes in that format to each their own but I really did like it.
Love watching you content, amazing collection. I've got a 1st edition sdk blue eyes amongst other sdk and sdy 1st editions I would like to sell but don't really know how to go about it. Need some guidance pls.
I had the Japanese Kaiba Structure Deck Volume 1. It had three Blue-Eyes White Dragons in common rarity. Each of the three had text in a different language, and there were at least two different art styles among them (LOB and anime). That was a long time ago, maybe before 2000, and I stopped collecting cards shortly after the 2004 movie packs with Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon were released; however, seeing the Kaiba deck from Legendary Decks 2 reminds me of that Japanese deck and has been tempting me to get it out of nostalgia. I think collecting full sets and card variants are equally valid, but I'd prioritize cards that look good and/or play well over collectability.
I kinda skimmed through the video after the SDK portion, but did he not mention the animation chronicle blue eyes? That one in particular seems very relevant to this
Differences between DPKB blue eyes 1st ed and unlimited: 1st ed is series 6 (small artwork, small text box, small name box) Unlimited is series 8 (bigger text box, huge artwork, bigger name box) Not just the "1st edition" text. People don't talk about the layout of the cards, that really grinds my gears
Hey man hope you see this. I’m thinking about getting a Starlight Stardust but im not sure if it’s best to wait until the quarter century rares come out and see if the DAMA price drops??
For a significantly cheaper version of the DDS artwork, the OCG’s 15th anniversary release is right up there (if you don’t mind it being in Japanese ofc)
I'm watching all of your videos, soo cool. My collection isn't that big, but i proudly own a faded SDK and GLD5 Ghost rare, will try to grab more in the future.
You don't get it. the reason they chose this Manga Panel for the Mangaart Blue eyes is because it is the first panel he ever was ever shown summoned. And yeah he looks weird and old, but that is the point, to show of that very early look, to gie it the historical background. The Red eyes and the DMG art that were used were also the very first panels they ever appeart in.
What i dont get about the old tin promo blue eyes is why they printed the LoB art twice while dm got both his starter deck and LoB art. Maybe thy didnt want to devalue the dds blue eyes at the time? Thats the only thing i can think of
I’ve yet to see any ghost rare blue eyes without the blotches, I’m pretty sure it’s in the actually plate of the card as all of the blotches are in the exact same spot and even the picture on TCGPlayer has them. I’m 99 percent sure that every copy has them.
Good luck finding a Duel Terminal preview for a couple of hundred. That card is a couple of thousand in lightly player. Currently there is a bgs9 at 9K and a "near mint" at 3K.
In Korea's Blue-Eyes White Dragon Legend Booster Pack It is said that about 40 boxes contain 5 blue-eyed white dragons. I think it's good to buy structures or individual cards V JUMP JP080 Jumping Magazine Free Gift I think illustration white dragon card or theater version white dragon is also good.
I think LOB unlimited Blue Eyes should be a recommended collectible AS LONG AS it is a graded 2002 copy. They’ve reprinted LOB a lot throughout the years such as in Legendary Collection 1 with the updated holo that takes away from the OG vintage feel. But a PSA/BGS that says 2002 on it is a very nice looking card for a small fraction of the cost for 1st ed.
Good vid but you missed one of the best art works, the ocg BEWD with Kaiba art work. Such a gorgeous card! Also would've been nice to mentioned the Rush Duel BEWD
Clicked on this video so fast! Been highly anticipating this one! You probably already know from my previous comments that I am a Blue-Eyes collector. Love the card and everything about it. I’m still missing some here and there, but I’m getting closer. The problem coming up is affording the more expensive ones. Haha. Fortunately, I got DDS. Heavily played, but looks great from a surface level. Already secured my TCG KC Briefcase. Can’t wait for that and the slabs you made for them. There were a few Blue-Eyes cards you missed mentioning I noticed. Like the other “Earth” reprint (LCKC-EN001) version which shared its code with three other Blue-Eyes in that set. But of course, mentioning EVERY card was not the purpose of the video. Haha. Very curious what you think about the OCG (AC02-JP000) Starlight Blue-Eyes anime art that was printed in English. I was fortunate getting one and it looks gorgeous! Btw, for those reading this, GET THE BLUE RAIN SLEEVES! They are so good! They really make my Blue-Eyes cards pop so well!
In terms of artwork there is a few that you didn't cover, it would have been nice to see the old bandai art and some of the rush duel stuff included in this list.
What do you think of the first ever blue eyes printed ? DM1 Breed and Battle GB game promo cards, I manged to pick one up for a steal a couple weeks back, I'm thinking its got a really good shot at a PSA 9 wish me luck
With the pharaoh rare i think you forgot that there are two versions of that. One secret rare and one ultra rare. I dont own either because i mainly collect sdk style blue eyes but one is much more scarce than the other. The ulti starter deck blue eyes was such a missed oppertunity to give the tcg an ulti akin to the spell of mask ulti
I don't know if intentional, but you forgot to mention the third Kazuki Takahashi artwork released only in the OCG in Kaiba Corporation Ultra Rare (JMPR-JP001)

For a significantly cheaper version of the DDS artwork, the OCG’s 15th anniversary release is right up there (if you don’t mind it being in Japanese ofc)
Could you do a similar version including the Japanese early key releases?
Can you do an OCG version?
