LEGO Controversy: UCS Venator Rex Minifigure Coming to $13 Set!

- On June 1, 2024, LEGO will release $13 LEGO set 75391 Captain Rex Y-Wing Microfighter, which will contain the exact same Captain Rex Minifigure as the one in the $650 UCS Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser set 75367 killing the exclusivity of that minifigure. Is it fair to UCS Venator set owners? And can we do anything now that we know this is going to happen? I'll share my thoughts.

Yeah idk why people are mad, he's literally one of the most popular characters. Why wouldn't they bring him in a cheaper set?
They want to maintain their social status in the virgin community
People want to gate keep the fig so they can resell it later for a higher profit cause they only see Lego as stocks which is sad.
You shouldn't be punished for being poor.
welcome to life
@@KataIIama in this case not, lego is proving the opposite, assuming the rumor is true.
Shoulda released a different Rex, one of lesser quality, that would be fair
Like they did with the mando minifig
@@nickbnjcry me a river 😂 Thanks Lego ❤
This was done with the UCS republic gunship. The clone pilot later showed up in a star wars advent calendar. I think it is just crappy of Lego to originally put the Captain Rex in a $650 set. It is good that more people will have access to a very popular character.
I'd argue that Cody is way more popular and doesn't come in a microfighter, he comes in a $140 set.
The access to Captain Rex for a larger base of people (not only lego youtubers who are the only ones who have enough to spend hundreds of dollars for a set just because of a minifig), which i myself am part of, not willing to spend that much just for a minifig and the microfighter being the best choice, but also, as you said, the uniqueness of an even slightly different version of Captain Rex can preserve its value (compare the black haired Kanan from the Phantom set that was released accidentally, and then replaced with the normal brown haired one, that the black haired one being more rare still holds its value, even tho the difference is only bc of the hairpiece)
What can they even change with Rex? People say give him a different face, but realistically that wouldn't help. The amount of buyers willing to buy a more expensive version of Rex just because of the face (that you don't see most of the time) will still plummet, thus reducing demand in the long run.
The old Rex is expensive not because it came in an expensive set, it's expensive because you had no alternative. Once a $13 alternative exists most people would just not care for the face.
Gladly now everyone gets to enjoy a good version of Rex. This is a win.
It’s not only Lego RUclipsrs. Lots of adults who grew up on Lego can afford and buy expensive sets. $650 is a lot but it’s just a new expensive adult hobby.
my personal believe is that they did that because lots of those minifigs were on the "black market" before venator was released - they probably came from mexico factory. i think lego knew about that or suspected that large amount of those minifigures were available and they were not legit so it was their way of dealing with that. that is my theory. and at the time of first rumor other rumors showed with sets that people would love to get - in order to bury leaks with rex.
Interesting theory but I don’t think that’s the case. Lego really hasn’t said anything or done anything to put a stop to what the factory is doing.
@@JQ_Productions i don't think they wan to say the quiet part out loud
The fact that there's a controversy proves there are too many man-babies that are too invested in Lego Star Wars and hate kids having cool stuff
fair af, no objection
As a UCS Venator owner i have to say this:
YES, YES ITS GIGA FAIR! MORE REPLACEMENT PIECES FOR ME!!!
Super popular character. Obviously we gonna see him again.
I just saved . . . 650 bucks 😎
I literally couldn't care less about exclusivity because I want a rex because I love rex but I don't want to spend a rediculous sum of money on him and cant afford the venator
Lego can do what ever they want. Does it suck? Yeah it does. Does it make a cool minifig accessible to more people? Yeah it does. So I think while it may nit be amazing for yhe people who dripped the money for venator it's still good because more people can enjoy having a cool cap Rex minifig
Honestly I already have 4 501st clone troopers would be nice to have a leader for them so yeah so I think this is actually a good thing
I like micro fighters, I only have the snowspeeder but I hope to get more
Good love watching legos value drop lol
Hello there This is my 1st time watching you good video you are really good I hope I see you again Nice nice nice nice nice nice video I like your idea I like your impression You make me like some certain clone troopers more than ever
Yeeeep... UCS Venator to buy for minifigure...
THE PRICE OF YULAREN IS BOOMING LIKE BITCOIN GUYS
Let's just hope Lego doesn't dump his ass down in the cheap microfighter then...
The ucs venator is for the build no minifigers
I like that im finally going to be able to have a captain rex for my 501st army
Will he have the same head or will it be a different one?
everything will be the exact same - which is why there is controversy
I don't have a problem with them releasing him in a cheaper set. But they should've told people that they would be doing this later on when they were releasing the Venator to not trick people.
They have no responsibility to do that.
@henrrryyyy I didn't say that they do... I was just giving my opinion and I'm sure lots of people would agree.
@@What-gb6vk Why would they tho? They don't really care about the aftermarket
@@henrrryyyy I mean like they said it was going to be an exclusive and then a couple months later they put it in another set so it's technically wrong for lego to do that but me personally I'm just happy that we get a chance to get a rex figure
People should be spending 650 for the venator, not the minifigs. Lego does not have to tell anyone that
Good 👍
If they have a problem just sell yours now
Why are people forgrtting yularen being in the set???
Hey bro I'm sorry it took me 3 days I'm sorry it took me 3 days but thanks for the likes I am doing it at 10:18 PM Echo No What's your favori I really like your videos I really like your videos bro Yeah what's your favorite clone trooper When are you gonna open more squishmallows From McDonald's clone trooper my guy Open in squishmallow video
I like that I can get this new Captain Rex in a cheap set. However, I understand the frustration to fans caused by this decision by LEGO to release him in a cheap microfighter. Which makes a desirable figure less valuable down the track.
I love seeing these minifure hogging people cry lol
Personally I don't have a problem with them releasing rex in a new set. Although I think the UCS set should have an exclusive print or something that makes it different than the one releasing in the $13 one. Paying $650 for a 'collectors' set that on top of that only comes with two figures, then both should be exclusive. If the smaller 'play' set came with a less detailed rex I would not see the problem, it would make it more accesible toi have the character. But they should not be the same design/print if your paying $635 more for a different set.
Hahahaha 😁
Exclusive should stay exclusive if it’s advertised that way at the start. However I like it for people who can’t afford the high premium, to me it’s immaterial.
let kids get cool stuff cheaper
Imagine the outrage of greedy fanboyz when there's gonna be a new cheap set with a Thrawn minifig 🤣
oh shoot I need a Thrawn minifig! Still sad to this day that the Zahn trilogy never made it to the screen...
I hope people will like this video I watched it 3 times Almost Please give me a free captain rex
thanks for your comments! soon you will be able to get your own captain rex for $13 :)
stop begging
Nobody wants Captain Rex to ONLY be in the UCS Venator. Of course he should be in more sets (regardless of price) however this is a very clear cut case. LEGO claimed the Minifig was exclusive. The Microfighter makes that a bold lie.
Why people are soooo in favor of LEGO lying to other fans is beyond me but that's what this is about. People talking about investing and values are just creating straw-man arguments. The Minifig can be "worth" $1 or $100, I and I guarantee any other Venator buyers do not care. But if LEGO says its "exclusive" it better stay exclusive.
Here come the straw men!
Lol nah keep sticking it to the scalpers
@@Nite_Hawk95 Scalpers? Your so-called scalpers will be buying up this cheap set. Good luck getting one anytime soon. Outside of the Mexico factory pumping out Rex minifigs without the pauldron, the majority of people with legit minigifures could afford the set and sold the Rex. Just because you couldn't afford the market price doesn't make it scalping. People that can't afford certain LEGO sets or minifigs always claim someone selling what they want is scalping. That's just ridiculous.
2:01 the answer is no. You buy plastic, not social status among the figure collecting community. That $3 small plastic figure has nothing to do with the $650 of bricks. You want an exclusive figure? go buy a CMF.
